“Summer’s lease hath all too short a date.” ~ W. Shakespeare ☀️ This summer has been glorious and hard, beautiful and difficult. The news has been heavy, the weather has been trying for many and personal stories range from heart-warming to gut-wrenching. What I’m grateful for is the fabulous experiences my children have had. Summer camps have made up so much of my life and I’m thrilled that my children feel the same draw and enthusiasm I did and still do, towards them. 🏕 My son is wrapping up his first full summer of work at camp and I’m thrilled he’s stretched his wings, gained independence and grown. I know he’s had a fantastic camp family to work with, to watch thunderstorms and meteor showers with and has made a difference to many. 💫 My daughter was able to participate in 2 camps this summer. She was able to reconnect with some of her favourite camp peeps at day camp in July, her last summer as a camper, and has grown so much at her August Skills camp. Coming back stronger, wiser, more experienced after not just a 3 week skills camp but also a 100+ km, 8 day canoe trip. Stretch and grow. 🛶 So proud of them both. ❤️ There is so much growth that happens outside of the walls of school. I am so grateful to all those who helped make these camps happen during this uncertain year. Each summer☀️, I volunteer for a week at the camp I went to as a child. It is a highlight of my year, and an opportunity for so many things; for me to give back to the community that helped shape me, to create new friendships 👭and nurture those I have had for decades, an opportunity to laugh (a lot)🤣, to sing 🎶 and be extra ridiculous, to soak in a week in the forest 🌲and on a lake 💦, and most importantly, an opportunity for learning and growth. 💕 . My birthday 🎈has recently passed and yesterday a friend gave me a gift and these were inside. Canoe/paddle pillowcases! 🛶Sometimes camp friends really know how to pick ‘em! . 💫 These will look great with my sleeping bag in my fav sleep spot at camp next summer. Camp friends are awesome! 👍 .
