First time trying out this small batch fish smokehouse on St. Clair. I ordered their deli special: pastrami lox (still fish, not meat), lettuce, coleslaw, banana peppers, and fresh dill on a pumpernickel bagel. Bry got the โLevโs Bagelโ (not sure what was on it), but as you can see, it brought a smile to his face. You wouldnt really expect to find a place like this in such a secluded side street but we are in this elegant dining spot with relaxing upscale ambient ๐ . ๐21 Grenville St, Toronto ๐ธPomegranate mocktail ๐นShirley temple ๐ฝCrispy corn ๐ฟHaraย bharaย kebab ๐Lemon punch ๐ฅญMango lassi ๐งPaneer tikka butter masala ๐Rogan josh lab ๐ซGarlic and butter naan ๐ฅGajar ka halwa ๐จPistachio kulfi The crispy corn ๐ฝ was not at all what i thought it would be. This is a heavily spiced and fried medley of battered corn and veggies ๐ง with touches of sweet, sour, and spicy. You hardly notice the corn until you hit a kernel that pops a spark of flavour ๐ข. The hara bhara kebab is my new flavour indian appetizer ๐ฟ. Its a fried spinachย and coriander patty that is deceptively bright green with a shell of breadcrumbs ๐. I had absolutely no idea what this was but was surprisedย to discoverย a wonderful soft earthy bite with very delicate flavours of greenery ๐ฑ. The curries were a total explosion of flavour ๐งจ. The rogan josh had incredibly tender falling part cubes of lamb ๐ with a wonderful spice gravy ๐ฒ. Its hard to describe the flavours when it melds so uniformly into a single spicy curry note ๐ถ๏ธ. The paneer tikka butter masala is more creamy with large slates of squishy paneer ๐ง. Its not spicy at all. You can taste more of the tomato mixed with cream ๐ .ย We were quite stuffed with all the curry and naan but we couldnt resist dessert ๐. Another new discovery for me was the gajar ka halwa, which is a carrot puree ๐ฅ that is warm with syrup and lifts you into a whole different world of deliciousness. Almost like a palette cleanser, the pistachio kulfi ๐ was basically a pistachio ice cream wedge. Maybe after the gajar ka halwa, I didnt find this ice creamย very sweet but I really appreciated the crust of pistachio ๐ฐ on the understand also also the additional pistachio decoration.ย ๐Thank you @ohbombaytoronto for the introduction to so many new Indian dishes. We ordered the famous Pho Duc Biet, the one with bone marrow. The broth itself was clear but rich. Flavours burst out in your mouth with bone marrow. We also tried Bun Rieu Cua, a tomato crab soup with rice vermicelli noodles. The broth was clearer than the one I had before, but its intensity grew as I continued eating. The sausage was so good and flavourful. Price is on the higher side, but its portion is huge. Seatings could be quite packed and tight. I hope the Hey7 location will be more spacious. The cruffins were great albeit a bit hard to eat and there was too much sour passionfruit filling to cruffin ratio imo but it still tasted good. Theres a lot of fun flavour combos i wanna try in tbe future too. The matcha is not good however. Barely any matcha flavour :/. The staff were soo nice and offered us discount bread bc it was the end of the day too lol.
