An interesting little number on the tasting table tonight. Another Marble brew IPA and this time with added Earl Grey!! FRUITY, citrus and a little bitter tannin and…just a hint of “a nice cup of tea”!! @dramsontherocks described it today as a combination that shouldn’t work…but it just does!! I couldn’t agree more!! It was a bit frisky on the pour (I ignored the on-can advise to pour slowly in case of sediment) but calmed right down to a full-flavoured, tasty drop…and that finish - it’s a cup of Rosie if ever I tasted one!! “I made the preparatory sketches for this drawing in mid-July when the bank was bubbling over with meadowsweet and cow-parsley. The wind was up, so everything was alive with movement – I was keen to show that in the picture. I also wanted to depict the path sweeping up towards a newer house (where we now stay) and on towards Louisburgh and civilisation. In the field are a mare, her exquisite foal and a donkey. Paddy Morrison’s farm is just in view. When I did the sketches, I was delighted to see a flock of lapwings, so they made it into the drawing. The mountain is Mweelrea, a constant presence but often shrouded in low cloud. Well I hate having to do this but... Yes, great that a local neighbourhood pub has some craft beer 👍 But... Having stock is only 1 part of it... When I was ordering at the bar, I spied some @heaneybrewery so asked for the double pale ale. The bartender felt it was necessary to warn me apparently - told me my chosen beer was "like Guinness" I laughed, and said No, it's a pale ale, nothing like Guinness Barman looked at me like I was a silly child and said "No, it still tastes like Guinness" I then had to demand the beer I had already requested, when he then tried to sway me to chose a "summer fruit ipa" instead, to avoid the "Guinness like" pale ale I had chosen Completely exasperated at this point, I had to be very direct & just demand my chosen beverage yet again, for him to one more time ask, "are you sure??" 😳😲Seriously - pubs need to do better! Stocking craft beer is a step forward, but make sure your team know what they're doing! @hearth I can hook you up with some decent staff training/awareness! This beer is nothing like a Guinness! And even if it was, I ordered it, so just serve me what I've ordered! In early conversations about Our Brewery as we discussed beer styles, flavours, labels and design, one of our team mentioned how there can often be pressure to pick beer when you’re stood in front of a big selection of cans or bottles. So many colourful labels, obscure names, modern and traditional styles. As we progressed we decided that initially we didn’t want our core beers to be daunting for you the customer or for there to be pressure to pick because we hadn’t clearly told you what the beer was on the label, so we focussed on simplicity and quality, using the absolute finest ingredients and, with a vision to introduce more people to craft beer… simply… but, the name “Pressure to Pick” ironically, stuck in our heads… 😁 #ourbrewery #craftbeerni #northernireland #supportlocal

I expected a more flat white style so when I poured this I was surprised! An amber coloured beer that comes with surprisingly subtle coffee and chocolate tones. It’s a bit mad because the taste doesn’t match what I’m seeing. I suppose this is the nice thing about beer; it can take any form and still surprise you. 5/10. I will say this has a much more complex taste than ginger beers I’ve had before. I’m definitely getting Fresh lime and cinnamon with a small ginger finish. I will say it’s not as heavily spiced as crabbies, which is what I would probably prefer but this is good nonetheless. Its a much lighter option than other alcoholic ginger beers. An Astounding Crate Barleywine from @mournemountainsbrewery Had this one a few weeks back on a cold, wet and windy night. A night like that calls for something warming, and holy feck did this one deliver. The first thing is a huge whiskey note on the snout from the Teeling casks. The taste is complex and really changes as it warms in the glass. I get hints of toffee and dried dark fruit. Any bitterness is nicely rounded, it's seriously smooth. One for sippin' for sure. Wee Honey, a honeycomb Imperial stout from @mournemountainsbrewery Lads...this is like nothing I have ever tasted! It is fecking delicious!! No mistaking that bang of honeycomb on the snout!
