Long before we had gratitude journals- I love mine and it has helped me through tricky times- JB Priestley - yes him of the most well-meaning but turgid play in the history of GCSE English, understood the significance of finding delight from simple things. Over 70 years ago he published a book on the delightful little things in life. In Delight, this gorgeous little hardback edition, illustrated beautifully by Tabitha Wykeham, he runs the gamut of simple pleasures from fountains, to the joy of just not going to whatever thing it is, to the dream of socialism. What an absolute sweetie. I photographed it next to some of my everyday pleasures: a little cup of proper tea, growing flowers and beautiful pottery. Also I never tire of seeing that little mouse asleep in his matchbox.
