April is Autism Awareness Month, and in honor of this, we would like to recognize 911 Communications Officer, Sandy Eaves. Sandy, who has a firsthand understanding of the spectrum, wanted to offer some insight on autism and how she finds ways to help the community she serves. One of her most memorable calls was from a child who had been bullied on a bus ride and had called 911 as he was walking home from the bus. “He just needed someone to talk to” she says. She said she was able to explain that bullying is never about the person being bullied, but about the bully themselves. “This made him feel so much better to know he did nothing wrong. This Telecommunicator Tuesday is all about Senior Communications Officer Paul Miller! Paul has been providing excellent service to the community and fellow co-workers for 15 years. Paul is a Training Officer and enjoys educating new Communication Officers and he helps them to excel in their new position taking. Some of Paul’s key highlights of his career include delivering a baby over the phone, and saving multiple lives via CPR. When Paul is not handling calls in the center he tries to participate in social events with the community such as Avalon Night out or other opportunities to help educate the public on the Public Safety Communications Profession. Trying to keep a healthy work/life balance is hard, but Paul has found many outside hobbies and interest. You can often find him spending quality time with his wife, playing with his dogs, reading, or even exploring the Atlanta areas for new and exciting adventure. Ben is part of the Public Safety Support Services and Technology team and focuses specifically on our NG911 center. Ben started with the City of Alpharetta as a 911 Shift Supervisor in April 2006. With his passion for technology and organizational skills, he eventually transferred to the Technology Division. Ben has been involved in and managed several technology projects that make our NG911 center one of the best in the state. This is not the case! 🙅🏻♀️ ⏮️It ultimately comes down to helping a cyclist achieve their optimal position on their bike. A setback allows a rider to sit further back, and this can be helpful on an “aggressive” frame or a frame that’s on the small side. ⏭️A zero setback seatpost can assist a rider by positioning them further forward. This can help with a frame that is too large and allow for better control of the bike. It’s hard to know what category you fall into, but the good thing is that you have a fair amount of room to adjust with the seat rails alone, and oftentimes you can get away with either style.
