Been seeing a lot more "my brakes are squeaking/squealing/honking" customers lately. Most of these are resin pad compound brakes. They seem to be quite prone to glazing and contamination. We clean the rotors, sand the pads (as shown on right pad), even apply Squeal Out and the noise sometimes returns. Riding in the “Wild West”. 😉 I purchased and built this @opencycle Upper in 2017, and it’s still going strong. It’s still one of my favorite bikes. I love the versatility of swapping between 700c and 650b wheels. The frame is a great balance of handling, stability and comfort. I’ve ridden it across the VT XL course, 600 miles of mixed pavement and gravel in MT, countless miles on Iowa gravel and B roads, and it’s still fast enough that I’ve won short 60-120k gravel races on it as well. Things I’ve added/like on it: @schwalbetires Thunderburts in 650b, @redshiftsports shockstop stem, @selleanatomica seat, @sramroad DZero power meter, @shimano Ultegra / GRX Di2 with 50/34 CR and 11-36 cassette (yes this is out of spec), @hunt.beyond 650b wheels (and a dynamo hub set too), @flocycling gravel wheels in 700c (and like either @conti_road Terra Speeds or @tufotyres Thundero’s in 40 mm depending on the terrain) and I love both the @revelatedesigns Shrew rear bag and @apidura top tube bag. Upcoming changes… Apidura top tube bag for better waterproofing and @whiskypartsco for a bit more flare, less drop and shorter reach. If I was to buy again, I’d do everything the same with two exceptions.
