The process is rather gruesome and lengthy, but the end result is beautiful specimens that will hold up to the test of time. Hey there! Just wanted to give you a little peek into one of my favorite pieces (shh, don't tell the others, they're all my favorites too). I've been getting a lot of questions about my creative process and how I bring my ideas to life, so I thought I'd share a bit about that with you. With this particular piece, I started by carefully arranging the orb weaver spider and various dried flowers until I was happy with how they looked together. I made sure to coat everything in a protective layer of Mod Podge before encasing it in resin. While those were drying, I painted the frame and started on the first layer of resin. I used three different shades of interference powder to create the opalescent effect. Once the first layer was almost dry, I arranged the spider and flowers in their final positions, using the resin as a kind of glue to hold everything in place. After that, it was just a waiting game as I added thin layers of resin, patiently letting each one dry before adding the next. Thanks for letting me share a bit of my creative process with you!
