Today was a simple bake, but made to look fancy (at least, that's what I tried to achieve!). Plaited brown bread rolls, from the book "Dough", which is my current 'how to make bread' manual. It really does make it so simple, I would highly recommend it. @jenrobsonartist likes a poppy seed roll, so I used them in half the batch, (she also took the photo of my hands, because I'm not that good at photos!) with the other half getting sesame seeds. These are inspired by the traditional Italian braided Easter breads but use chocolate eggs for decoration rather than the usual dyed fresh eggs. I also added some chocolate chips to the dough but they are strictly optional and you can leave the dough plain or add dried fruit and/or spices instead. The recipe is adapted from one found on https://veggiedesserts.com/wprm_print/9996 and I made by hand rather than in a mixer - see link for method. There's just something about Challah that completely intrigues me. Maybe it's because I didn't grow up around it, or because there are a million and one ways to prepare it.
