IN-SITU Finissage Saturday, 18. May 2024, 13:30 – 17:00 Location: < rotor >, Volksgartenstraße 6a, 8020 Graz Programme: 13:30 - 15:00 Workshop led by Laura Urdl from 15:00 Talk with the artist Ralo Mayer and music by the double-bass player Philipp Kienberger (@philipp.kienberger) as part of impuls@ On the last day of the exhibition “IN-SITU. Artistic Positions on Endangered Biodiversity and the Coexistence of Species”, there will once again be the opportunity to visit the exhibition, take part in a workshop, to enjoy a music performance and to engage in dialog with the curators and artists. First of all, anyone interested can dive into the topic of biodiversity with Laura Urdl from the art education team in the frame of a workshop with assemblages made from natural materials. They are imagined as artistic ecosystems, delicate and ephemeral, like the habitat of many individuals. Ralo Mayer will then provide background information on the genesis of his video installation with the title “A Series of Events on Various Timelines Concerning the Experiments of Paul Kammerer at the Institute for Experimental Biology, Vienna”. In doing so, he sheds light on an almost forgotten chapter of Austrian scientific history. The double-bass player Philipp Kienberger will perform various pieces during the afternoon including “Fury” by Rebecca Saunders (2005) and “Alisei” by Stefano Scodanibbio (1986). His contributions are part of the series impuls@. WORKSHOP Immersing the Exhibition Together Wednesday, May 8th, 19:00 Location: < rotor >, Volksgartenstraße 6a, 8020 Graz Because of the positive reaction from the participants we have decided to conduct the Text-Collage Workshop one more time! Inspired by the work “Foundations” by Teuta Gatolin (@_gatolin ), which reacts in a poetic way to texts by James Hutton and Nikola Tesla, the workshop will experiment with the printed word. Based on the technique of playing with texts from the history of science, visitors will start a journey through scientific texts. By removing, cutting out or recombining words, they create intuitive text collages. Various materials are available, but you are also welcome to bring additional text material (magazines, books,…) Previous knowledge and experience is not necessary. ► The workshop is open to the public and free of charge! ► A registration is appreciated: [email protected], 0316/688306 ► but spontaneous joining is also possible. ► The working materials will be provided at < rotor >. In the frame of the current exhibition IN-SITU Artistic Positions on Endangered Biodiversity and the Coexistence of Species Duration of the exhibition: 22.03.-18.05.2024 Opening hours: Mo–Fr 10:00–18:00, Sa 12:00–16:00 Wednesday till 22:00 Closed on Sundays and public holidays Free admission!

It started with curatorial research, followed by artist residencies and a student project. In the exhibition with contributions by artists from Bologna / Italy, and Graz / Austria, lines of connection between the works unfold, tipping points and discontinuities become perceptible. The potential is inherent in the artworks to give shape to the step into the unknown in the search for new experiences and insights that the present—every present—needs. The narrative title of the project is inspired by the theatre innovator and writer Antonin Artaud. Duration of the exhibition: 11.11-22.12.2023 & 8.1.-17.2.2024 Opening hours: Mo–Fr 10:00–18:00, Sa 12:00–16:00 Wednesday till 22:00 Closed on Sundays and public holidays Free admission!

TIME FALLS APART OR THE MEASURE OF DISORDER Exthibition at Kunsthaus Mürz curated by Margarethe Makovec & Anton Lederer Location: Kunsthaus Mürz (@kunsthaus_muerz), Wiener Street 35, 8680 Mürzzuschlag Participating artists: Anca Benera & Arnold Estefan (@beneraestefan), Nayari Castillo (@nayaricm), Teresa Cos (@_teresacos), Olia Fedorova (@olia_off), Alen Floričić, Meta Grgurevič (@meta.grgurevic), Anaïs Horn (@anais_horn), Ryts Monet (@rytsmonet), Martin Osterider ( #martinosterider), Luiza Margan (@luizzamargan), Maria Legat ( #marialegat), Lisl Ponger (@lislponger), Wendelin Pressl (@wendelin.pressl), Christina Helena Romirer (@christina.helena.romirer), Small but dangers, Inge Vavra ( #ingevavra), Hannes Zebedin ( #hanneszebedin) Curators: Margarethe Makovec & Anton Lederer The conception for this group exhibition was a work by the London-based artist Teresa Cos. In it, she draws a far-out space-time structure on the traces of Ludwig Boltzmann’s last (train) journey, which he undertook in 1906 from Vienna to Duino near Trieste. Boltzmann dealt, among other things, with entropy, which is a measure of the change in a form of energy. In layman's terms, the change always occurs in such a way that things are more inclined to fall apart than to stay together. The works of the invited artists create an associative network with manifold references and relations. Private and collective memories across countries, borders, oceans, and timelines offer narratives from a past and present Europe. The perception of time is up for debate, and its possible falling apart along the courses of time and discontinuities of experienced history. Along the courses of time and discontinuities of experienced history. Duration of the exhibition: 03.12.2023 - 18.02.2024 Opening hours: THU - SAT: 10:00 – 18:00, SUN: 10:00 - 16:00 Credits: Ivan Bandic
