Happy #gotchaday to sweet Paisley🤎 A very rewarding part of rescue is when we can spay a breeder dog and be a part of helping her to begin to live her #happytail ! Here is an update from Paisley’s family It's been five years since Paisley found us and her forever home! When I look at her I no longer see a shy, scared pup who doesn't trust the world. I see a sweet, silly and spoiled girl, who is much more relaxed around people and other dogs. I never thought I'd see the day when she trusted a man, but my husband Dean has won her over through lots of patience, gentleness and of course dog treats. It helped that he also had a chocolate lab. Paisley loves hanging out with her little sister Mocha. Although her early years may not have been good ones for this former puppy mill Momma, we are so glad that she's living her best life now and that we are able to see this wonderful change. So thankful to 3rd Coast Lab Rescue for bringing us together and for Jenny, Paisley's foster mom who loved and cared for her first. #3rdcoastlabrescue #adoptdontshop

She has been a wonderful addition to our family now for three years. We have never seen a dog that makes constant eye contact with you when you talk to her. She fits right in with our retired lifestyle. She goes on two walks a day. Loves going for rides in the car. In fact she gets a little edgy when she hasn’t gone for a couple days. All it takes is a spin around our small town and she’s a happy camper. Boo really loves laying on her cooling mat this time of year. She is a big girl, 108lbs. But with her DNA test coming back as black lab/St Bernard mix it explains her drooling and large size. Overall, she has been such a joy to have in our family. She gets so excited when our grandsons come to visit. She was totally meant to be a part of our lives. We love our Boo girl!❤️ #3rdcoastlabrescue #adoptdontshop

We are playing a little catch up on our April #gotchadays!! Seeing sweet boy Ozzie living his #happytail with all his buddies just makes our day!! Here is a report from his family🤎 Five years ago (April 27), we were the lucky ones to adopt Ozzy. From the first day we met him we instantly fell in love with him. We like to say he is the "perfect dog" and honestly, we are not too far off. He loves his daily walks, his playdates with his other chocolate labs, Murphy, Hank and Lucy (who is a 3rd Coast Alumni) and his newest Golden Retriever nephew Homer. Due to some email difficulties we have a couple April #pupdates to catch up on… Here is a very happy #gotchaday for our buddy Stu (fna Blu) This happy boy is a doll and very loved by his family. Here is what they have to say Hi there! We can’t believe Stu (formerly “Blu”) has been with us for 5!!! Years! This past year, he lovingly welcomed a new rescue pup, Sprout, who is only 1/10th of his size. Stu continues to LOVE frisbee and being outside. He started a fitness program this year at FitDog to help him maintain healthy muscles and joints. Although he’d rather swim, he is doing great in the underwater treadmill every week. We still can’t believe we found the best dog in the whole world, and we feel lucky every day we get to spend with him! #3rdcoastlabrescue #adoptdontshop

We have our last April #gotchaday and it’s a special one! Sweet Lucy (fna Junie) was adopted as a wonderful senior and is celebrating her 3rd gotchaday! Here is what her awesome family has to report!🖤 She is just the sweetest gal we could have ever asked for. She is full of sass, loves naps and snuggles, is always up for an adventure. She is at her goal weight, but surely doesn’t miss out on any treats. She loves to visit her grandparents, go camping, sneak veggies from the garden, and this year had really found a love of the water. HaPpY #gotchaday to Max! It is so heartwarming to hear when our rescues find their #happytail🖤 Here is a #pupdate from his family! I’m not sure if words can express how much we love this boy of ours. We adopted him to give him a better life and while I can safely say he has the best life with us, HE made our lives so much better. A little about Max… He is a little demanding when it’s time to eat. His “tummy clock” goes off twice a day and he has no problem waking you up to remind you 😂 He loves his walks and chasing the squirrels and birds in the yard. He is not super into toys, but he does have one “baby” that he likes to carry around. He is a really calm, chill dog and is most content when his people are all in the same room and he can lay in his bed and snooze. Wanted to give you an update on our pup, Maxx, who we adopted in April 2021. Maxx continues to bring our family such joy! He loves to snooze in the sun and play in the snow and water which we have plenty of in Michigan. We live in an area surrounded by woods so we hike often and he never met a swamp he didn't love to jump into! We look forward to many more years of muddy paws and sloppy kisses. Happy second #gotchaday to Cooper!! We are happy to hear how well he is doing and share the many faces or this silly boy! Here is what his family has to say… Cooper came to live with us 2 years ago, and we couldn’t be happier! He loves morning walks, snoozing, providing his opinion on various activities, snow, and snooping on the neighbors. He dislikes the ringing of the telephone, rain, and sharing his couch. Happy 2nd #gotchaday to Maggie. Here is a sweet #pupdate from her family Hello from Maggie’s mom and dad! We just celebrated Maggie’s second gotcha day and have some great and some not so great updates. Maggie has made some major strides in the last year. She has gained a lot of confidence. Last fall she ran into the lake and went swimming for the first time (see pic)! We were even more shocked when she grabbed a tennis ball and retrieved it from the lake multiple times! This is a dog who has NEVER played with any kind of toy since we’ve had her and she was acting like a Lab. Needless to say, we shed tears of joy. We were so proud of her. Maggie has been battling chronic UTI’s which may have led to some of her odd behaviors in the past. Lately we have been keeping them under control and she has been much more outgoing and social. About a month ago, Maggie started having seizures. She’s on a couple of medications that really seem to be working and we are so grateful. We love her sassy self and we celebrated her day with a cheeseburger for her and her fur brother. Thank you for letting us love her and be her family! #3rdcoastlabrescue #adoptdontshop

What a wonderful story about adopting a “more mature” dog 🖤 We have a sweet #pupdate from Wellston’s family We adopted our Wellston Morgan at the age of 7 1/2yrs old after losing our golden of 13+ years to uncontrolled seizures. We agreed to go “dog less” for awhile to travel, save money, enjoy retirement. HAH! I lasted almost a month before I was struggling and searching in the middle of the night for another dog. My husband wanted a dog less than 4-5years old (don’t have to be going through losing them too soon) but when a friend recommended 3CLR to me and I saw Wellston on their adoption page, I got busy making application! My husband was reluctant but after talking to Shari (our adoption coordinator) and meeting him, we were both in love and never once looked back❤️! Adopting an older dog comes with tremendous benefits - they know things, house trained, calmer, more laid back but can certainly be “puppy crazy” at times and I think they realize how lucky they are to be loved and cherished for the rest of their lives. Our guy is 12 now and certainly slowing down but still enjoying camping, car rides and treats and makes us laugh every day with his quirks!! His first mom has kept in touch and I hope she knows how dearly loved he is and will be til his last journey with us by his side and I will always be grateful to 3CLR for bringing him to us❤️. We are sharing an #acrosstherainbowbridge post from Easton’s family. We are so sorry to hear of his passing, but are happy knowing he lived a great life. Here is a memorial post from his family I am reaching out to let you all know that Easton, formerly known as Altos, from the Whiskey River pack has passed away. He battled GI lymphoma and was such a strong little guy. He brought us so much joy, love, peace, happiness, care and kindness. We literally loved him with all of our hearts and nothing can replace his beautiful soul. Easton was truly a unique little guy. We called him our kitty boy because sometimes he would act like a cat. He will forever leave an imprint on our hearts. Here’s a few photos of him. Thank you for bringing this special soul into our lives. Happy first #gotchaday to Yogi and his sister Luna (also a 3CLR alum) is getting in on the action, as sisters sometimes do💛🖤 Here is a sweet #pupdate from their family! When we adopted Yogi, March of 2023, we had previously adopted Luna also from 3rd Coast in September of 2021. We thought it would be nice to add another fur baby and have a friend for Luna. Yogi warmed up to us fairly quickly, adjusting to his new home. Yogi loves to play with his sister and his hooman brother and sister. He also likes to go on walks, eat and run around the yard. Outside he enjoys sniffing the air and relaxing while keeping an eye on the neighborhood. Yogi is a stern house protector, sometimes to his disadvantage. If Luna wants Yogi's toy she'll trick him into thinking someone is at the door and then run back and grab the toy for herself. Yogi has a sweet and loving personality and has been a great addition to our family. Luna is also doing well and was our first fur baby we adopted from 3rd Coast. Luna adjusted to us right away and was the only dog in the house until Yogi. Luna and Yogi became fast friends and love to play with each other. However, from time to time Luna does believe she is in charge. She likes tricking her brother to get toys she wants. She also likes eating Dentastix, playing in the yard, walks and loves being pampered with tummy rubs and pets. Yogi also enjoys a good behind the ear scratch and putting his head on our laps. So many great dogs have been adopted and fantastic families have given them the homes they deserve! Here is a #happytail #gotchaday from Silverado’s family! We adopted Silverado in March 2020, yes, right as covid had started. He came from a difficult situation and I wasn’t sure how he would do when I picked him up, but he jumped right in my back seat and wasn’t coming back out. He’s my buddy, follows me everywhere, and I mean everywhere, sleeps on my feet so he knows when I’m getting up out of a chair. He truly believes that he is a lap dog. Hates storms and loud noises and has been known to hop into the bathtub when he hears them. Known here as Ra, by my grandkids and is the sweetest and is the gentlest dog. Wow! We can’t believe it’s been 5 years since the rescue of the Harry Pawter litter! Here is what Josie’s family has to report.. Josie (formerly Hermione from the Harry Pawter litter) continues to do great! She's 5 already and gets more and more colorful every year, both in terms of her coat and personality. ;) She's a loyal protector of her human siblings, fierce defender from any delivery person who dares enter our yard, and expert relaxer when she's not on delivery watch. We have a super great #pupdate on Jack… FNA Jumbo Jack! Jack was adopted by one of our foster families that have made sure he will live a long healthy life! Here is what Jack has to say about his #happytail Hi, my name is Jack. I am 6 years old. I used to live with a very nice lady, who felt guilty because she couldn’t walk me. She let me talk her into feeding me whatever I wanted to eat! When she gave me up for adoption, I weighed 144 pounds. I couldn’t really walk… just waddle. My foster parents fell in love with me and adopted me last April. They put me on a diet and gave me a lot of exercise. I now weigh 82 pounds. I am very happy now and run with my pals at the dog park almost every day. Life couldn’t be better! My mom and dad still foster other dogs, which is fun for me. #3rdcoastlabrescue #adoptdontshop

We have another pup that found a happily ever after #happytail ! Happy #gotchaday Ellie 🖤 WOW 3rd got you day!!!! It seems like you have always been here with us and controlled our hearts! When we picked you up, you were 2 weeks from your 5th birthday. You were unsure, scared and wondering now what? Then…you walked through the door and checked out every room. You sat on every piece of furniture and ran around the yard. We think you knew then THIS is your furever home and you were truly LOVED. Ellie is the most loveable dog. Everyone here loves her and our extended family, friends as well as our neighbors love her. She did come with one quirk. She hates all other animals…. chipmunks, squirrels, cats, dogs and deer. But that’s ok because we love her. Ellie took to my husband immediately. She and I had a little set back ... .but once we had the I AM the leader of the pack convo she knew she was safe with all of us and loved. We recently had a #pupdate on a puppy mill baby named Mabel… This is another awesome #pupdate from Mabel’s sister Millie. These two came to 3CLR afraid of life.. and look at them now🖤🖤 Here is Millie’s #gotchaday pupdate from her family🥰 Millie just recently had her 2nd gotcha day, January 17th. She was 6 months old when I adopted her, coming from an Amish puppy mill out of Clare. She has settled in pretty good, that took a while, she still has a few anxiety moments, separation anxiety for one, she’s very much a Velcro dog with me as she’s with me 24/7. She barks at men and is a little fearful of them, but has never nipped and lashed out. She takes a few minutes to warm up but usually loves everyone especially the grandkids. We’ve had to invest in a fenced in yard as she likes to chase those pesky rabbits and squirrels out of the county and her ears are useless 😂. She loves car rides, pup cups, (yes she’s spoiled) swimming, leashed walks and fetching balls. You can never have enough of those! She loves her fur brother (Pauly the cat) and you can find them sleeping together all the time. All in all it’s been a good year and look forward to another. That one pic I sent with the split side by side shows the difference from 1 yr to 2 years she’s filled out and more adult looking now. Another #happytail showing how rewarding it is to adopt a deserving dog, and skip the “puppy” stage 💛 Here is a #pupdate from Miley’s family… We were thinking about adding another dog to our family but we didn't really want to do the whole puppy stage again. We wanted a younger dog but not a puppy. We saw a friend of ours rescued from 3clr so we checked into it. We sent an email and literally a day or two later Miley was up for adoption. She was exactly what we were looking for. We passed our home visit and went to meet Miley and took our other lab with us. Who could say no to that face! It was a big adjustment for all of us, but especially Miley. She had serious separation anxiety and to be truthful we wondered what we got ourselves into. We did not give up on her and there were many obstacles along the way, but with time and patience we all got through it. We showed her that she could count on us and we won't ever leave her. It took over two years before I feel like she relaxed and realized we were her forever family. This year will be 7 years since we adopted Miley, and we wouldn't change a thing. She is the most loyal and loving dog we have ever had. When we want another dog we will definitely turn to 3clr. If you are thinking of adopting, DO IT! We are so happy when both the adopter and the adoptee were always meant to be🖤 Here is a #pupdate from Stevie Rays family… I'm a little late in sending Stevie Ray's 1 year gotcha day--it was on Jan. 21, 2023. Adopting him was the universe's way of pulling us together! Through our collective imperfections, we fit together perfectly. He's my office mate, has a bossy older sister who he loves, and gives all deference too, runs through our 1.5 acre yard as if he is a race horse (and it feels like it) and the biggest love bug on the face of the planet. We are so happy to share his #happytail from is mom… This I believe is our 5th Gotcha day for Oakley, he was part of the Harry Potter litter. He is such a great dog and he and my husband are the best of buddies. In the real rescue it is my husband as he is beyond in love with Oakley. Oakley loves to look out the window and wait to see something he can bark at, he loves to go outside and lay in the sun in the winter and he does love to beg for food. After losing my German Shepherd suddenly to cancer in 2019, I wanted to adopt. I couldn't stand my house being to quiet. A family member adopted from 3clr and had nothing but good things to say about the rescue. I knew I wasn't up to the puppy stage. So I decided to adopt an older dog. The whole process was very easy and my coordinator was awesome to work with. She matched me to Charlee a 5 year old lab mix. He has been such a joy to my life. A complete love bug, snuggles, and loves everyone and everything he meets. Aggie would like to thank all the nice people that helped her get a name to call her own🤎 Aggie was found as a stray by a nice lady that turned her over to our rescue after searching for her family. Aggie was transported 196 miles on Saturday to her foster home. She was microchipped, vaccinated, got food, a new bed and blanket, a pretty purple collar and leash and few toys of her own! She will be spayed and tested for heartworm and intestinal parasites and get her rabies shot on Thursday. While Aggie is not yet ready for adoption… we have our Adoption Process on our website 3clr.org that explains the process of making one of our deserving rescue dogs yours! Happiest first #gotchaday to Zeus! Somehow these pups just end up right where they are supposed to🖤 Here is a #pupdate from his family! We can't believe it's been a year since we adopted our Zeusy Zoo! It's been such a joy watching him seamlessly fit into our little family. He is the BIGGEST snuggle bug, is obsessed with chasing squirrels, and quite the swimmer. He sings along to every emergency siren and eats everything and anything (including Dad's airpods & gaming controller). The best part of this last year is how inseparable he has become with our 8 year old chocolate lab, Koda. They are the bestest buds and Zeus has Koda acting like he is 2 again! Clearly, this boy found his perfect forever family🖤 Here is the wonderful #pupdate from his family… Creed joined our family on 2/12/23, we are celebrating his first Gotcha Day anniversary in just a few weeks! He came to us from a family who loved him very much and he was well taken care of, healthy, and very well-behaved when he came into our home. We were lucky to have found such a sweet boy who from day one fit right in with his new brothers (one other Lab and two cats) and has been loved and part of our family ever since. He recently celebrated his third birthday and is still as playful as a puppy. He has learned that after we fall asleep at night that he can join us in bed where he does not move until the alarm clock goes off. At that point it is like Christmas morning in Creed’s world. He becomes the happiest boy, jumping, playing, and climbing all over until everyone is awake. Morning and feeding times are his favorite times of day! He has had quite a first year with us, spending a lot of time camping over the summer, enjoying long walks, and swimming in the big lakes. He even participated in a Halloween costume contest, wearing his costume that his previous family made for him. He most recently went on a play date with his best friend Mac at an indoor pool and had the best time swimming and playing. Hi Everyone, It’s me, Miss.B here for my weekly report! And I’m hear to announce I am filling neglect charges against foster mom Here’s the story Picture this…it’s November 2, 2023…I’m one day post up and locked in Alcatraz You want to know what day this was…that’s right it was my BIRTHDAY! No cake, no ice cream, no presents no fan fair of any sorts…just being locked up like a criminal when I hadn’t even been charged with a crime yet!! I spent many a days celebrating beagle brothers birthday and Mr.B’a birthday but I’m just tossed to the side Well, I couldn’t just take this lying down. Who you gonna call…no not ghostbusters…GRANDMA! And thank goodness for grandma. She agreed that foster mom should have been ashamed of herself. So I jumped right in the car and over the river and through the woods we go! I pulled on up and said “Get in loser, we’re going shopping” And immediately we headed to my favorite barkery for a well deserved treat! Grandma said I could pick out a treat for myself, beagle brother and Mr.B…I said how about three for me!?! Now you might think this story is about to have a happy ending, but we keep it real here. I was crushed to learn that there were no pumpkin delicacies at this fine establishment. So i settled for a boxer brownie and snarffed it down like the best of them! Since beagle brother is still working on my defense and we haven’t won my case yet, I did not owe him half of my treat. Which is good because I don’t like sharing! Still hoping for an acquittal for my muffin murder trial! We can’t believe how fast those 5 years have gone by. She has come a long way. We learned from the beginning that she is an anxious dog, the couch was her safe place and we had to hand feed her in the beginning. Long gone are those days, she still has her triggers but we’ve learned what they are and help her through them. She’s an excellent big sister to her younger puppy brother and human brother. Soon she’ll have a human sister to love on too. We always laugh at how well she does for her age, keeps right up with her puppy brother. She loves being outside, loves to go camping, and she even made it up to the UP last summer. She also loves a good nap, she’s the loudest snorer in our house. We call her our weirdo dog, she makes us laugh daily- always doing something weird. We love our Lilly girl and am so glad she’s part of our family. #3clralumni #3rdcoastlabrescue #adoptdontshop

We have a #pupdate from a special family that adopted a terrified puppy mill baby. These dogs take very special handling that can go against our instincts to shower them with human affection. They actually can need “no touch, no talk and no eye contact” to feel safe. We are so happy to hear about all the progress Mabel has made🖤 Here is what her family has to say: We adopted Mabel two years ago and her transformation required a lot of patience and love but the journey has been so worth it. Mabel spent the first six months of her life in an Amish puppy mill. After three weeks with a wonderful foster family, I brought her home. Her first few hours were spent backed into a corner in our laundry room completely terrified. It was heartbreaking but I knew we would do everything we could to give her the best possible life. Our initial goal with Mabel was to get to know her and determine the best way to reduce her fear and anxiety. And there was a lot that Mabel was afraid of including (but not limited to) people in general but especially men and children, stamping snow off boots, outstretched hands, strangers saying her name and looking at her, garbage and delivery trucks and loud noises. She also had separation anxiety. On the plus side, she loves other dogs, tirelessly chases balls of any kind and the water except if it results in a bath. Our other dog, who was nine when she joined us and had lost his lifelong companion six months earlier, accepted her very quickly which was surprising to me since he is not always good with other dogs especially ones that are bigger than him. He taught her how to view the driveway from the back of the couch and she keeps him active now that he is eleven. It's been a win-win for them both. Mabel still requires a bit of time to warm up to new people and is still terrified of children but she is making progress. We can also now leave the house for more than a few hours without her destroying anything! Hi Everyone, It’s me Miss.B here to sadly report it appears this may be my last post… Here’s the story If you thought the pumpkin muffin saga was in the past, I’m here to say unfortunately it’s not I am facing some very serious new charges, 10k+ followers and I can only hope one is a prominent defense attorney willing to take up my case Flashback- It’s October 2023, full on pumpkin spice season. Foster mom has fought off the crowds for her coveted gluten free Trader Joe’s pumpkin muffins. Then, to her absolute horror she came home to find an empty container and all GF muffins missing Immediately I became suspect number 1, exhibit A below did not help my cause. I can confidently say that nutrition label was planted on me! As the case was circumstantial at best foster mom and I agreed on a plea deal. That’s right, I implicated foster dad as the pumpkin muffin thief. You may remember we all agreed I’m too cute to do hard time Now, flash forward to present day. Foster mom had just come home from picking up her car from a very expensive car repair so she was already salty. And she walked in to the crime scene below, Exhibit B 😬 Now here’s the thing, I’ll admit the evidence against me is not looking good. My paw prints were all over the scene, there is security footage of me tampering with the crime scene, and DNA pumpkin muffin mix all across my whiskers Im not exactly sure how I’m going to get out of this one and as a repeat offender I’m looking at some serious time in the doggy slammer. 11 months in foster care. Bi lateral TPLO surgery. 45lb weight loss. 3 months of therapy. 2 weeks out from being cleared for adoption and this is how it ends?!?!? Orange is just not my color, we all know I bleed green!! We were very excited to get a #pupdate on Bert’s second #gotchaday! You might remember a #happytail from Bert’s brother Ernie a couple weeks ago. These 2 super sweet boys were strays that made their way to 3CLR and found their forever families that love them both very much🖤🖤 Here is what Bert’s dad has to share! As we approach our two year gotcha day with our goodest boy Bert, we wanted to provide an update on his year. Bert continues to enjoy his daily walks and exhibit his impatience when Dad takes too long to get ready to roll. All it takes is getting my shoes on to prompt his chomps and howls to get it moving. As we also sit dogs for others, he has enjoyed being a gracious host and spending times with his many canine friends over the year, both big and small. He loves swimming and lounging by the pool in the summer along with playing ball toss. He is also sure to loudly alert us of any delivery truck passing by! Finally at the end of the day, he enjoys relaxing and snuggling up on the couch and our bed to rest up for the next day. Honey is now 12 years old and still thriving with some difficulties in walking and hearing. She still is such a sweet dog and loves kisses and hugs! Stella had a TPLO surgery two years ago and runs and plays without any issues. Hi Everyone! It’s me, Miss.B! Can you believe it’s Wednesday again already! The rescue has an exciting new fundraiser coming up but unfortunately foster mom has found a new cruel and unusual punishment Here’s the story! Guess what I am officially 6 weeks post op of my second TPLO surgery and man “I FEEL GOOD, I knew that I would now” I’m cruising on my walks, doing my therapy exercises and loving the ladies at therapy! Now you would think this would be cause for celebration, but nope no cookies for me. You want to know how foster mom rewarded me for my progress…A BATH! Come on foster mom! What kind of reward is this! I had to have a conversation with grandma about how mean of a daughter she has! Happy first #gotchaday to sweet Rainy! When she was surrendered to 3CLR she was found to have heartworm. After treatment she found her perfect family! Here is what her mom has to say.. My husband and I adopted Rainy in December 2022, and every season this year she has surprised us with her sweetness, silliness and sassiness. She loves to walk twice a day and snuffles in the pollen, shuffles through leaves and romps in the snow. Every morning she rolls around on her back, seeking attention and belly rubs to start the day. On the vet’s recommendation, Rainy lost 18 pounds and at age 9, she acts like a younger dog. She enjoys fetching a ball in the lake and baking in the sun afterwards. Rainy decided her job is to keep our little family pack together, and she’s happiest when all 3 of us are in the same room. She won’t go to bed at night until both of us humans have retired to the bedroom. She was a star student during her training, and she’s learned all our routines. She lets us know when we’ve deviated from our schedule – especially her dinner time. Hi Everyone! It’s me Miss.B and that’s right it’s already time for my Wednesday Weekly report! This report is for my fellow doggos! Humans are going crazy this time of year, am I right? We need to band together to keep things sassy and our humans in check!! Here’s the story First and most important Id like to see a copy of the foster contract, because I’m not sure where it says anything about being required to wear ridiculous Christmas Jammies! Foster brothers say there is nothing we can do about it, as our treat dealer, we have to keep foster mom happy by wearing the Jammie’s or she will withholds the goods! Is anyone else going through this? Here’s what I say I can do about it… 💛After foster mom cleans up all the stuffies pull them ALL back out…make foster mom work I say 💛If foster mom is running late for work, sniff EVERY blade of grass growing in the yard before going potty on our walk. I shouldn’t have to be rushed because of foster moms time mismanagement 💛Socks are never safe, steal em at all costs 💛If foster mom says no couch I say plot the couch’s escape from Alcatraz and push that gate out of the way and help yourself to the couch 💛Avoid eye contact with the camera! No Kodak moments for you foster mom! 💛Plot with the cat to knock over the back door cookies again and again and again. If foster mom doesn’t leave to move the cookies her loss is our gain 💛Break into the trash! What’s foster moms trash is a Labradors treasure! December 3rd marks two years with our sweet Ernie! He has come such a long way since we adopted him, and we’ve seen him gain confidence and trust in situations that previously would’ve made him quite anxious! This summer marked his first overnight stay at his favorite doggy daycare and he did such a great job and had a fun time playing with his friends! Ernie loves playing fetch in the yard, going for his daily walk to scout for squirrels and rabbits (😂) and running around the house with his stuffed puppies. Ernie has been the best boy and we couldn’t have asked for a better or sweeter dog as first-time dog owners. Hi Everyone! It’s me, Miss.B and you know what day it is! That’s right it’s Wednesday which means time for my weekly pupdate! And you know I like to keep it real so I’ve got the good, the bad and the ugly! Here’s the story! First up the good! If you had asked me on Thursday I would have told you I was having the best day of my life! Foster mom might have been a little heavy handed with her wine pours because she was in a very generous mood!! I was served a proper thanksgiving dinner fit for the queen that I am AND grandma brought us special Turkey and mashed potato cupcakes from the barkery for dessert for foster brothers and I!!! God love grandma! Mmm mmm good!!! The bad- the sink broke and there was a lot of muttering from foster dad. Thankfully I was able to provide world class supervision and foster mom was able to provide some free tips on the best way to fix a sink and as luck would have it we got it!! Way to go foster dad! Now the ugly!! Aunt Claire snitched on me, is there nobody in this world a Labrador can trust?!? Here’s what happened…I’m spending the week with Aunt Claire and cousin Ollie has some very delicious food. The first night I thought I was doing Aunt Claire a favor by licking Ollie’s bowl clean so she didn’t have to clean it. She didn’t seem to be grateful. So the next night Aunt Claire put Ollie’s food in a crate. Well I said, I can’t let food go to waste and I shoved my head right into that crate and ate all of cousin Ollie’s food. Then the next night I was STARVING because aunt Claire was late with dinner and I knocked my food every where I got the vibe Aunt Claire was displeased but no regrets I say! #staysassy isn’t my motto for nothing! Happy Monday 3rd Coast Family! It’s me Miss.B here for a special Monday report! Leading up to giving Tuesday I wanted to highlight a couple of my friends! We are apart of a very special club! We were all patients at the Animal Surgical Center this year. Not a club I want anyone else to be apart of but goodness are they the best there!! Here’s our stories and our costs 😱 Zane came into the rescue 4/2/23. He was an owner surrender after being shot in the leg. Animal surgical center recommended amputation based on the severity of the injury. $2,388.70 and 66 days in foster care later Zane found his forever home ❤️ As you might remember I met my buddy Isabella on my way to my first surgery! Isabella came into the rescue after breaking her leg. $5421.42 and 78 days later I’m sad to report that her surgery thus far has been unsuccessful and she is still limping and appears to be in pain. We will be giving it a couple more weeks and then the decision if we should amputate will be made. Thankfully the rescue is fully committed to ensuring Isabella gets the care she needs and is still in a loving foster home And not to brag or anything but in addition to being the sassiest 3rd Coast Foster I have also been then most expensive. $7761.25 and 278 days in foster care and still counting! 😬 Total between the three of us we have hit $15,571.37 and 422 days in foster care. We wanted to share a very happy 1st #gotchaday about a very special boy! 🖤 Diesel came to 3CLR with heartworm in June 2022. After heartworm treatment and being neutered, as well as his routine care his medical expenses were $1603.67, and he was in a foster home for 5 months! As you can see from the photos his family sent of his last year, he was worth EVERY penny of those donated dollars🖤 We are happy to see, from his #pupdate that Diesel now celebrates every holiday!! Another happy November #gotchaday to share about this sweet gentleman 💛 Here is what his family has to say! Our sweet boy Lewis has been part of our family for 4 years now. He has survived his first full year of being a big brother to little sister Tillie. He's not always excited to share attention and toys, but we can tell deep down he likes her. Lewis also became a crate dog for the first time this year at age 8, after a few too many adventures in the trash can while his people were out of the house. It seems to help with his anxiety to know that he has his own safe space to be. He still loves swimming, hates skateboards, and wants to be near his people at all times. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! We have received so many #pupdates this month that we thought we’d share one this evening, especially since we know Flash is so thankful for 3CLR and his new family🖤 Here is what his family has to say… One year ago, on November 19, our Flash came to live with us thanks to 3rd Coast Lab Rescue and his foster mom Lauren! He had just turned 4 years old. At first, he was confused and nervous, but he quickly warmed up to us. He became a GREAT big brother to our smaller chocolate lab (Mosey) and is now our constant shadow, following us everywhere! It was obvious that his previous owner had spent time training him and he already knew the basics, but we wanted to take him to a class in order to bond with him. So, we took him (and Mosey) to an intermediate obedience class. The instructor was surprised at how responsive he was to us when we had only had him a few short weeks. This past summer included lots of walks, visits to the dog park, and swimming. This dog is the epitome of a retriever and will not stop retrieving until we force him to stop. One year ago, on Nov 20th, 2022 - Philly ( formerly known as Frank) came into our lives thanks to 3rd coast lab rescue and his foster dad, Mark. Philly took a while to warm up, now is he the sweetest, gentle soul we didn’t know we needed. He continues to amaze us more and more each day. He is the best “big” brother to Motown. He loves going to his cottage, his twice daily walks, getting all the sniffs and smells and stalking all the rabbits and squirrels Grosse Pointe has to offer. People ask, “Does 3CLR ever get puppies?” Occasionally, we are asked to take on a homeless pregnant dog. While we all love puppies, this is a big financial and volunteer undertaking! He has been on so many vacations, and he loves all the seasons- we can’t decide if he prefers swimming or jumping in mounds of snow. Wally is a very loyal and loving boy that enjoys playing hide and seek with our kids. We love his playful demeanor, but love his sweet snuggly side even more. Hi Everyone! It’s me Miss.B here for my weekly report and today I have some great news!! I have been paroled from Alcatraz Here’s the story! I am officially two weeks post op today! It was a tough 2 weeks but thankfully I made it through!! Unfortunately the couch is still in jail, which I’m very upset about and constantly advocate for its release so I can get up…WOOF While I have been officially released from Alcatraz I’m not fully out of the woods yet. I’m still on house arrest and hoping to get clearance for 5-10 minute walks from the parole officer (surgeon) today! I still have to wear a tether (pronounced leash) every time I go outside to make sure I don’t get too excited and try to do the zoomies I’m also stuck in this BS donut because foster mom says something about not being able to lick blah blah I say. Speaking of donut… Grandma brought over special treats to celebrate Mr.B’s adoptversary. I thought it was unfair that I got the smallest one, something about my “diet” but I guess I’ll take what I can get. Does everyone see how I’m treated like a 2nd class citizen here! I’m going to my first therapy appointment this morning and will make sure to keep you updated on my progress! Fingers crossed I’ve reached my goal weight so diet can go out that door baby bye bye bye Stay Sassy Everyone! Here is what Bo’s family has to say: Hello my name is Shelley Kuhn and this is my big beautiful Bo. He was adopted November 7th 2020 right before his 1st birthday. Patty says this big boy was her favorite. He had a battle with parvo before I got him so he was very thin at the time as a puppy. But here we are... 3 years later. The Bo Bear has been living life to the fullest climbing waterfalls, getting his quad rides, trail running throughout the Great Lakes, and riding along with me in the firetruck at work or getting treats from the dispatchers and the other firemen. He has had the pleasure to greet children at parades, ride in the captians chair on the ferry to Mackinaw Island, and melt the hearts of everyone he meets. It has been my greatest pleasure to watch this shelter parvo puppy grow up to be the loving gentle giant he is today.
