Seven years and about 2500 kids later, our @biancaraefoundation team agreed this retreat was unlike any other. After the isolation of the pandemic, kids had a hunger to share, be heard and be seen like we’ve never experienced before in the history of our program. In addition to the breakout groups dealing with self-esteem building, overcoming life’s obstacles, anti-bullying and good decision-making - we worked with kids to help them solve personal issues they had with gender identity, body image and, as we heard most often, the weight many of these kids carry to help their single-parent family’s run the household. Today’s kids have SO much to deal with. I am in awe of them and how they are persevering. Here’s to our wonderful volunteers and donors who made this happen - and our excitement already to start planning the 8th Annual Rae of Hope Retreat of 2022. He’s a stray who has never had human contact so he’s very timid with humans, opens up around animals. He’s a gentle lover, our volunteers have been holding him and loving on him for hours!
