CAT: Tot i que s’han trobat restes fòssils de marmotes al Pirineu de fa més de 10.000 anys, fins al 1948 no van tornar-hi. Va ser aquest any quan un caçador francès, recolzat per l’administració, les va introduir al vessant francès del Pirineu amb l’objectiu final de reduir la pressió de l’àguila daurada sobre els isards, i també d’augmentar la biodiversitat de la zona. De seguida, però, les marmotes van passar cap a el vessant sud, molt més assolellada i amb temperatures més agradables. Les primeres cites es donen a la vall d’Otal, el 1964. D’aleshores ençà, en poc més de 50 anys la població de marmotes ha crescut extraordinàriament, sobretot per la manca de depredadors naturals en quantitats prou importants per a controlar-ne la població, i als pocs competidors amb qui s’ha trobat. CAST: Aunque se han encontrado restos fósiles de marmotas en el Pirineo de hace más de 10.000 años, hasta 1948 no volvieron. Fue este año cuando un cazador francés, apoyado por la administración, las introdujo en la vertiente francesa del Pirineo con el objetivo final de reducir la presión del águila dorada sobre los rebecos, y también de aumentar la biodiversidad de la zona. Sin embargo, enseguida las marmotas pasaron hacia la vertiente sur, mucho más soleada y con temperaturas más agradables. Las primeras citas se dan en el valle de Otal, en 1964. Indian one horned Rhino, what an amazing and peculiar armoured beast. It was a privilege to see so many in Kaziranga and Manas and see rhino interacting in big numbers with birds, primates, elephants, boar and deer.
