They’ve taken the show in a direction I was not expecting, a direction that feels like a betrayal to everything that has happened up this point and one I really don’t care for. So when I think of where the final season of the show I’ve been so passionate about will continue I feel very underwhelmed. But this is a story I started loving when I first read the book and I’m very compelled by both Nick and June individually and especially as a couple. So as much as I don’t want to be get my hopes up and be disappointed, as someone who has watched many shows and read many books and fallen for many fictional characters I can’t seriously think they will completely ruin who to me are the best one true pairing to ever grace our tvs. So at the start of the season I expect Nick to be back with Rose and June in some form of bizarre fever nightmare where she’s paired with her physical and mental abuser to some end that will go nowhere, and at some point will be back with Luke, to hopefully go their separate ways once they realise they’re only a “unit” out of guilt and shame for failing their daughter. Things will not look good for a lot of it. But hopefully by the end we have both Nick and June officially joining the fight against Gilead and going underground, ideally together (if I’m honest at this point this alone would make me very happy, things are this desperate.) Unfortunately I don’t expect them to end up “together,” I think they will be emotionally committed to each other and their love for each other will continue to be undeniable but I genuinely don’t see the stupid “love triangle” being resolved by the end of it. I don’t think he’ll be in trouble, or not real trouble, at the start of the season for punching Lawrence. I believe he somehow will be send back home and everyone will act like nothing’s happened. Because the showrunners want him in Gilead and remain an “ambiguous” character (talk about character development uh?) But I do think he’s likely to have a very hard and complicated season where he suffers and all things ugly happen to him. He will likely struggle and be very depressed without June and Holly, and with a Rose that now detest him, he will be forced by Gilead to do more horrible things so he’s “forgiven,” and I can totally see him getting into serious trouble, to the point of almost getting killed, later on. I really do hope that we get his Rebel plot and his Mayday and Resistance involvement (as we know he’s meant to have from both books) at some point before the show ends, I would love for it to be all of season 6 but I highly doubt it. So overall I don’t expect Nick’s journey in season 6 to be a happy one. | “I’ve got obligations now. New obligations.” | —————— ✽ —————— Q. Do you think Nick will ever leave Gilead? A. (SPOILERS FROM THE TESTAMENTS BELLOW) I sadly don’t think he will any time soon. I think the narrative is going to force him to stay in Gilead and stay in his Commander role for most of the season. But I love that they included this scene as a foreshadowing for Nick’s reasons to declined, temporarily, Tuello’s offer. This is a Guardian who has most likely been forced to do some questionable things, as all of them do, someone who would not leave Gilead even if he disagrees with it, enough to risk his life to make a difference and help this girl he clearly cares about, because he’s trapped where his family is. That’s what Gilead does. Gilead values the family so they force these young men and women to have children in Gilead so they can’t defect easily. That’s Nick. I also really like that we’ve shown more male involvement with Mayday. Like Omar, or the nice butcher from season 2. There’s several Mayday operatives in TT who are very important and also men. We know these “good men” are essential in MA’s world and that Nick is part of them. So I’d like to see him finally taking his place as the rebel commander of the Resistance he’s said to be in TT by the end of the show. I’m not sure if he would fully leave Gilead or he would simply go underground, either way he should abandon his position as Commander soon. I would really like to know more about these courageous women and men who risk their lives to fight against Gilead and I’m ready for June to embrace her fighter self. She will never be free as long as Gilead is standing. The only way out is bringing it down and she’s not going to achieve that whilst she plays house in Canada. I don’t know what S6 will bring but from TT we know both Nick and June join the Resistance so hopefully that’s where their journeys are heading, in the same direction. —————— ✽ —————— 5x03 - Border. 5x09 - Allegiance.

What do you think the future holds for Nick and June in the show? A. (SPOILERS FROM THE TESTAMENTS BELLOW) BM has said that June’s journey will follow its natural progression and I believe it was Lizzie who said that June will finally choose the woman she wants to be: June or Offred. I think she’s both, and I’m hoping she will embrace this fact by the end of the show and that Gilead and what happened there have changed her forever and that there’s no going back to who she was, and the only way to really hurt Gilead and the people who still hold her daughter captive is by moving forward, which is not the same as moving on. She has power, as Tuello’s told her this season, she can change things, as much as Nick can. She’s in a position of power where she can hurt them. And she needs to start acting on that, instead of playing house. And I like that this season June and Nick’s journeys mirrored each other’s. Both tried to move on and tried the more diplomatic way of hurting/changing Gilead and failed, both tried to make it work with their spouses and be happy without each other and failed, and both were given the option to fight Gilead at a moment in time when it wasn’t feasible. Even their endings are similar, both separated from their partners and seemingly out of options. I don’t think that’s the end of either of their marriages. June will reunite with Luke and Rose will put up with Nick because of the baby. But I do believe that their journeys are combined and that they’re better together. As Tuello said both can make a big impact in hurting Gilead. And I really hope that’s something that’s explored before the show ends. Which I really like because it’s Nicole, the best of both of them, who eventually brings Gilead down. —————— ✽ —————— 5x03 - Border. 5x10 - Safe.

A necessidade de mudança também surge para Serena, que, de todo-poderosa representante de Gilead, passa a uma posição de quase Aia, sofrendo na pele todas as agruras que antes perpetrara e cuja legitimidade defendera. Ela, que imaginara estar protegida em solo canadense, livre para exercer plenamente a sua tão desejada maternidade, vê-se compelida a baixar a cabeça, descer do salto e buscar aliados improváveis. Ela é capaz de tudo para estar com o seu filho, inclusive fugir e renunciar aos valores gileadianos, que ela própria ajudou a elaborar. (Ironia que fala, né?!) A fuga (mais uma!) será também o caminho escolhido por June diante da crescente xenofobia contra os americanos, esta um consectário lógico do fortalecimento da onda pró-Gilead. Ela não quer “pagar pra ver” o que acontecerá e se, até o momento, não conseguiu resgatar Hannah, tentará ao menos proteger Nichole das garras de um regime opressor. Nesse ponto é triste perceber que, mesmo livre, June está muito longe de ter paz e levar uma vida minimamente normal. Após o episódio final, avalio a temporada com um saldo muito positivo, não apenas pela evolução coerente da narrativa, mas também pela qualidade técnica do show. Fotografia, figurino, direção de arte, maquiagem, trilha sonora… tudo, absolutamente tudo, está afinado e coeso. Isso sem falar nas atuações, com especial destaque para Elisabeth Moss (sempre!) e Yvonne Strahovsky, que rouba para si praticamente todas as cenas. I have no doubts June and Luke will reunite yet again. And as much as I want Luke gone, because his character to me adds nothing to the overall storyline and I do think he’s hindering June’s character’s natural progression, I don’t think their ending is satisfactory to me. They need to have THE CHAT, they need to sit down and talk about their real feelings and Nick needs to be addressed. And I hope that June’s feelings for Nick are as strong as we’ve been shown for 5 seasons and that she will be fair to them and to Nick and be honest with herself and Luke, but if they’re not and June doesn’t care for Nick anymore then they need to make it clear and let go of Nick. I can’t stand another season of his character being on the bench at her beck and call. Either way Luke and June need to speak about it before anything else happens in the show, it’s just not realistic. I don’t know if we will ever see this because I can see the show steering away from the romance towards a more action packed season, and I would like to see that, but I would also really like to see June finding out about this scene, the fact that Nick risked everything to come and see her and make sure she was safe, that he took the deal without any expectations of ever ending up with her. I’d love a situation where June has to decide whether to do something risky for Nick or not and Tuello finally telling him how little he thinks of himself and how June sees him. Overall I expect action and a lot of Mayday and June finally embracing the woman she’s become and not this version of her old self ghost we’ve seen in s5. I don’t care for the June/Serena relationship so whatever they do with surely be underwhelming to me. And I can really see them going for an open ending for the show. —————— ✽ —————— 1x08 - Jezebel’s. 5x10 - Safe.

| “I think about it too.” | —————— ✽ —————— Q. Why do you think Nick chose Rose and their baby over June and Nichole when he declined Tuello’s offer? A. I don’t really think Nick chose Rose and baby over June and their daughter. If he takes the deal he needs to stay in Gilead to spy for the US government and eventually leave which means being closer to June and Nicole but if Rose is never leaving and committing treason against her country, which she loves, and her family, who she loves, then Nick can never leave her whilst she’s carrying his child. As much as he would want to be closer to Nicole and June he would rather sacrifice his own happiness than mess Rose’s life up that much. That wouldn’t make him a great person and that’s just not who he is. I don’t think he has strong feeling for this baby. I don’t think Nick intended or expected to get Rose pregnant, at least not this easily. I don’t think he wanted to have a child with her, but he has to sleep with her, he has to try and get her pregnant if not Rose would definitely report him. But it’s still his child and he does care for Rose so of course he’s not going to up and leave her to deal with the mess Nick would leave behind him if he defected. So that’s not really a choice for him unless things change or if something big happens to change his mind, like June almost dying or the baby dying (👀) Also we know that Nick doesn’t believe June wants him in his life, so even if he didn’t have so many strings holding him back in Gilead, he still wouldn’t want to force himself between June and Luke. I am certain in this scene he’s talking about June as much as he’s talking about Nicole. That’s always been his dream, the three of them, together like a real family. But he thinks June’s real family and the family she wants isn’t with him but with her husband. So he keeps that part to himself. And that’s why I think it’s so important that we see June being clear with Nick about how much she wants him out and back with their daughter. —————— ✽ —————— 5x09 - Allegiance 4x07 - Home. 5x03 - Border. 2x06 - Fresh Blood.

So many incredible scenes, moments, shots, lines and actors. I'll try to do at least some of them some justice in the next couple of days. SPOILERS AHEAD. I had ONE scene with @mckennagraceful but Jesus Christ. I remember reading it and being stunned. Screenwriter @kthunder5000 wrote it so perfectly. From Lydia's initial victim shaming to Esther's power in being able to tell the truth out loud and call Aunt Lydia's (and by extension Gilead's) hypocrisy. Esther righteousness is undeniable and Lydia recognizes it as such. It's a real turning point for her though she can't bring herself to help Esther in the moment. I remember when we first talked about the scene, McKenna telling me she felt anger and me saying: "Let it rip. Rage for all of us." And boy did she. Being tied to a bed, unable to move and raging is what it feels like. I was a few years younger than Esther when I was raped, so a scene like this hits home. I wanted to do it justice for all the survivors out there. Also, anyone who can hold their own with Ann Dowd is alright with me. Thank you @mckennagraceful. Thanks also to the heartwarming sanity and camaraderie from fellow online breasties, those with bold beautiful Instagrams, the joy of nature, the love of family, friends and community, the wonder of animal life and teachings of sentient beings, the welcoming prayerful circle of women, walking, wandering, wondering and forest bathing to follow the light; progressive gps with holistic hearts who listen and legitimately prescribe organic treatments, allied therapy-hands relieving the side effects of neuropathy and lymphoedema, art, writing, music, meditation, medicinal food, curating and creativity. Everything is a gift.
