Okay, the “Boston Fire” series by @shannonstacey just may be my favorite firefighter romance series of all time. “Fully Ignited” is just as good as the previous two I’ve finished from it and I’m only a few chapters in. 📚Review: The Punk Rock Queen of the Jews: A Memoir by Rossi ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 QOTD: What’s the last memoir you’ve read? This was an interesting memoir from start to finish. Chef Rossi, who is known for being a food writer and podcaster, tells her wild, queer coming of age story of how she was brought up to be a good kosher Jewish girl until she rebelled at 16. Rossi’s parents kidnap her and dump her with a Chasidic rabbi known to be a “cult buster” who reformed wayward Jewish girls in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. From there she deals with being in a very controlling environment for awhile. This is her second book. It is quirky, has a lot of heart and delves into some horrible times she had been through growing up through the 1980’s in New Jersey and Brooklyn. There were times where the story seemed a bit all over the place but I did think it was a pretty authentic memoir which was nice to read. Funny Story by Emily Henry 🍷🌊📚☕️🪻 As a person who is always labeled by friends or strangers as “oh so nice,” this book hit me right in the chest. It took all my thoughts and how I proceed through life and laid it all out there. So by-the-book, punctual, with high expectations, Emily Henry managed to feverishly describe how some of us live our lives. And the downside to some of that plain ol’ strict order. Funny Story had a bit of everything that makes an enjoyable story; banter that leaves you giggling forever, characters that feel like a warm hug and countless lessons that are well needed at any point in your life. Sometimes people let you down so hard that you always adjust to their circumstances, you make yourself feel small in hopes of being what they need. But we all know that isn’t a way to live life, and something Miles and Daphne had to confront. The open dialogue between these two lovebirds was refreshing. Although the start to their relationship was more than awkward/unconventional, god did it work for them!! Watching from the sidelines as these two characters learn to put themselves first, realize their worth and work towards mending their childhood/family trauma had me in tears!! Don’t let my emotional review confuse you because this book was a classic romcom to a T. I want to bottle up Miles and put him on my shelf for safekeeping because he deserves only the best in this world. just finished! 📖 The Fury by Alex Michaelides ⭐️⭐️✨ I LOVED the silent patient by this author, but this one was sort of a snooze fest for me. it was trying to be funny and quirky while also a thriller? idk the tone just didn’t match up for me. it’s a super quick read though so not terrible. the twists were entertaining and I loved the Greek island setting, but other than that it felt sort of blah for me. Rune Sarasin has a checkered past. Now she is finding out that life as a jewel there can be hard as well. Her boyfriend, Kit, is being held hostage while his little sister Madee is missing. Oh yeah, and Rune stole and then lost a criminal mastermind’s treasured rubies. Can she possibly get everything straightened out and save Kit, Maddee, and her own life too? I got this novel as an arc audiobook from NetGalley, and I loved the audiobook format. The narrator, Cindy Kay, was great with a fantastic sense of timing, perfect pace, and of course, unique voices conveying personalities for all of the speaking characters. Not an easy feat! I will definitely be looking for more of her work in the future. The plot was super engaging. Audiobooks usually take me at least 3 days, sometimes many more depending on the length and amount of time I can devote to listening. I listened to this one in about 24 hours. I could not turn it off! It was just the right amount of danger and violence. The main character had such a backstory that it could support its own book! The pace was quick, the characters drew me in, the story was engaging - what more could I ask for? A sequel? She Came for Blood was soooooooo good. I only hated two scenes, because they grossed me TF out. If you read it, definitely guess. 😂 In this one, Anna - who in the previous two books was sort of just the minion to her brother Dmitri terrorizing her cousins to keep involved with the Order. Anna is set on a revenge murder mission to kill the queen of the vampires who killed her terrible ex, Billy. I don't want to bring any spoilers in but this is such a good rounded story, it comes full circle in such a good way. It was such a good read and storyline, it almost made me hate Dmitri less. I really liked Quinn as well, she was a sweet werewolf. Opis i pierwsze strony sugerowały mi uroczą książkę o ludziach mierzących się problemami, mimo których realizują swoje pasje i odnajdują w sobie wsparcie. Niestety się zawiodłam. Jeśli chodzi o rzeczy, które mi się podobały, to na pewno jest to Weston i sposób w jaki zachęcał Tessę do walki i w pewnym sensie powrotu do swojego dawnego życia. To, jak pokazywał jej nowe możliwości. Ogólnie jego podejście do niej kilkukrotnie wywołało na mojej twarzy uśmiech. To, że czytało się dość szybko i przyjemnie również uznaję za plus. Natomiast jeśli chodzi o minusy, było ich niestety więcej. [Ta część zawiera małe spoilery] Zacznę może od samego stylu. Miałam wrażenie, że sposób, w jaki książka została napisana, sprawiał, że nie mogłam wczuć się w emocje i przeżycia bohaterów. Przez większość czasu byli dla mnie obojętni, a ich uczucia wręcz przerysowane. Do tego dialogi, napisane w sposób po prostu sztywny i nierealny. Najbardziej zauważalne było to przy wypowiedziach młodszych bohaterów. Przykro mi, ale dzieci w taki sposób nie mówią. Teoretycznie te dwie rzeczy nie są nie wiadomo jaką wadą, zdarzało się, że książka mimo nich, wciąż mi się mniej czy bardziej podobała. W tym przypadku też tak było, ale tylko na początku, bo mniej więcej w momencie, gdy zaczęliśmy poznawać przeszłość Westona, ja stawałam się coraz bardziej zdenerwowana i zniesmaczona. Pierwsza w oczy rzuciła mi się jego lekkomyślność, a wręcz głupota. No, ale okej, był młody, często wpada się wtedy na dziwne pomysły. W tym momencie nie spodobało mi się też to, że ani jego brat, ani przyjaciel, nie wpadł na pomysł powiedzenia czegokolwiek jego rodzicom. 📚Happy Independent Bookstore Day!!📚 This stack of books is my #bookhaul, not from a bookstore but from Bookstock, which I went to a couple of weeks ago. It is a huge used book sale that raises money for literacy❤️. I do plan on getting to another indie bookstore soon and sharing it with you all. There are plenty in SE Michigan I haven't yet explored. In my stack, I was probably most excited to find the first two books in Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall trilogy. I've heard nothing but good things about that series. The Whalebone Theatre, I'd been meaning to grab for awhile, so that was nice to find. I replaced an acting book that never got returned to me🫤- Respect for Acting by the renowned Uta Hagen and added a new one. I'm also looking forward to reading The Incredible Journey with my son😊. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 After Off the Hook, I was literally hooked. But then Julie had to drop this one and I am completely wishing I lived in Never Harbor. Both Marina and Cassidy are the perfect pairing. It’s not often that I read a Sunshine x Sunshine pairing but man this was done so well. They both had big insecurities that they covered up by trying to be everything for everyone. But when they were able to be something for each other it just made sense. The Davies family is a LARGE family with lots of characters however Julie has a way of making you remember each one and their significance to each other and I love that. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Davies crew & Never Harbor!

🦂 The Familiar ⏳ I saw a lot of mixed reviews for this one but I have to say that I really enjoyed it! I liked the pacing throughout and really loved how aspects of the end worked out. I felt like this read flew by for me and I didn’t want to stop. I thought the magic was done very well! Bardugo has been like that with just about every book of hers I’ve read. I really wanted to love them… but I just didn’t 🫢 •this first one might be controversial, as I know a lot of people loved it. I think Zevin is a very talented writer and she clearly knows how to tell a captivating story… I think the ending just fell flat for me. To me, it didn’t feel like there was proper closure on the relationship between Sadie and Sam and it just left me wanting more of the story. as well, there are jumps to the future throughout the novel that I was expecting to swing back around to at the end, and then we didn’t. I do think it’s a really unique story that is told through such an interesting lens, but I was just expecting more from the ending. •being completely honest… I DNF’ed this one. the story dragged on to the point where halfway through, I just couldn’t do it anymore. it felt like nothing was happening, and don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to a slow burn, but I didn’t even feel any chemistry. I really tried to get into this one… I just couldn’t. •I read The Darkest Minds a few years ago, and I thought the concept and ideas were really interesting, but the execution is what made it a really slow read. I really wanted to love this series, but couldn’t make it past the first book because I just wasn’t a fan of the author’s writing style. I felt that if it were a bit more polished, this could have been a really successful series. ••• as always, this is just my opinion! if you loved any of these books, that’s great! Hay una sección que es “Orgullo y prejuicio” expresa sobre el amor, también sobre lo que es amar y tener que dejar ir con dolor a ese amor. “(Mal) educadas” relata cómo es ser mujer y las diversas violencias que sufrimos día tras día. Otro tópicos que leemos son el duelo, familia, amistad, deseo y cómo es la experiencia personal de la autora viviendo en un mundo con un cuerpo no heteronormativo. Opinión personal: Muchas gracias a Creativa por la confianza y el ejemplar. Me gustó la pluma de la autora. Me parecieron fascinantes las comparaciones que la autora utilizó a lo largo de sus poemas. Me sentí identificada con la gran mayoría de los poemas de “Orgullo y prejuicio”. Un poema de esa parte que me encantó fue: “(...) Mis labios saben a ignorancia la tuya, en tu burbuja feliz la mía, que con tal de verte así luzco todos mis dotes actorales y atesoro nuestros pequeños momentos en el cofre de lo imposible.” También sentí algo de impotencia por el realismo con el que se expresa la experiencia del acoso que sufren las mujeres a diario. Desde la primera página me dejó sin aliento y tan solo quería y necesitaba continuar para que mi corazón volviese a latir con normalidad. ¡Menuda fatiga! Leer a Javier Castillo es como estar en una montaña rusa pero de esas que dan vértigo, que te desbocan el corazón y que una vez bajas de ella solo logras decir wow y tardas un rato en volver a la normalidad. Así que si, se ha vuelto a pasar el juego. Su trama es trepidante, oscura y por momentos perturbadora… pensar que estas cosas suceden en nuestro mundo da realmente pánico… ¿cómo pueden existir personas así? Bueno, personas no, es que no tienen ni calificativo. Una vez más me ha vuelto a conquistar con todas las reflexiones que encuentras a lo largo de la novela. Son increíbles, de las que te hacen pensar, te llegan y no olvidas. Tiene tanto fondo esta historia y sus personajes que es una auténtica delicia leerla. Ha sido un viaje fascinante y con un final a la altura🥹❤️🩹 Podría decir muchas cosas de La grieta del silencio pero no quiero, lo único que quiero y pido con esta humilde y pequeña opinión es que te animes a leerlo. No te defraudará y te dejará con ganas de más porque si hay algo que crean las novelas de Javier Castillo es adicción. Son una droga literaria que en cuanto salen a la luz todxs corremos a por ella y durante unas horas nuestras glándulas suprarrenales no dejarán de segregar adrenalina y te harán sentir como he dicho antes, en una auténtica, jodida y maravillosa montaña rusa.
