Well sometimes a car is ahead of it’s time. This is regarded as the grandfather of the GT40 etc. Ecurie Ecosse started with a Coventry Climax engine in this beautifully designed Sports Car and then realised that it needed more power and shoved a Ford 4.7l V8. Not remembered by Sur Jackie Stewart for its great handling and tge smell of petrol.This car was found in a dilapidated state by the Museum and restored then raced by us many years ago . This is a limited edition of just 250 numbered examples! Throughout 120 pages the tome details Wharton’s career as both an unjustly forgotten Formula 1 driver and a hill climb ace. It is a very personal recollection of friendship between Ken Wharton and the author Neville Hay. It’s in design and production it pays homage to photo book classics from the first half of the Twentieth Century, primarily with its unique wrapper, colour printing methods and bindings! In 1957 the Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D Type #XKD606 driven by Ron Flockhart and Ivor Bueb took top honors at Le Mans. The poster highlighted the Jaguar's successes with overall Le Mans victories in 1951, 1953, 1955, 1956, and 1957 with Jaguar C Types and D types. The poster is in very good condition with only a minor wrinkle near the word Le Mans at the top and a small closed tear on the bottom margin. Malgré son ancienneté par rapport à J. W. A. de John Wyer, son palmarès et sa teinte bleue distinctive ont marqué les amateurs de sport automobile. L'histoire débute avec la fondation de l'écurie en 1952 par David Murray, un pilote et homme d'affaires originaire d'Édimbourg. Lorsqu'il créé l'Ecurie Ecosse, David Murray a déjà mis fin à sa carrière de pilote, qui comprend des participations aux 24 Heures du Mans et à plusieurs Grand Prix de Formule 1. Homme d'affaires accompli, il crée Merchiston Motors, un garage automobile spécialisé. Avec ses clients Ian Stewart et Bill Dobson, tous deux pilotes, et le chef mécanicien Wilkie Wilkinson ils décident de créer une écurie privée de sport automobile. Ce sont les triomphes aux 24 Heures du Mans en 1956 et 1957, qui propulseront l'équipe au statut de légende. Le succès inattendu de l'écurie et l'enthousiasme des membres du club de supporters, l'Association Ecurie Ecosse, ont conduit à la création d'un transporteur unique en 1959, conçu par Selby Howgate. Le transporteur, avec son pont inférieur fermé comprenant des quartiers de repos, un mini-atelier et de l'espace pour une voiture, met en valeur la passion de Howgate pour le design. Iconic Le Mans Cars: Jaguar D-Type - Over the course of its career, the D-Type sported variety of inline six engines ranging from 3.0L to 3.8L with the latter capable of producing over 300hp - In the early 50's, Jaguar, despite winning Le Mans twice with the C-Type, was facing insurmountable pressure from Mercedes and Ferrari thus resulting in the lighter, faster D-Type which went on to win Le Mans three consecutive times from 1955 to 1957 - The 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans was marred by tragedy after a Mercedes-Benz 300SLR flew off the track and into the stands, killing more than 80 people, thus forcing the two remaining Mercedes cars to withdraw from the race and giving the Jaguar the victory but in 1956, after the track was redesigned, Jaguar fielded three D-Type's but only one would finish the race in sixth place as it would be Ecurie Ecosse team's D-Type that would take the checkered flag #autospec #jaguar #dtype #jaguardtype #jaguarheritage #ecurieecosse #lemans #lemans24 #24hourlemans #24hlemans #lemans24h #lemans24hours
