A longtime Raleigh resident, I often feel like I know everything about the city. However, last weekend I discovered something I never knew about - the Dorothea Dix Hospital Cemetery. Amongst the playgrounds and open fields that are now parks is the final resting site for hundreds of impoverished patients whose families had no interest in or couldn’t afford to claim their bodies.
