Trauer-Rosenkäfer (Oxythyrea funestra) am Feldrand - der Käfer dürfte ziemlich frisch aus der Erde ans Tageslicht gelangt sein, denn seine Behaarung ist noch ziemlich dicht und wird bald spärlicher. Bereits im Herbst ist er aus seiner Puppe geschlüpft, verbrachte dann aber noch den Winter über im Boden. In seiner Larven-Vergangenheit knabberte er an Pflanzenwurzeln, nun ist er zum Pollen verzehrenden Blütenbesucher geworden. Neben seinem hell gesprenkelten "Trauer-Look" kennzeichnen das ziemlich große Tier sechs Punkte in zwei Reihen auf dem Halsschild. Through the magic of the internet and an incredible VW community I finally got the 4th OG paint wheel that was missing from @wendydisaster and my '61 Beetle project. I didn't know it at the time but there are a few 1 year only pieces that are a little tough to come by. A huge thanks to @worth_vwfab , @johnnybarndoor and @lazzilla for all having a hand in making it happen. 1st pic is how I got the wheel. The 2nd is after some #clr and #0000 steel wool followed by heavy compounding and finally sealer. What a difference! 3 and 4 are one of the others I also cleaned up.
