Disability Arts Online is a completely remote organisation and our small team is spread around the UK. Recently we went on our second annual away week. We use this time to work together in person and also have some much needed social time together in the evenings.Ā  Here are a few photos from our week spent in Dorset, we were joined by our team dog Eddie and we even had a cake made in the new DAO brand colours (so this is a little sneak peek for you!) One of highlights of the week is the playlist, this year our Content & Communications Assistant Kate was in charge. Each team member had to pick a song to relax to, a song with a beat, the song they played most last year and a song from 2004 - the year DAO was born! We then turn it into a bit of a game and try and guess who chose which songs. The song accompanying this post was a team favourite, can you guess who put it on the playlist? Image 1: A white and brown short haired dog sat looking out of a front door. Image 2: A laptop sits on a large coffee table covered in large pieces of paper with writing on. In the background a group of 3 people are deep in discussion. Image 3: Four people sit on two sofas working on laptops. There is a coffee table in the foreground covered in paper and post it notes. Image 4: A woman sits by a large coffee table making notes on post it notes and large pieces of paper. Image 5: A brightly coloured cake on a black cake board. The cake is covered in blue, orange, yellow and grey icing in a mottled effect and has piped multicoloured swirls on the top. Image 6: A view of the top of the cake with multicoloured swirled icing round the edge and one swirl in the middle. Image 7: A short haired brown and white dog sits on a leather sofa with his chin on the arm, looking at the camera. In the background is a young mixed race man smiling at the dog. #DisabilityArtsOnline #DisabilityArts #Disability #Arts #DisabledArtists #Disabled #Artists #Artist #Remote #RemoteTeam #AwayWeek #TeamBuilding #AccessibleWorking

This is #brandstorming at it's best A couple of months ago I was invited to Treloars to talk to a class of students about an exciting project that they have been working on as part of their business class and how to turn it into a viable brand. 'Let Me In' was an idea one of the students (all of who have a wide range of physical disabilities), had to formulate a business plan that businesses could be audited on their accessibility by the very people it affects, from simple ramps upto doors or auto entry buttons to fully designed routes and equipment throughout a building allowing disabled people to not only access places of work but also move around and fully fulfil their roles. Yesterday I was back to see how Hannah and the other students and teachers have progressed with some of the key takeaways I left them with. They have identified key target audiences, identified their brand personality and voice, looked at competitors and found their unique point of difference. They have also started to mock up some visuals on how the brand could look and some logo options. They have even set up their social handles and pages and domain name and there was excitement in the room as they had reached their first 100 followers on their Instagram account after just a few days of setting it up. šŸ‘ Why not make their day and give them a follow on Instagram @letmein_uk Next week we get creative as I help them refine and design their logo and visual identity from their initial ideas. It is so inspiring to be able to help out and be on this journey with them and if your business is considering improving its accessibility or providing provisions for disabled working then why not speak to Hazel Wark or LĆ©onie Jackson at Treloars to chat about booking an audit. #learning #accessibility #accessibleworking #accessibleliving #branding #brandpurpose #brand #brandidentity

Journalist and campaigner Anna Whitehead launched her 'Flex Appeal' back in 2015 to give workers the legal right to request flexible working from day one. The government's new Flexible Working Bill has now been passed and it means more accessible working for all. Everyone now has 2 chances a year to put in a flexibility request and employers have to respond within 2 months and consult with employees if they decline. This is great news for anyone with a disability - it makes work more accessible and gives employers access to a wider pool of fantastic talent! . . #flexappeal #flexibleworkingbill #flexibleworkingrights #accessibleworking #flexibilityrequest #flexibleworking #disabledaccessibility #disabilityintheworkplace #accessibleworking #disabledaccess #inclusiveenvironments

@lighthouse_futures_trust is an organisation with a mission of changing the lives of young adults. They design and deliver engaging employability programmes that include opportunities to work with a range of local employers via a supported internship. Their curriculum focuses on two areas ā€“ Liveability and Employability ā€“ and is aimed at students aged 18+ with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) who just need some extra support in order for them to fulfil their potential. They work with those with mild to moderate learning disabilities, others are on the autistic spectrum or have social, emotional or mental health support needs. They support students to develop skills so that they can forge their own pathways in work, accessing specialist support as and when they need it, but taking ownership of their future, from the start. ā€œA while after signing up as an Astriid candidate, I was contacted by Lead Candidate Coordinator Patricia. She asked whether I was IT literate and whether Iā€™d be interested in learning more about the tech world through a course with @withyouwithmefierce. Within a few days of saying yes I received an email inviting me to sign up. I researched the company, and at first I wondered whether it was a scam because it sounded too good to be true! However, a few days later I had a call from the team at WithYouWithMe, who told me a bit more about the company. After this I completed some initial tests, and the results were absolutely spot on ā€“ they really understood who I was and how I worked.ā€ Today on our blog weā€™re sharing an interview with Astriid candidate Meesh, who is currently completing her inclusive online training course with tech company @withyouwithmefierce. Meesh lives with many chronic illnesses, and you can read more about her journey so far by heading to the ā€˜Newsā€™ section on our website. Weā€™re incredibly proud of the progress Meesh has made so far and we canā€™t wait to see what the future holds for her! ~ [Hashtags] #Astriid #AstriidCharity #Employment #Work #Working #FlexibleWorking #InclusiveWorking #AccessibleWorking #FlexibleEmployment #InclusiveEmployment #AccessibleEmployment #Charity #SmallCharity #CharitySector #UKCharity #ChronicIllness #ChronicallyIll #Disability #Disabled #Spoonie #UKCarers #InvisibleTalentPool #DiversityAndInclusion #TechJobs #WithYouWithMe #OnlineTraining

ā€œA lot of people with chronic illness will understand when I say this; transitioning to being a chronically ill person is hard. At university I did a full-time course and worked 5 or 6 part-time jobs just because I could. Then, in the first few months of being unwell, I barely left the house and had no energy to apply for jobs. I scraped writing my final dissertation in May 2020, and then the challenge of work appeared. Could I work at all? Is the working world accessible enough to people with chronic illness? How do I figure all of this out during a pandemic?ā€ Today on the blog we have an interview with the brilliant Meg Farrow! With Astriidā€™s assistance, Meg has secured a fulfilling role with @oneadvanced, in an environment that enables them to thrive. To read more about their experiences of being a disabled and neurodivergent graduate seeking work, the impact job-searching can have on your mental and physical health, and their interview and onboarding experience for their role, head to our website via the link in our bio. You can find Megā€™s interview, as well as many other success stories and informational guides, under our ā€˜Newsā€™ tab. What do you think are the challenges of finding meaningful work as a disabled and neurodivergent individual? The day will conclude with an auction, with many lovely prizes and experiences up for grabs.Ā  This event is taking place to raise vital funds for Astriid, but weā€™re also really looking forward to connecting with businesses and employers. Weā€™ll take any opportunity to showcase our services and our talent pool of candidates and talk about how we can work together to create a more inclusive workforce. Good luck to all the teams taking part in our charity golf day, and thank you for supporting Astriid! ~ [Hashtags] #Astriid #AstriidCharity #Employment #Work #Working #FlexibleWorking #InclusiveWorking #AccessibleWorking #FlexibleEmployment #InclusiveEmployment #AccessibleEmployment #FlexibleWork #InclusiveWork #AccessibleWork #Charity #SmallCharity #CharitySector #UKCharity #ChronicIllness #ChronicallyIll #Disability #Disabled #Spoonie #UKCarers #InvisibleTalentPool #DiversityAndInclusion #GolfDay #GolfersOfInstagram #Fundraising #FundraisingGolfDay

ā€œThis will be the first time that Iā€™ve ever earned any of my money through work. This is a very good feeling.ā€ Rory, who has Cerebral Palsy, was searching for paid work that matched his skillset. With Astriidā€™s support, he has now found meaningful employment where he feels valued and appreciated. Rory has a background in ambassadorial and voluntary work. Though these roles have equipped him with valuable transferrable skills, they have never resulted in a wage or regular income. He began his search for part-time work by approaching his local jobcentre. Fortunately, the jobcentre were aware ofĀ AstriidĀ and directed him to the platform, where they felt he would be best supported. He joined Astriid as a candidate and received one-to-one support and feedback on his CV. Rory then went on to speak withĀ Steve Shutts, Astriidā€™s CEO, who connected him with LSE ā€“Ā London School of Economics. IT has always been an interest of Roryā€™s and matches his skillset well, and he was therefore offered a position with the organisation centred around this. After beginning as a volunteer with the organisation, he is now beginning his transition into paid work. Rory believes that everybody should have something that keeps them occupied and fulfilled in life, and something reminds them of their self-worth and what they have to offer. Heā€™s thrilled to be at this stage in his employment journey! Here at Astriid, we match talented people with long-term illnesses with meaningful employment opportunities. We work with employers to make sure that they can meet candidatesā€™ needs, and help candidates through all stages of their ā€˜work-readyā€™ journey. Three cheers for Steve please! Hereā€™s what our Lead Researcher Catherine Hale has to sayā€¦ ā€œMy hubby Steve is taking up the Astriid Challenge to raise money for the brilliant charity I work for. Astriid connects people with long term health conditions with meaningful work. Iā€™m bigging up Steve because heā€™s my carer as well as my best friend. He does so many invisible, unsung things every day that lessen the impact of my disability. Without his support I wouldnā€™t be able to do the job I love at Astriid, helping businesses to recruit and support disabled talent. But Steve also deserves a cheer because he knows all too well the challenges of living and working with a long-term health condition from experience. And heā€™s seen first-hand the difference that a supportive employer can make. Like many of our candidates, Steve has multiple health conditions, mostly invisible and fluctuating. He has managed to stay in full-time work thanks to a good employer. Too many of our candidates havenā€™t been so lucky and need our support to connect them to employers who value their talent and empower them to reach their potential at work. So Steve is setting out on his Hilly Fields Hobble, aiming to walk 25km in a week for Astriid. For someone with multiple health challenges who struggles to hold down a full-time job as well as be a carer and a stepdad, that is a lot. I have to big him up because heā€™s way too modest and retiring to promote his own challenge! So please, if you are in a position to, consider supporting Steveā€™s efforts for Astriid. Your support will help others who face barriers to employment to find flexible and inclusive work.ā€ To find out more about the Astriid Challenge, head to www.astriidchallenge.org. ā€œThe key benefits of being back in the workplace is that it gives me a sense of purpose, and also Iā€™m working for organisations that make a difference in the world.ā€ Fiona, a former acupuncturist and complementary therapist, was first diagnosed with cancer in 2008. Her cancer treatment adversely affected her memory and eyesight which meant she was no longer able to work in her former role. Instead, she turned her attention to the charity sector and began to build up experience working in fundraising and communications. She started on a voluntary basis, and then began exploring paid opportunities. Incredibly, her input began increasing the income of the small charities she worked with by around 35%! In 2017, Fiona was diagnosed with cancer again. After a period of recovery, she felt ready to return to work but found she was struggling with fatigue. This made finding suitable roles much more challenging. Fiona reached out to Astriid, and our team matched her with Creative Alliance ā€“ a social enterprise that helps young people develop skills and find apprenticeships in the creative industry. Fiona is now hoping to pursue more consultancy work, because she wants to continue supporting charities and organisations that are making a difference in the world. Here at Astriid, we match talented people with long-term illnesses with meaningful employment opportunities. Today we want to wish the best of luck to the 31 cyclists embarking on our London To Paris Challenge to raise vital funds for Astriid! Over the next three days they will be covering 180+ miles over various terrain, crossing Newhaven, Dieppe, and Beauvais before finishing in Paris on the 18th of June. Our past fundraisers have told us this event is extremely challenging, but incredibly rewarding. Each participant is raising funds for Astriid ā€“ enabling us to continue supporting our candidates with long-term conditions and matching them with meaningful employment opportunities. Steve Shutts, Astriid CEO says, ā€œOur experience of running Astriid events like the London to Paris cycle is that the wonderful participants experience a deep connection as a team. Lasting friendships are forged in the process, with time spent doing something fun whilst raising vital funds for an extremely worthwhile cause. As a charity we are hugely indebted to these valiant individuals without whose help it would be even more challenging to run our small charity.ā€ From everyone at Astriid, we wish you best of luck and we look forward to hearing all about your adventures! šŸš“ā€ā™€ļø ~ [Hashtags] #Astriid #AstriidCharity #Employment #Work #Working #FlexibleWorking #InclusiveWorking #AccessibleWorking #FlexibleEmployment #InclusiveEmployment #AccessibleWork #Charity #SmallCharity #CharitySector #UKCharity #ChronicIllness #ChronicallyIll #Disability #Spoonie #UKCarers #InvisibleTalentPool #Fundraising #Fundraisers #FundraisingChallenge #LondonToParis #L2P #Cycling #CyclingChallenge #CyclistsOfInstagram

ā€œIt took me 20 years to get my first job. A lot of that was recovering, learning how to manage my illness well enough so that I could take care of myself. I tried every possible way you could think of to find work... Astriid made it possible.ā€ ā€ØA throwback to one of our earliest Success Stories! Victoria, who has ME/CFS, first became ill after contracting a virus. She became a full-time wheelchair user, and spent the following years finding strategies for managing her illness and living independently. Victoria achieved a competitive degree in maths and computing, but despite this, it took her twenty years to find her first job. She pursued every possible route of finding work with a long-term illness, and fortunately discovered Astriid. She signed up as a candidate, and found through applying for roles through the platform, she was finally making it through to the interview stages of recruitment. Victoria secured a competitive role as a SharePoint Co-ordinator, and now works as a Business Process Manager for the charity. ā€ØShe feels that the magic of Astriid is that the companies and businesses providing our inclusive opportunities have already said yes to the idea of employing people with long-term illnesses ā€“ itā€™s expected, rather than a surprise or something theyā€™re unprepared for. Being in work reminds Victoria that she can contribute to society and be part of a network, and it has been a huge boost to her feelings of self-worth. With Astriidā€™s support, she now knows that sheā€™s strong, hardworking and capable ā€“ all assets of a wonderful employee! ā€ØHere at Astriid, we match talented people with long-term illnesses with meaningful employment opportunities. As we count down to this yearā€™s Astriid Challenge, we want to shine a spotlight on one of our amazing fundraisers, Sue Cox. Ā  Sue has been a wonderful supporter and fundraiser for Astriid, and last year she joined in with the Astriid Challenge by biking over the month, raising an impressive Ā£202. Towards the end of last year, Sue also ran the The Stamford Santa 5K Fun Run, raising another Ā£350 for our work. Ā  This year, Sue is taking on the Astriid Challenge again, setting biking goals for herself over the course of the month. She will also be taking on some challenging walks with her friend and teammate Deborah Bircham, who also happens to be one of our wonderful Candidate Co-ordinators here at Astriid. Ā  Sue tells us why she has chosen to fundraise for Astriid: Ā  ā€œI feel passionate fundraising for this charity because although I do not live with chronic illnesses myself, which can leave people isolated for months/years, I do suffer with PTSD. My PTSD over the lockdowns, progressively got worse. I already was not going out, due to my anxieties, so relied on my friends coming to see me. When that was taken away, due to social distancing, my mental health deteriorated even more. So I could sort of relate to how people with chronic illnesses must feel.ā€ Ā  Sue, your support is invaluable to us. Thank you so much for your fundraising events, and best of luck for this yearā€™s Astriid Challenge! Ā  As a small charity, fundraisers are an essential part of our mission. If youā€™d like to set a personal goal for yourself and join in the Astriid Challenge next month, follow the link in our bio to find plenty of flexible fundraising ideas and to sign yourself up! ā€œIt was a wonderful endorsement, just to be able to reach out and get through the door, talk to somebody and make the right connection.Ā  You canā€™t beat a face-to-face conversation, but the challenge is, how do you get that conversation?ā€ ā€ØTim has a background as a Project and Programme Manager in corporate organisations. However, in 2017 he was diagnosed withĀ multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. Over the course of his recovery he began to grow stronger and turn his thoughts to the future. He wanted to find work after blood cancer, but felt that a lot of his confidence had been sapped away. ā€ØThe two-year gap on his CV as a result of his illness and his treatment seemed to pose an issue for potential employers, and it became a struggle to find meaningful work. Fortunately, at a routine hospital appointment, Timā€™s consultant recommendedĀ Astriid. He registered as a candidate, and one day received a call from Astriidā€™s CEO, Steve Shutts. This led to a successful introduction with an acclaimed organisation, and then a job offer as a Senior Project Manager. Being able to find work after blood cancer has offered Tim some much-needed stability, and had a transformative effect on his feelings of self-worth too. ā€ØHere at Astriid, we match talented people with long-term health conditions with meaningful employment opportunities. ā€œWhenever I describe my condition to others, I refer to myself as an ā€™in-betweenerā€™. Iā€™m not ill 'enough' not to work at all, Iā€™m well enough to do something, but Iā€™m definitely not well enough to work in a typical nine till five occupation or travel to an office every day.ā€ Pippa, a graduate who has ME/CFS, struggled to find flexible work in the charity sector. While she was looking for inclusive and remote work, she began her blog to explore her love of writing. Establishing an online platform, though only intended to be a hobby, eventually began to open up opportunities for her with various chronic illness charities and as a freelance writer. It was through researching for a freelance piece that she discovered Astriidā€¦ and felt an immense sense of relief. She signed up as a candidate and found herself talking to Astriidā€™s CEO Steve Shutts. Between them, they found they could both help each other. As well as her writing and presenting work, Pippa now also works for Astriid as a communications consultant. She finds real joy in working for an organisation that supports others who are facing challenges similar to her own, and sheā€™s proud to support the charity as it continues to grow. Here at Astriid, we match talented people with long-term illnesses with meaningful employment opportunities. Back in March we ran a free webinar for disabled students and graduates, focussing on finding flexible roles that were accessible for those with chronic illnesses. We were thrilled with the response (fully booked within days!) and how much engagement we experienced during the session - but technology wasnā€™t on our side and the recording we planned to make available for those who couldnā€™t attend on the day wasnā€™t up to standard for YouTube. Instead, weā€™ve just set a new video live on our channel - a recap of all the main content we discussed. We cover existing support services designed for people with chronic illnesses, things to look out for and to avoid during online job searches, and some of the ways you can be making yourself stand out as a candidate in the meantime ā€“ all with an emphasis on approaching these things in a flexible and energy-efficient way. We hope you find it helpful, either now or in the future - and of course, if youā€™re looking for meaningful work and could use some support, be sure to sign up as an Astriid candidate so we can lighten the load and support you along the way. You can find a link to our YouTube channel and a link to our website in our bio! We know lots of people have been waiting for this video, so thank you very much for your patience. ā€œI was very qualified for the jobs I was applying for, but I felt that I was being overlooked because I was declaring that I was still having treatment for cancer.ā€ ā€ØIn 2016, Claire was diagnosed with breast cancer. Itā€™s been a turbulent journey, but she now has a treatment plan and feels she is in good health. When she felt stronger and ready to get back into the workplace, Claire began applying for lots of different jobs. However, although she was clearly qualified for the roles, she was constantly being overlooked by employers. It seemed as though her talent and potential were automatically being overlooked because she disclosed herĀ long-term illnessĀ on the application forms. ā€ØFortunately, Claireā€™s sister had recently seenĀ an article about Astriid on BBC News. She encouraged her to reach out to the charity, and within two weeks of uploading her CV to Astriidā€™s platform, Claire found herself in a meeting with the CEO of a notable organisation. This CEO recognised her employability, as a talented candidate with a wealth of experience, and she secured the role. Claire feels that Astriid played an instrumental role in reminding herself and employers of her worth. The charity reminded her of her employability even after cancer treatment, so that she could once more feel like a valued part of the workplace. ā€ØHere at Astriid, we match talented people with long-term illnesses with meaningful employment opportunities. In 2020, 45% of a sizeable research sample of people with Long Covid were having to work reduced and part-time hours. 22% were left unable to work at all due to their health (@PatientLed, 2020). Further research found that 18% of people with Long Covid were having to take additional leave to manage their condition. 4% were even threatened with disciplinary proceedings for taking this increased time off. (@tradesunioncongress, 2021). A new report by the @CIPDUK has outlined the challenges that people with Long Covid are facing in the workplace - not only due to their new healthcare needs, but due to a lack of understanding about the condition and how working practice can be made more accommodating. Many of the report findings mirror barriers Astriid has identified in the wider chronic illness community, and we stand in solidarity with the Long Covid community. Based on roundtable discussions with HR professionals, the report offers recommendations for how organisations can effectively support those with Long Covid to return to and stay in work, focussing on different organisational levels. You can now read a summary of the report and these recommendations on our blog. Weā€™ll link the post in our bio! Here at Astriid, we help talented people with long-term health conditions (and carers) find meaningful work, including those with Long Covid. If you would like support, please register your skills as a candidate via our website and our team will be in touch. Through working with our candidates, weā€™ve found that a personā€™s confidence can often be knocked by the impact of long-term illness. Our talent pool is full of brilliant people, and yet many question just how much they have to offer in the world of work. However, you may have more transferrable skills from your everyday experiences than you might thinkā€¦ and we know that many of them are precisely the skills that employers and organisations are looking for. Today, we wanted to share just five of the many ways your chronic illness makes you more employable. You can find the blog post on our website or watch it in video format on our YouTube channel - both linked in our bio. If youā€™re preparing to enter the world of work, we hope you find it helpful! During the session, we covered questions to ask yourself before searching for placements, how to identify opportunities that will be most beneficial but energy-efficient for your interests, examples of workplace adjustments youā€™re entitled to as a student, and less ā€˜typicalā€™ examples of work experience and internships that are out there and waiting for you. Weā€™ve also left in the short Q&A session at the end of the webinar, and there are lots more helpful resources linked in the description box. Before our hardworking team begins signing off for the festive season, we wanted to wish all our supporters a very Merry Christmas! 2021 has been a pivotal year for Astriid, and weā€™ve been working hard connecting increasing numbers of talented candidates who have long-term health conditions with amazing employers and organisations. As well as supporting our candidates at all stages of their ā€˜work readyā€™ journey, providing bespoke training and mentoring, weā€™ve been doing plenty more behind the scenes. Weā€™ve been able to contribute to industry guidance on inclusive working, join forces with other charities and organisations to advocate for change, produce our own research report highlighting the current barriers people with long-term illnesses are facing in securing work, and so much more too. If youā€™re signed up to our newsletters (you can do so via our website!), keep an eye out for even more updates coming soon! All of that said, our work would be significantly more difficult without your ongoing support on social media. If youā€™ve interacted with our posts or shared them to help reach new audiences, or made a donation or fundraised for our work, we want to thank you in particular for being so supportive. Itā€™s difficult to advocate for meaningful change unless you have a wide pool of allies, and weā€™re incredibly grateful to have such a wonderful online community of our own. From all of us here at Astriid, thank you so much again for being here and for your support. Have a wonderful festive season, and weā€™ll see you in the New Year! . . . . . This weekend, our loyal supporter Sue Cox took on the annual Stamford Santa Fun Run (@stamfordsantafunrun) to fundraise for Astriid! Sue completed the 5km course in her fabulous festive gear, and in doing so has raised over Ā£350 to support our work, matching talented people with long-term health conditions with meaningful work. Thank you so much for your ongoing support Sue - it really does make a difference! And provides us with the perfect excuse to get the festive tunes on in celebrationā€¦ If youā€™d like to get involved with Astriid or fundraise for us, please donā€™t hesitate to get in touch with the team via our website! ~ [Hashtags] #Astriid #AstriidCharity #Employment #Work #Working #FlexibleWorking #InclusiveWorking #AccessibleWorking #FlexibleEmployment #InclusiveEmployment #AccessibleEmployment #FlexibleWork #InclusiveWork #AccessibleWork #Charity #SmallCharity #CharitySector #UKCharity #ChronicIllness #ChronicallyIll #Disability #Disabled #Spoonie #UKCarers #InvisibleTalentPool #Fundraising #FundraisingChallenge #SantaFunRun #Stamford

Remember our London To Torquay cycling challenge that took place in October? Weā€™re absolutely over the moon to share that through their dedication and fundraising, our riders raised a grand total of Ā£96,192 for Astriid!!! This extraordinary figure is a testament to our teams of cyclists who took on an incredible challenge to support our cause, at a time when Astriidā€™s work is more pivotal than ever before. These funds will help us cover the essential costs of running the charity as well as expanding our services, so we can continue helping talented people with long-term health conditions (and their carers) find meaningful work. To every individual who completed the cycling challenge, sponsored the riders, or simply spread the word about the challenge - thank you so much. You helped make this happen. Special thanks as well to our incredible sponsors for their ongoing support - Twleve Tabulae, Salesforce, Cognizant, With You With Me, and Advanced. Now, if youā€™re a cyclist feeling motivated to support our cause, do not fearā€¦ because registration is now open for our LONDON TO PARIS cycling challenge taking place in 2022! More on that coming soon, but for now you can find further information and register your place by visiting https://www.tfaltd.co.uk/london-to-paris-ch2022. Thank you so much again for your continued support. Youā€™re helping a small charity achieve big things, and we couldnā€™t be more grateful. Broadcaster @louiseminchin may be in the Iā€™m A Celebrity castle right now, but before she set off for her adventure she sat down with Astriidā€™s CEO Steve Shutts for a discussion all about ā€˜The Invisible Workforceā€™ and the challenges and rewards of connecting people with long-term health conditions (and carers) with meaningful work. Thank you @one_advanced for hosting this episode as part of the Working It Out podcast, and for your ongoing support - thereā€™s a link in our bio if youā€™d like to listen! . . . . . Did you know thereā€™s an easy and hassle-free way you can fundraise for Astriid when shopping online? Weā€™re a registered charity on Amazon Smile, so if you choose us as your charitable organisation, the platform will make a donation to our cause - at no extra cost to you. A perfect excuse to do some browsing in the run up to the holiday season, if you ask usā€¦ All you need to do to support our work through Amazon Smile is follow these stepsā€¦ - Visit smile.amazon.co.uk - Follow the on-screen instructions and search for ā€˜Astriidā€™ to select us as your charity of choice - our charity number is 1176645 - Place any future orders by visiting smile.amazon.co.uk and shop as usual - a percentage of the cost of your order will automatically be donated to Astriid, at no extra cost to you! They did it! A huge congratulations to our fundraisers who took on the London To Torquay Cycle Challenge for Astriid, arriving to a warm welcome at the Livermead House Hotel on Saturday! Thank you to our trustee Dan Rogers and our other amazing fundraisers for these amazing photos snapped en route. Our riders covered an incredible distance of 200+ miles over the three days, all in the name of raising vital funds for Astriid. Weā€™ll share our fundraising total soon, but you can still show your support by making a donation via the link in our bio. Thank you so much again to our fundraisers, sponsors, and event organisers for making this challenge possible! Our team of 40 cyclists taking on Astriid's London to Torquay Cycle Challenge are going strong! This image was snapped at the starting point outside the Advanced office, before the riders completed day one of the journey and arrived in Marlborough yesterday evening. ā€Ø Today is the toughest part of the challenge - a 7.15am start this morning, and the riders are currently partway through 83.1 miles of cycling that will take them to Taunton. ā€Ø It's no small feat, but it's for an amazing cause - each rider is fundraising for Astriid, raising valuable funds so we can continue supporting invididuals with life-changing health conditions and make the employment sector more inclusive for all. ā€Ø If you'd like to support our work and virtually cheer on the riders, you can sponsor them on their individual pages or via the donate page on our website. INCLUSIVE NETWORKING EVENT IN YORK, FOR PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC ILLNESSES! Join Astriid and York Cares on Thurs 11th November for an afternoon of free online careers networking! Weā€™ll be joined by professionals from Boxxe, Hiscox, Benenden and more York-based organisations who are looking forward to sharing their knowledge and meeting new people. During the event, you'll have the opportunity to speak with contacts in breakout rooms, gain valuable insight into different industries, and be part of an open conversation around inclusive employment opportunities. For more information and to register for free tickets, follow the link in our bio! This networking event has been designed with a regional focus in York, so we invite all those based in the city and surrounding area to attend. If youā€™re outside of this area, do not fear! Weā€™ll be hosting more regional events (online and in-person) in the future, alongside our existing UK-wide work. We hope to provide an environment that will encourage you to participate and make the most of the opportunity in a way that suits your needs. As such, weā€™re committed to making this event as accessible as possible, especially for people with energy-limiting chronic illnesses. There will be no obligation to have your camera switched on during the session, and youā€™re welcome to type in chat boxes instead of audibly speak if this is more comfortable for you. A recording of the talks will be saved for future reference, and there will be a point of contact available to answer any questions you may have after the event. You are also welcome to enter and leave the sessions as and when your health allows. If there are any other reasonable adjustments you require, please get in touch by emailing [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there! ~ [Hashtags] #Astriid #AstriidCharity #Employment #Work #Working #FlexibleWorking #InclusiveWorking #AccessibleWorking #FlexibleEmployment #InclusiveEmployment #AccessibleEmployment #FlexibleWork #InclusiveWork #AccessibleWork #ChronicIllness #Spoonie #UKCarers #InvisibleTalentPool #InclusiveNetworking #Networking #York #WhatsOnInYork

This is the kind of feedback we love to hear! Sandie is just one of the talented candidates weā€™ve supported in their search for inclusive paid work this month, and our number of applicants reaching out for our assistance is at a record high. Weā€™re on a mission to provide practical support, advocate for the employment sector to become more accessible, make the Invisible Talent Pool of people with long-term health conditions, visible. However, our resources are stretched like never before. If you or anybody you know are in a position to make a donation or fundraise to support our work, please do get in touch via our website. Thank you so much for your ongoing support!
