“Wow- is your older one training your younger one?” is something I hear all the time when Mala is with the fosters. Whether they get too far ahead, she doesn’t like the way they are playing with another dog, she thinks they need to move on from a human who seems scared, or she just wants them to “toughen up” a bit, Mala will train the fosters better than I am ever able to I honestly couldn’t foster without her and she makes me so proud every foster we get ❤️

Check out our reel on to see the benefits of adopting older pups. 🎉Our biggest celebration of the week is that Finn was adopted! 🎉 This week, we welcomed 12 dogs into care! With adoptions slowing and given we are struggling to find new fosters, we are unable to bring in huge numbers of pups. We also celebrated 18 pooches finding their forever homes! We currently still have 45 dogs in care searching for forever families! We currently have a wide variety of pups available for adoption so please reach out if you need any recommendations on pups! 🥰 We had 4 great adoption events at @tisol.southsurrey, @fiveroadsbrewingco and 2 slots at the @gvfoodtruckfest (hosted by @barks.nbrews ) . Thank you to everyone who came out and supported ! 🥰 We still have some dogs who have been searching for their forever homes for some time. He came to us with a lot of anxiety but has become a confident and joyful little guy who loves to cuddle. Adopter needed ❤️ This is sweet Gracie. She is a 10 month old mastiff mix (75lbs). She has been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, and is up to date with all her vaccinations. Unfortunately, Gracie was adopted in February and has since been returned 😔. This sweet girl has been passed around so much in her short life, and deserves a home that will keep her forever. Gracie is a parvo survivor, and received the life saving treatment she needed back in 2023. She is fully healed and not contagious to other animals. This is what her previous foster had to say about her: Gracie is sweet, loyal, strong, and sensitive. We have crate trained her and she is excellent at hopping inside with a treat. She will sleep through the night in her crate and also does great for naps in her crate during the day. We’ve also trained her on a halter leash which she has taken to so well and is very helpful for walks. Given her age, understandably her puppy qualities still come through. She forgets how big she is sometimes, but she takes correction well. She appreciates being given things to chew on (so she’ll avoid your shoes), and loves bones, slow feeders, and Kong-type toys filled with treats, plain yogurt and peanut butter. She’s a fan of wrestling with our 3 year old Labernese, and has tons of fun at the dog beach with other dogs. She has done well with kids aged 9-13 when everyone respects her size and strength. She is also great with kittens and cats. We love Gracie! She will make a great addition to a household looking for sweet, large breed pup. Here’s what her foster has to say about her: Looking for a sweet soul who is forever looking for belly scratches, walks and naps in the sunshine? Well Pixie is your girl! She is a quiet girl who will need someone to help break her out of her shell! She’s come a long way since her arrival, but she is still unsure of unfamiliar situations and in particular adults who, in her opinion, are too excited to meet her. She adores kids, is wonderful with my 10 and 12 year olds, and is more comfortable around kids in general. She is very curious of our 17 year old formerly feral cat, but leaves him alone once they’ve sniffed each other and she realizes that he does not love her. She wants nothing more than to make friends with our 13 year old dog and she’s slowly wearing her down, and she happily chases our 8 year old dog around the yard, but is respectful when either dog doesn’t want to be bothered. She is amazing on leash for her age. She happily goes into her crate as it is her safe space. She will go 5(ish) hours before needing a bathroom break overnight. She loves her chew toys. She happily uses pee pads in the house but we have been moving to outdoor bathroom breaks only now that the weather is so nice. Adopter needed 💕 Meet Priscilla! Priscilla is a 1.5 year old Rottweiler mix who weighs around 65lbs. She’s up to date on her vaccines and has been dewormed and deflead. Priscilla and her pups were rescued back in September - unfortunately she tested positive for heart worm post rescue. She has undergone the treatment for heart worm and has fully recovered. Heart worm treatment can be hard on a dogs body so vets recommended she wait to be spayed. She can be spayed in one months time, her spay will be covered by her adoption fee when done at one of our partner vets in the lower mainland. Here’s what her foster has to say about her: Priscilla is such a lovely dog! Prisicilla loves spending time on the couch and bed with her foster family. She loves to cuddle more than anything, and is just such a gentle, easygoing, and sweet dog. She’s still learning to be more confident and still gets startled by sudden noises, but she has taken huge strides in being comfortable with walking in unfamiliar places. Men tend to be scary for her, but she managed to warm up to her foster dad quite easily and quickly. She is great at letting it be known when she needs comfort and physical touch. She has the cutest zoomies and hops whenever she gets excited, and will show you the biggest smile when you come home. Prisicilla gets along well with other dogs. Her foster family hasn’t used a crate for her, but she has no problem with being on her own, and has not demonstrated any destructive behaviours when left alone. She is fully potty trained. She generally goes in her crate without issue, but can sometimes have a dramatic moment before she settles, particularly if she doesn’t feel the fun should be over yet. She sleeps about 5(ish) hours overnight in her crate before needing a break. She loves going on family walks and exploring everything and everywhere. She happily goes to the bathroom on pee pads but we have been moving to outside bathroom breaks only since the weather is so nice. She tries her best not to have accidents in the house, and I don’t think it will take her long to be properly potty trained. Peanut cannot wait to start her adventures with her forever family!
