Went for a nice walk through Zanjero Park aka The Owl 🦉 Park. We didn’t see any owls 🦉 today (think it was still too early) but we saw some roadrunner and a dead bird ☠️. The kids got a little workout and dirt 🛁 running up and down the hill. And when Seraphina couldn’t walk anymore @broxton2030 stepped up and carried her on his back! If you want to check out the park better do it before the new 202 exit is built. The park will be destroyed and the owls relocated somewhere else. #podokids #zanjeropark

Burrowing Owl scanning the skies :) Zanjero Park is the only place in Phoenix, AZ that I was able to find Burrowing Owls. This burrowing owl is only 9 inches tall and they are diurnal (not nocturnal like most owls), which means they’re awake during the day. Quality > quantity. That’s the lesson I’ve had to learn over the past few weeks dealing with my ankle/Achilles injury/whatever it is. Nope, I haven’t taken time off from running like I said I would, but I have cut back on mileage significantly. This summer, I was running twice a day, 5 days a week, racking up 30 miles or more each week. I wasn’t training for anything, just simply trying to stay fit (& also dealing with exercise addiction that made me want to keep doing more & more, despite the pain I felt on each run). Now, I’m lucky if I get more than 20 miles in a week, & I’m trying not to run 5 days in a row like I used to (which has been hard not to do). I’m still dealing with pain during each run, but it’s manageable-ish. And not gonna lie, I do feel some guilt for running less, but then I’m reminded of quality over quantity. I’ve had some pretty solid trail runs the past 2 weekends that has me wanting to explore trail running more this fall & winter. Even if I can’t run as many miles as I was this summer, I can have more fulfilling runs and that’s what I’m focusing on during this season of uncertainty 🏃🏻♀️ #runningmotivation
