The transformation of the Shtarkovo Jumali between stillness and motion is truly otherworldly. It is difficult to find the words for how dynamic their suits are. I’ve never seen something so fluid as their dance, and been able to capture such diverse shapes and silhouettes with each click of the shutter. Scroll to see the movement! These protectors of the community wear suits made from the furs of the ancient breed of Bulgarian Kalofer goat. It often takes 6 to 7 goats to create one suit. The hair must be combed strand by strand until it is silky enough to wear. My absolute favourite photos from Thailand! 🤩 In Thailand the traditional clothing for women is called “chut thai”🥻I wore a “chakkri”, which is formal clothing, made of two pieces - a skirt (sinh) and a top that wraps around your upper body (sabai). A fun fact is that there was no traditional dress for events before the 1960s, when their Queen decided to change the country’s fashion scene forever by inventing the “chut thai”. We almost missed getting to know this part of Thai culture! Walking around in traditional clothes was supposed to be our first activity in Thailand, but due to delayed flights we only got to do it on the very last day. I am so glad we did it, as it brought me closer to the country’s values and people. Something I couldn’t understand though, was that no Europeans were wearing the clothes, only Asian people did and I think this is a big missed opportunity for the tourists. We payed only €5 for the clothes and jewellery for 2 hours and another €2 for our hair to be made. 💬 Would you try on traditional Thai clothing?🥻

If I were to put it through the emotions of my heart, I'd say, infinity seems too short a time when in Kerala. Trust me on this one—if ever you want to REALLY depress yourself, start writing a history of Germany in the first half of the 20th century. From the Golden Age of Security overnight to The Great War—and 1000 dead a day every day for 4 years. Then from hyperinflation and Weimar Berlin to Freud’s Civilization and Its Discontents and too too rapidly onto 1933. Here’s Stefan Zweig on Germany in the 1920s: “Every extravagant idea that was not subject to regulation reaped a golden harvest: theosophy, occultism, spiritualism, somnambulism, anthroposophy, palm-reading, graphology, yoga and Paracelsism. Anything that gave hope of newer and greater thrills, anything in the way of narcotics, morphine, cocaine, heroin found a tremendous market; unconditionally proscribed, however, was any representation of normality and moderation. And behind the scenes, smiling, there waited, watch in hand, those same people who had driven the German nation into the chaos: “The worse it is for the country, the better for us.”” As winter approaches here in the Kingdom of Bore I gotta pick a brighter subject. Saviez-vous que le café a failli être interdit ? ☕ Au XVIIe siècle, l'arrivée du café en Europe a provoqué la controverse. Son goût amer et ses effets stimulants ont effrayé certaines autorités, qui y voyaient une menace pour la santé et l'ordre public. D'ailleurs, seuls les "infidèles" en buvaient (et eux-mêmes s'en méfiaient car la boisson n'est pas citée dans le coran). Le pape Clément VIII lui-même a hésité avant de se prononcer. Mais après avoir goûté le breuvage, il l'a finalement approuvé, déclarant : "Cette boisson est si délicieuse qu'il serait dommage que seuls les infidèles en profitent."
