Last night we celebrated 10 years of creativity!! 🥳 With Mia Bird at the helm, in 2014 we opened Bird Studios, a space to provide training to young people in the creative arts, and welcome in our community with rehearsal space and classes. 🕊 In 2017 we opened up BRICTT with 30 degree students. We went on to affect the change of over 1000 young people with our mission to provide affordable performing arts training, with amazing industry connections and a focus on getting work. 🎭 In 2023 we opened up BN1 Arts with 98 diploma students, this time going one better being able to offer FREE training in music and performing arts for 16-19 year olds, with amazing industry connections and a focus on getting work. As well as a multicultural inclusive, diverse Arts Centre for the whole community run by Lorraine Davis. 🎼🎭 Our next mission is to ensure those kids that have not had the above opportunities get FREE access to music and performing arts training with our Keep Creative Arts Education Free campaign, and to ensure underrepresented groups have a creative home. A huge thank you to all the amazing people who joined us last night to celebrate, and who are offering their support and voices to our campaign. It was a truly fabulous evening. 💥We are very proud to announce the BN1 Arts Centre CIC Graduate Development Scheme💥 The scheme works with graduates from different artistic backgrounds to develop their already existing short play, choreography, composition, visual art or film. At BN1 Arts we give them the space, time and mentoring to work on creating a piece to be performed, played or screened at the Brighton Fringe Festival. The scheme gives students who have been studying at a university in Brighton the opportunity to perform in one of the UK's biggest festivals @brightonfringe Taking away the obstacles of affording a space to rehearse, a theatre to perform and a recording studio to mix etc allows graduates to make a positive start in their professional careers and develop their great ideas. This year's graduate @thedaisyfeeney wrote a 20-minute piece titled A Man Called Acceptance in which her cast performed a small excerpt from the play at last year's Brighton Fringe Student Showcase at Ironworks. Daisy has developed her script into a 45-minute play to perform at this year's Brighton Fringe Festival. Daisy trained at @ictheatre and graduated in the summer of 2023 with a 1st class honours degree in Acting for the 21st Century. 📢Calling all BN1 Arts musicians! 📢 🦌We are hugely excited to announce we will be holding auditions for Black Deer Festival on April 24th. 🦌 @blackdeerfest is an award winning celebration of an Americana Music so you must tailor your audition to the following genres: Country, Americana, Blues, Folk, Bluegrass, Acoustic, Singer/Songwriter, Blues Rock, Country Rock. 🪕🎸🎹🥁 ⛺️Black Deer Festival takes place on the 14th – 16th June 2024, in the beautiful surroundings of Eridge Park, Britain's oldest deer park. We've got a double bill of brilliance today for careers week looking at Music Management and Social Media. 🙌 George Quann is a manager and social media strategist. He is a London based artist manager with experience of working at record labels, both major and independent. George worked in a marketing and A&R role at Polydor Records and went on to run his own record label; Never Seven with Sam Eldrigde of Urok (Liam Gallagher, Jess Glynn, Plan B). George has a roster of five artists in varying genres and practices, including drill sensation Blanco, Cisco is a rapper and drill influencer, his latest single made Radio 1’s future artist show on March the 12th, Coming up in the rap space with a bright future ahead of him. Hailing from Camden, Cisco started releasing in February 2023 and has released seven tracks to date with his first of many out in March titled ‘Again n Again’. Co-signs include Kenny Allstar, DJ Target, Ellie Prohan, and other influential figures in the industry. Bex has just finished the West End run of new musical The Little Big Things which will be the focus of her workshop this Careers Week. This uplifting and colourful new musical is a life-affirming reminder about the transformative power of family, and how sometimes it really is the little things which matter the most. Our acting pathway have TV star Daniel Casey. Daniel is an actor and regular BN1 tutor. He is best known for playing DS Gavin Troy, the original sidekick of DCI Tom Barnaby, for the first six series of the long-running television programme Midsomer Murders.
