✨ Special Olympics ✨ 📣 Calling all volunteers 📣 One of my favourite roles in life is with @specialolympicsulster . Our swim club @sixmilesharks is due for relaunch in Sept 24 🏊🌊 My question to you is, have you ever considered volunteering? Do you have a special interest in sport and would like to get involved with Special Olympics? Or maybe you know someone one who would like to take part? If any of the above applies to you, please reach out, send me a message and we’ll have a chat! What does volunteering involve? The club will meet at the pool one evening a week for approx 90 mins. The day and time is still tbc on this as is the venue, but it will be within Antrim and Newtownabbey council area. You do not need a swimming instructor qualification to be a volunteer, but you will have to complete all the appropriate safe guarding checks. There may also be roles within the Committee so if poolside isn’t your thing, there might still be an opportunity to come onboard. I promise you, you’ll love being involved! The club and our athletes need the support of volunteers to make it work, so as I said, if this has peaked your interest, give me a shout ✨ If you could all share this post as far and wide as possible I would really appreciate it 🙏. Am 19. April fand im Golfclub Johannestal ein Schnuppertag im Golfen statt. Trotz des Winter-Wetters sind über 12 Golfbegeisterte dabei gewesen. Manche sogar schon zum zweiten Mal! Alle haben toll mitgemacht und während der Trainingseinheit mit dem Golflehrer Markus konnte man schon erste Fortschritte sehen. Wir hoffen, dass das Interesse am Golfen weiter wächst und wir noch mehr Golf-Angebote in Baden-Württemberg bereitstellen können. OVER 7 DAGEN VERTREKKEN DE G-SPURS NAAR DE SPECIAL OYMPICS De Special Olympics is een sportevenement dat jaarlijks georganiseerd wordt voor mensen met een verstandelijke beperking. Van over heel België komen de atleten samen om drie dagen te strijden om een medaille op hun niveau in hun sport. De sporten die worden uitgeoefend zijn atletiek, zwemmen, badminton, judo, bocce en natuurlijk ook basketbal. Jaarlijks doen er ongeveer 3000 atleten mee. Dit jaar wordt het evenement in La Louvière georganiseerd van 8 mei to en met 11 mei. Dit fantastische sportevenement wordt geopend op woensdag door een openingsceremonie. Ook de G-spurs doen hieraan mee. Onze G-spurs bestaan in totaal uit 26 leden die wekelijks trainen en af en toe een tornooi meepikken. Voor de Special Olympics bestaat het team uit negen spelers: Laurance Demets, Andy Menson, Tom Demessemaeker, Jordy Vankeirsbilck, Kjell Haverbeke, Jurgen Buyck, Michela Yde, Domien Coucke en Anke Tytgat. De spelers worden op de Special Olympics gecoacht en begeleid door Flore Van De Velde, Chayenne Schuerens en Jana Vercruysse. The University of Central Missouri hosted multiple Special Olympics events throughout the year with more continuing during the summer. UCM worked with the Johnson County Board of Services along with other organizations to host Special Olympics throughout the school year. The university played host to Special Olympics bowling and basketball during the school year and will play host to softball in the summer. The events, held around campus, provided recreational activities to more than 60 families from around the area. The activities also provided an opportunity for local students to be volunteers. Basketball season is over, that means track season begins. It's Mister's first high school track season! I couldn't be there for it but Dad says he was having fun despite the cold. He participated the entire time! From stretching, to warm ups, to trying out the events. Dad says Mister chose the softball throw and the 50m run. His time to beat for the 50m is 16 seconds. We continue our partnership with Special Olympics and started a four-week golf program at Topgolf Pompano. 12 Special Olympics athletes attended the program taught by Chapter coaches Robert Ferzoco and Greg Mingo. Two more Special Olympics programs have been approved and scheduled for September and December.
