IN THEATERS: While THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON occasionally leans too far into cute territory and is entirely predictable, it’s hard to deny the strong performances of Shia LeBeouf and his costar with Down’s syndrome, Zach Gottsagen. Their scenes together are delightful and played with a much-needed light touch. Otherwise, the movie feels a little too much like it knows it’s a feel-good crowdpleaser. It’s never eyeroll or groan-inducing, but it dances on the edge a bit and kept me from fully embracing it. But I dunno, it seems like the kind of movie most people would eat up no matter what I or anyone else says 🤷🏼♂️
