This month, we celebrated Ms. Melinda Gill, winner of the "Elementary Teacher of the Year" award from the Los Angeles County Industrial and Technology Education Association! The celebration began at the HBCSD School Board Meeting and culminated at the LACITEA Annual Awards Banquet held at the Knott's Berry Farm Hotel last night. Ms. Gill, our View & Vista SPARKS Lab teacher, was presented the award by former Hermosa Valley teacher Sandi Tsosie and her son, Eddison, a current Hermosa View student. Ms. Gill was nominated by Eddison's grandfather, Terry Tsosie, who volunteers in her SPARKS Lab. Terry shared these kind words about Ms. Gill: "Melinda Gill is a giver; she gives each student personal attention while introducing team-building and problem-solving activities leading to STEAM principles.
