All the way back in 1997, I remember going to the theater seeing this and LOVING it. When it came to video, I must've watched that tape 100 times. Not having thought about it in awhile, I recently rewatched it and I gotta say "George Of the Jungle" holds up. Honestly, It's what the not as good "Rocky & Bullwinkle" movie wanted to be. The cast is all great, the writing is clever and funny, and it doesn't over stay it's welcome. ๐ถ Random item post ๐ถ In 1968, Dupa (Belgian artist) came up with the idea of creating Cubitus/Dommel/Wowser, a big white dog who loves bones and lives together with a professor. Fun little comic stories which have been made into an anime series called Dondon Dommel to Ron / ใฉใใฉใใใกใซใจใญใณ. The anime series was produced in 1988 by TV Tokyo and has 52 episodes. I absolutely loved this anime as a kid, because it's so funny and the characters are cute. I think the Dutch dub has been done fine as well, like most older anime in that time. Today I was able to buy two of the episodes Dutch dubbed on VHS (old...), so I'll have to search unopened moving boxes for my vhs player ๐ ๐ Dommel is the first ever anime series I've watched, I think that was around 1997/8, before I discovered Pokemon ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ What was the first ever anime you've watched? ๐ปโโ๏ธ P.s. Godzilla Vs. Biollante Alliance Video 1998 - Iโm not sure why, but Biollante has always been a massive pain of a movie to find on home video. The fact that this, and only this, was released by Alliance when the whole catalogue got unleashed to coincide with the Tristar movie tells me it was a rights issue. Oddly, I also remember getting this not from a conventional video store like Wal Mart or Samโs, but some kind of weird, small cheap shop. As much as that Widescreen sticker is awful, and naff, I love that they went with the Japanese advance poster art for a cover. The movieโs rarity is frustrating given that itโs actually pretty good, with even the human plot proving somewhat engaging. Itโs based on a story submitted for a competition which is pretty cool, and probably why it stands out so much. Itโs a rarity in that Godzilla is portrayed antagonistically but gets a nemesis in the fairly interesting plant monster Biollante. Iโm surprised sheโs never came up again, as sheโs definitely one of his more unique foes.
