What a wonderful and fulfilling day at Alpha B Dog Training! 🐾 Today, we had some incredible success stories that I simply have to share with you all. First up, Daisy the cocker spaniel cross Labrador and Whiskey the fox red Labrador achieved some amazing milestones during their canine conditioning session. Whiskey managed to breathe on the treadmill for a whole minute, while Daisy surpassed her previous stamina achievement. It's so heartwarming to see these furry friends pushing themselves to new limits. Next, we had Stitch, a beautiful rescue golden retriever, who is working on building her confidence in the outside world. Despite her nerves, Stitch exceeded our expectations and handled her emotions like a champ. Gracie the German Shepherd also impressed us with her progress in building confidence and improving her obedience skills. And let's not forget about Mabel, the Romanian rescue who arrived in her new home feeling completely shut down. Today, Mabel made huge strides by overcoming her fear of passing cars and coming out of the house with a fresh mindset. It's moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. Of course, Molly the black Labrador was her usual good girl self, bringing a smile to everyone's faces with her sweet demeanor. I wrapped up the day with our Reactivity workshop, where the dogs showcased their ability to disengage from distractions and reengage with their owners. It's all about creating a multidimensional approach to training that brings about long-lasting results. After 4 months in foster care through @hopeanimalrescue , Oscar went to his forever home 🎉🎉 Oscar, or Chunk as we call him, has a lot of personality and he could be a little spicy 🌶️ But we knew his person was out there and that there would be someone who understood him. They came along last week, and for them it was love at first sight. They understand it’s a big world for an 8 lb Chihuahua, and appreciated that he was vocal in letting them know his boundaries. They handled him with care and he felt comfortable with them right away. Oscar will be the only doggy- the king of his castle, just the way he likes it. Happy Monday, all! We have 20 adoptions to celebrate this week, including a pair of special long-term residents! In total 4 cats, 13 dogs, and 3 small animals found their forever homes. Darla came into rescue at barely 2 years old and was experiencing severe and unexplained seizures. She was a special foster and we knew she would need a special forever home. Last week we celebrated 4 years of SIMBA! As I sit and think about the last 4 years of Simba I realized that I often take him for granted. He truly is the most perfect dog. I don’t say this lightly, but out of the dozens and dozens of dogs we have had in our house, Simba truly beats them all out. He is always up for whatever I drag him to, he loves every single human he meets big and small, and he ALWAYS is down for a new doggy friend. Lea is a 4 year old terrier mix who was found with her son, Ruben, on a very busy highway just north of Merida, Mexico at high risk of being run over. Some Good Samaritans were able to pick the dogs up and bring them to safety at our rescue partners shelter. 🐾 Lea can be a little bit reserved and is more independent than her son, Ruben, but likes people and likes to be pet. She likes to play with other dogs but will shut it down when it’s too much for her. She has the most adorable underbite, and loves a good head scratch. She currently lives happily in an area with approximately 10 other dogs, and does well with all. We have some heartwarming news to share—Pele and Fidget, our cherished Cerebral Hypoplasia kitties, have found their forever home together! 🏡❤️ These bonded beauties have been through quite a journey. They grew up in a courtyard at a condo in Chinatown, where, unfortunately, the board voted to remove them—facing a grim fate of being dumped or killed by a pest control company. But fate had a different plan! Last October, Lucky Paws stepped in to rescue these special kitties, giving them a safe haven and preparing them for a loving indoor life. Despite their CH, which makes them wobble as if the ground beneath them is moving, their spirits have never wavered. Yesterday, Pele and Fidget were adopted by a wonderful family, ready to provide them with love and stability. We are overjoyed and grateful to everyone who supported their journey—from peril to paradise. Thank you to all our supporters for believing in the magic of rescue and the beauty of adopting special needs pets. 🚨ADOPTION ALERT🚨 Want to hear a cool story? Haverty the lab (photo 2) was dumped behind Haverty’s Store near Wolfhcase shopping center (hence the name). A sweet lady actually saw a truck stop, put something out, and drive away. She circled back, just on a hunch, and there was this precious, scared little Lab pup. A post was made on FB, and we just happen to be driving back from Jackson TN when we saw the post. We were literally near the exit to the shopping center! So off we went. We met the lady and a kind security guard that was holding Haverty. We explained we were a rescue and would take him. The guard was happy, and the kind lady was grateful. She explained she had an older dog at home and bringing in a pup would be not a great idea but she was absolutely not going to leave him. She asked what rescue we were, we told her, thanked her and off we went with the little lab. Fast forward three months, and that very same lady had begun to follow our FB page. Alyse (photo 1) was adopted a few months back and it did not work out due to conflict with the other dog. When she came back to the rescue, that same lady who helped Haverty applied for Alyse and wouldn’t you know, it’s a pawfect match! Sweet Alyse has a puppy sibling and the best new mom! As for Haverty (photo 2), he recently went on a week trial adoption and it did not work out due to him doing things he never has done before: digging, chewing things up, etc. VERY much not his style. But this week, he also found his happy tail with one of our foster families who actually fell in love with him a few weeks ago when they vacation fostered him. When they heard his trial week didn’t go well and he was available again, they scooped him up that day! Haverty now has two puppy siblings and will be the best playmate for many future TOH foster pups! Both dogs are doing great now and are exactly where they were meant to be.
