After the cold, some believe ear infections are the most common illness for children under 7. This is because the Eustachian tube (the tube from the ear to the mouth) is horizontal. As we age it moves more in a vertical position for more drainage to occur. The inability for natural drainage, keeps fluid in the ear which causes and decrease the ear's ability to work at 100% capacity. Think about YOU learning a new language while sitting under water! It would be very difficult. A child with reoccurring ear infections can be negatively impacted when it comes to language and speech development. Signs of an ear infection can include: * Fever *Trouble sleeping *More fussy than usual *Tugging or pulling at the ear *Fluid draining from the ear Possible treatments are antibiotics or putting tubes in the ear to help with drainage that a pediatrician or ENT will address. Interactive? ✅ Fun? ✅ Air conditioned? ✅✅✅😂 Summer has definitely arrived in LA, so we beat the heat with @veenacrownholm and headed to the @skirball_la to check out the new Noah's Ark exhibit. It is truly incredible! The space is large and chalk full of interactive sensory experiences, gorgeous animals in every nook and cranny made entirely from recycled objects (like shoes, jump rope handles, egg beaters, even a Coach purse!). As if that's not enough, there are also group activities led by staff (music, anyone?) and the most spectacular puppets wander by to interact with the kids (check out my Instastory for a peek!). .
