No one probably told you this 🫢... The majority of your TIME and EFFORT has to go into the planning of your goals. Yes, action is important. But what comes before your action? Your mindset. And this can be different from one day to the other. But what if you done all the planning in one sitting, whilst in your best mindset 💭 It's like going food shopping. The goal: Get food shopping The action: Go to the shop, food in trolley, pay. That would be hella stressful right? Why is that? Because you hadn't put the time and effort into the process and MADE A LIST! All sorts of things could go wrong (not enough ingredients, over/under buying, a loadaa snacks and not enough veg) And guess what... That would affect your whole week right? This might be an unpopular opinion, but… Being motivated won’t get you to your goals. But being committed will. What’s the difference? Committed to something means I am willing to do what it takes, go the hard way, stay the course even when circumstances tell me to give up. It’s fighting through the tough. Motivated means there is a desire to do or a willingness to do something. Your goals don’t care how you feel. I wasn’t feeling my best today and didn’t feel like working out, especially legs. I’ve been able to increase my deadlift reps one at a time each week which is challenging but not impossible. Not where I want to be yet but I’ll get there in time. Not being hyper focused on my weight while making sure I’m properly fueled has made a difference in how my workouts have felt overall. Only a couple of months into the new year and I’ve accomplished one of my goals, to squat 185 for 12 reps. Not only that, but I repped 225 for the first time. Mission accomplished. I also wanted to see if squatting over 200 for reps last week was a fluke. I’m proud to say it was not. “All gas, no brakes.” ~ Robert Saleh • • I’m in the home stretch, only 13 days until I step on stage for the last time this season. I hit my goal weight today and super proud of that. Not because of the number so much as how I look at that weight. After having done this many times I know where I need to be to look my best on stage. I’ve also retained a lot more strength during this prep than any other, which is a major win in my book. I believe a lot of it is due to having the proper mental attitude and not using a calorie deficit as an excuse to not work hard. That would be the easy way and nothing good comes from easy. Shifting your mindset from “I have to” to “I get to” makes all the difference. It has for me. I no longer see working out as a chore or something to just hurry up and get over with. Each workout is done with intention and is an opportunity to be better than I was yesterday. I don’t know if I’ll ever reach my goal, but I do know that it won’t be for lack of effort. Even if I don’t I am enjoying the hell out of the journey of becoming a better me. That’s the real goal! • On a side note, deadlifts felt good today so I thought I’d test my strength. Not only did I get 225 for 2 reps, I was able to get 245 for 1 rep. It’s been a while since I’ve done that. I am a personal development junkie. I love learning, I'm growth obsessed and I just can't get enough. 🤓 I'm the kind of person that highlights, underlines, dog ears pages and circles. I'm the person walking around leaving voice notes for myself and collecting a STACK of notebooks, furiously trying to capture all my creative downloads, ideas, and things I don't want to forget. But here's the thing about PD - you can listen to all the podcasts you want, read as many books as possible, watch all the webinars ... But it really means nothing if you don't IMPLEMENT what you are learning. Knowledge is power, but only potential power - it is the action that makes it real. Something I've recently started adding into my daily routine: 1) In the morning, I decide WHAT I want to learn about. Then I pick a podcast episode or a book very intentionally based on that goal. 2) I read out loud, or I repeat key points out loud to myself (this is seriously helpful, even if it feels a bit crazy!) 3) Before I go to bed I reflect on one thing I've learned during the day, and how I'm going to implement that into my life going forward. One takeaway, one simple action. It's simple, but powerful. ✨ What's one thing you want to learn and implement today?

It’s the only way to grow.” ~ Unknown • • An easy way to make an exercise more difficult without adding weight is to add a pause, in this case, at the bottom of the squat before ascending. This increases the time under tension and eliminates any momentum but they also reduce the amount of weight you can lift. The pause can be anywhere from 1-3 seconds.
