🛍️ Spendy Saturdays 🦴 Finally the sun came out in Newcastle today and we spent the day in my all time favourite place! The beach at Tynemouth 📌 All visits to Tynemouth start at @doghoose_tynemouth, where I was lucky enough to sample some new buffalo pâté 😍 and pick up some lovely treatos - they even gave me this fabulous iced biscuit to take home with me! The Easter holidays were a bit of a wash out, weren't they? I think we managed to do all the wet day activities you could think of.... this was the day we braved the beach and lasted approx 30mins (hoping IG doesn't ban me for posting a photo that includes nudity) 👀 all Lily's idea... Our highlights were making friends with a pet lamb, getting through Charlie's homework, a sleepover with friends, eating chocolate (of course), and the kids enjoyed ice cream with grandparents. The house, built of dressed sandstone blocks, is exactly 100 feet (30 metres) square and like a Greek temple sits on a crepidoma, or stepped plinth. The two massive Doric columns supporting the inset portico are copied from an ancient temple in Athens – the Theseion. The Plotters Forest 🌳 ᴘʀ ɪɴᴠɪᴛᴇ | The Plotters Forest set in the Christmas tree plantation in Raby Castle currently has its Easter trail on so we register the site! The large wooden treetop playground consists of walkways, bridges and stepping stones between several castle towers/turrets which contain slides, climbing walls, tunnels and other fun things along the way! We visited with all the children ranging from 5 years to 15 who all had fun however I would say in my opinion the main play area was more suited to children around 6+ unless an adult or older child is okay (and able) to follow them around to help navigate. There is a smaller castle play frame aimed at under 4s for younger siblings also. There is a cafe within the plotters forest serving lovely cakes, ice creams drinks and sandwiches, the bakewell slice was yummy! As tickets are sold in slots to keep the park safe and fun I would advise booking ahead to ensure you can visit at a time that suits you best. All plotters forest tickets include entry to the deer park for free which so currently has an Easter trail on. 🎟️ Adults- £9 Child- £8.50 Family- £30 Under 4’s- FREE 📍Raby Castle Staindrop, Darlington, DL2 3AH

This is probably my favourite day out in the whole of the UK. A huge living museum with something interesting round every corner, Beamish never disappoints. Of course there's the classics like the mine and the pit village, but on this trip we also headed to the new 1950s town. It's still in progress but it was fun to see the old houses, hairdresser and community hall. We even stopped off at the diner for lunch, and had to resist the temptation to get a delicious looking ice cream. Oh and is it even a trip to Beamish if you don't stop off at the sweet shop for some boiled sweets and cinder toffee? Diggerland 🚜 ᴘʀ ɪɴᴠɪᴛᴇ | Buckets of fun for everyone! Ever thought you’d be able to drive a digger? Me either but I did and so can you @diggerland.uk !! The site was much smaller than expected however this did help make it a much more relaxed experience for us as i was happy to have the kids on different rides at once since it was so easy to see them both at the same time. Another huge plus point for us throughout the day was there was virtually no queues at all for anything- we were able to choose something to go on and immediately be able to ride. With it being a small site we were able to go on everything available that we wanted to within the day and the kids were able to go on their favourites multiple times with ease. All rides have height restrictions, some the kids will be able to ride alone, others with an adult and a couple are restricted to older kids/adults. Every ride has their own sign to show restrictions or you can check this ahead of visiting on the website. I would say if your child is under 100cm they won’t be able to ride much at all but they do get in for free because of this! The rides themselves are lots of fun ranging from fast little go karts to driving full size JCBs. There are also rides such as the spindizzy (the name gives you a hint!) dig-a-round and sky shuttle which are more conventional rides with a fantastic digger twist! There is a cafe on site with an indoor play area. The menu is child friendly and priced as you’d expect for places like this. Be aware there are some coin operated rides at the park too which as you know I’m not a fan of in places like this. Unfortunately they are hard to avoid. We did have a really good time here and it’s definitely not just for kids, as like I mentioned before, there are some rides for adults/older children only! 🏀 Active Totz Have you ever checked out what your local family hub has on offer for the little ones? We quite often go to the seasonal events at ours at Christmas and Halloween but we’re guilty of forgetting about the fab activities they run every week! Granny takes H to his swimming lesson with @swim.excellence on a Friday morning so O and I try to do something fun while he’s away. This morning we headed to Active Totz at the Elgin Centre, Gateshead Family Hub with one of O’s little friends. It’s only £1 per child and they open with a few fun songs encouraging the littles to move their bodies by walking, running, jumping and stretching, followed by free play with the sports equipment including bats and balls, beanbags, wobble boards and stepping stones. Then the community cafe provides a snack for the little ones and teas and coffees for the grown ups with the option to leave a donation if you can, while the leaders set up the hall with bikes and trikes for the last half an hour. It’s great fun and an opportunity for a catch up while the littles run wild! 🐶 Dogs & Dough Pizza Pawty 🍕 At the weekend I went to @twentytwentyncl’s monthly dog social - Dogs and Dough! It was supaw fun! I gots to play with loads of doggo’s, the entire social is in an enclosed section of the bar downstairs so I gots to be off my lead and cause chaos when the pizza came 😈 There were pup cups, bowls of treatos and loads of other pups for me to chase and play with! Mummy and Daddy also got 241 pizza and cocktails were 2 for £12! This is a must see for any child, showcasing the great women who paved the way for where we are today… inspiring” ᴀᴅ| @fantasticallygw is a stage adaptation inspired by the book of the same name authored by Kate Pankhurst, a descendant of the Suffragettes. The story revolves around a young girl named Jade, played by the fantastic @georgiag_a, who finds herself alone in a museum and stumbles upon the ‘Hall of Greatness’. Here, she encounters an array of inspiring women from history, including well-known figures like Frida Kahlo and Marie Curie, as well as lesser-known but equally captivating personalities. The cast are absolutely fantastic, with the 4 main women playing different characters throughout. I especially loved “Emmeline Pankhurst’s” rap, played by @jcaldwell6889 who was absolutely brilliant in all her roles. Produced by the creators of the hit musical “Six”, It’s fun, colourful, informative and heart-warming - which is exactly what you want from a feel good show. While the songs may not be the most memorable, they are aurally pleasing with some amazing solos from the cast. The storyline, though simple, is well-crafted and culminates in a fantastic fitting conclusion. *** Rude Science *** ᴀᴅ| The naughtiest, funniest, most revolting science show in the world. This morning, TV Gastronaut, Stefan Gates, brung his highly explosive show Rude Science to the @tyneoperahouse The show is based on his book so you can expect “enormous bottoms, fart machines, snot cocktails, vast whoopee cushions, urine-powered fireworks and ear-wax mannequins” as Stefan with his “Safety Officer” Gareth transform complex science into educational hilarity. We really enjoyed this one, and so did the crowd. The young Geordie audience never let up and did the city proud. I think even Stefan was shocked at the volume of the audience participation in parts of the show, it made for an amazing atmosphere and really added to the show. After the show you can also expect stickers, book signings and a meet-and-greet with Stefan too. (We didn’t wait around for this as the queue was massive) In summary this is a must see for young children they’ll absolutely love the “Gross” or not so gross as we learn Science involved. 🎭 Half Term Inspiration - Seaton Delaval Hall A couple of weeks ago we grabbed our @northeastnt passes and headed up to @seatondelavalhallnt for a little explore. We started in the play area where the boys had fun on the little rope challenges and running around in the forest before we headed into the hall. The little wild things loved exploring in and out of the downstairs rooms and guessing what each room would have been used for many years ago. Then they were excited to follow the red carpet upstairs to the more furnished section of the hall and learn little snippets about the people that lived there. It’s not as furnished as some of the other National Trust sites we’ve visited but the boys loved the theatre show theme and especially the upside down room and the room with chickens under the bed! We had a bit more of an explore of the grounds when we came out of the hall, we can’t wait to spend more time here in the warmer months! Then we headed a few minutes down the road to Blyth beach for some yummy fish and chips and ice cream at @coastlineciccarelli a splash in the puddles on the beach and another play area!
