8 years ago I was looking on rescue websites for a dog. I found @the_life_and_times_of_tobias on the PAWS website, when I saw his photo and read his bio, I turned to @ldegeorge16 and said, “this is Tobias, I need him”. We were only dating 8 months and Lou was skeptical. Here was this little brown dog with only 3 legs and we didn’t know what happened to him. About a week later, we were on our way to meet Tobias in CT. When we arrived, the shelter was loud with barking dogs. I walked past where Tobias was and he was just laying there quietly with a little stuffed cow. He looked so tiny. When the rescue worker brought Tobias out for us to meet him, (he was white and grey) he bounced right over to us and allowed me to pet him. Something she said most people couldn’t do. We learned that he was abused and neglected and lost his leg due to matting. When I’m having a rough day, I just look at his wagging tail and realize things can be worse. If he can be happy everyday, so can I. Thank you Tobias for making my life better and brighter. Happy Gotcha Day today & Happy Birthday Month, ladies! We took these sisters in during an all-day rainstorm from her feral Mama Kitty one year ago today! Their names are Shea & Syd. Shea has more white and white front legs. She was the one who busted out from between the fence in our yard & D found her & took her inside. Then he found Syd, who has a pinker nose & grey tabby fur on her front legs, still in between the fences, so he took her inside, too. They were a few weeks old, with our vet figuring they were born at the start of April. So not only are Shea & Syd with us for a year, they also just turned 1yo this month! They're so sweet & fun! They're just what we needed - Shadow Girl, our pup may disagree, though, lol! But they all get along! These sweeties are healthy, KW/TG & unlike our previous kitties, they don't have cerebellar hypoplasia. They're like our Sparky cat that D rescued the same way, way back in 97, who was my dad's cutie little cat! And they're the first girl kitties we've since our first CH kitty, Spaz, was still with us! And, of course, they continue the tradition of S names, this time with names that give a nod to the Mets! So please enjoy the photos & video of Shea & Syd! In attempts to bring smiles to as many faces as possible, I’m joining both of my accounts in celebration of Sam & Lucy’s “Gotcha” Day tomorrow. But it’s not the kind you might think… First, I used to be able to keep my “serenity tree” up all year round (2nd pic). But when they moved into our home, they also immediately moved into the tree - which had to be taken down for safety reasons. Second, we’d been told we had two little girls…until three weeks later, I noticed that Lucy had a huge set of balls! After confirmation from the vet that Lucy was indeed a boy, we swapped their names so Lucy became Sam! 2 Years ago today Chase came to live with me and I am so grateful to have found this beautiful boy and have him in my life. Not sure where the last two years have gone, it’s gone by so quickly! Today we went out, had some fun and a fantastic training session and what a beautiful day for it ☀️ We started off on the common where he got to have a run about and some sniffs before we bought the ball out and had some fun, we did a few retrieves, some stop whistle, long distance down stays and played some tug together. Then onto the precinct working on loose lead walking next to my wheelchair with stops and turns, walking close to other dogs to help with the occasional whining issue which he did brilliantly with today, some distance down stays, sit to whistle and back to heel, dropped lead heel and asking him to pick the lead up and of course some settle at the coffee shop where I treated him to a well deserved pup cup to celebrate his gotcha day and for doing so well while we were out. While we were trying to enjoy some chill time together there was some lunatic screaming at his (very overweight) dog who was constantly barking its brains out, who then sat outside one of the coffee shops and decided it would be a good idea to let it off lead to run all around the precinct. If that wasn’t bad enough he then got out a tennis racket and started to hit the ball for the dog to run off and get 🙄 it was absolute chaos, he had absolutely no control over this dog and some poor lady ended up with the dog crashing into her. Honestly the mentality of some people is beyond me!
