What do you know about Dracula, the Wolf Man, and Frankenstein’s monster, all being in the same movie. The positives: * the look of John Carradine as Dracula (not his acting, I prefer Lugosi in the role) * a few impressive shots / scenes: including the no mirror reflection, long shadow on the wall, and the full moon hitting Talbot’s face * Beethoven’s music * Wolf transformation to and from * The doctor being infected by Dracula’s blood and seeing what he can accomplish The negatives: * They never could figure out the flying bat prop * Frankenstein doesn’t have much to do. He was just thrown into the mix. * The ending has no great showdown. The “monsters” really don’t battle each other. This is not one of the better entries but it’s ok. Miloš Forman — Taking off. (1971) Ce film est le premier film de la période américaine de Forman que je vois — enfin, j'avais vu Amadeus il y a très longtemps mais je n'en ai quasiment plus de souvenirs donc ça compte pas — et c'est d'ailleurs le premier film qu'il a tourné depuis son arrivée aux États-Unis. Le film aborde principalement la rupture générationnelle entre celleux qui avaient une vingtaine d'années à ce moment-là et leurs parents ; le film m'a donné une impression assez bizarre car il est très structuré mais ça ne l'empêche pas de finir un peu au milieu de nulle part. Dans une première partie, le film montre d'une part un couple qui est à la recherche de sa fille et d'autre part, les extraits d'une émission musicale du type Le petit conservatoire où l'on voit la fille en question ; le film scinde vraiment ses personnages en deux groupes : d'une part, les parents qui cherchent leurs enfants qui ont fugué et d'autre part, les enfants qui vivent leur vie dans la ville ou dans cette émission musicale dont des extraits sont parsemés dans le film ; dans la seconde partie, on dirait que les parents modèlent leur conduite sur celle de leurs enfants : après s'être rendu à une sorte de congrès d'une association de parents abandonnés, l'organisateur de la soirée fait passer des joints qui tournent parmi les parents puis on suit les parents du début qui ramènent un autre couple chez eux pour jouer au strip poker et que tout ça se finisse avec le père qui chante le tube de La traviata en caleçon sur la table jusqu'à être aperçu par sa fille qui est entre temps rentrée à la maison.
