✨ Pot pourri aux senteurs de l'hiver ✨ L'hiver ça sent quoi pour vous ? Pour moi c'est la cannelle ☺️ Ici les filles ont réalisé chacune leur pot pourri avec des senteurs qu'elles ont d'abord appris à identifier, à l'aveugle ou non. Sur un fond de cardamome en poudre elles ont déposé leur pomme d'ambre et ont ajouté des bâtons de cannelle, des oranges séchées, de l'anis étoilé et des baies roses. Pour les pommes d'ambre, j'ai dessiné sur l'orange ce qu'elles me demandaient avec le zesteur et elles ont piqué les clous de girofle. Une activité qui renforce la prise tripode et la précision et qui nous plaît beaucoup chaque année. Place orange slices (in this picture all I had were tangerines), lemon slices, rosemary, cinnamon sticks, fresh bay leaf(dried works too), and whole cloves in a pot. Fill pot with water. Place on stovetop. Bring to a boil then turn down the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. A wonderful scent will drift throughout your house. Make some before any gathering to welcome your guests. Start by removing the petals from your flower head and spreading them across cardboard or an old newspaper. 2. Dry them in the sun for two to three days. You can also fasten this process by putting the petals in the oven on parchment paper. 3. Once the petals have started to crisp around the edges, place them in a sealable jar. 4. DIY Potpourri Recipe 🍊🌲 One of my favorite things about the holidays when I was a child was walking into the kitchen and smelling the potpourri simmering on the stove. Warm fragrant wafts of cinnamon, cloves and grapefruit floated through the air, and the smell traveled to my nose and enticed me of the festivites to come. Slowly but surely, as was typical of the 80’s, the stovetop potpourri became a bowl on the table of jumbled flowers, and pods…with fragrant oils on top. The natural had left the building, and been replaced with synthetic. Potpourri was created in the 12th century for the purpose of freshening rooms in castles for the people of that time. Spices, herbs and fruits were placed in huge cooking pots after the meal tasks of the day had been completed. Each year, I like to bring back the potpourri that I had knew as a child, but with the modern convenience of being able to place it in a bowl or on the table, and not boil it over the stove.
