Here's. my Thursday Project post. I stopped about a month ago, because I wasn't seeing much change. A couple of days ago, I noticed the swaths of golden yellow in the marsh. Maybe the marsh has moved out of lush green spring mode and into summer mode. We've continued to have more rain than normal, but we've been lucky in this corner of NH. The first two shots show the marsh from different angles. The first is looking out from my deck. The second one is from the pond at the end of our street. The wildcard shot is of a patch of daisies I walk by every morning. They look like they just opened, but I think they've been out for a couple of weeks or longer. A lovely summer day. Definitely into the green phase of the salt marsh. The first shot is from my deck. The second one is from the "pond" near the end of our street. The third is my "wild card" shot. I found this large in tact shell on the beach. I don't usually see one this big and complete. I initially picked it up to take to a friend and then decided that was silly. So I set it on the seawall for someone else to find. I then headed home. Got partway back to my street and decided to keep it. I turned around and walked back. It's been a funny week, mostly gray, raw, and occasionally rainy. Met another walker this morning, fighting the very stiff wind, and his comment was "Hard to believe it's May!" Sure is. Thursday Project post. This was initially intended as a way to follow the color changes in the salt marsh. After this week's storm, there isn't much color to see. Mostly white, but the marsh is still interesting. The second shot is of the "pond" near the end of the street. There's been an incredible volume of water going in and out of the marsh the last few weeks. Again, not much actual marsh to be seen. The third shot is my wild card shot. I let myself include one other thing of interest. Today, it was a very busy and noisy flock of gulls at water's edge. It's unusual to see this many together. Must have been something good in the water. They were all clustered at the south end of the beach. Lovely winter morning, gray but not particularly cold. I find the beach endlessly fascinating, the waves, the flotsam, the seafoam, the changing topography, and of course the birds. Almost low tide, but not exactly quiet. The second pic has an oak leaf. There were several there on the beach, but no oaks close by. I often wonder how things appear here. The third pic is my favorite. There was a great blue heron on the beach this morning. I don't remember ever seeing one there before. And January isn't prime spotting season either.
