祈福 Pray for blessings 2024.2.10-12 Shot on #Nikon camera #媽閣廟 #amatemple LARGO DO PAGODE DA BARRA 是澳門耳熟能詳的名勝古蹟之一，早在明朝澳門開埠前，已屹立在今日所見的位置，至今有五百多年歷史，是澳門三大禪院中最古者。原稱媽祖閣，又名正覺禪林，俗稱天后廟。整座廟宇包括媽祖殿（大殿）、石殿、弘仁殿及觀音閣四幢主要建築。昔日的澳門還是一條漁村，許多居民從事漁業，經常出入媽閣廟祈求庇佑。廟中香火鼎盛，每年更有四個主要的傳統活動供善信參拜祈福，包括大年三十晚的上頭炷香、觀音開庫、媽祖誕及媽祖昇仙。有關媽祖的賀誕活動更會有神功戲演出，讓人重溫媽祖的神話故事。 It is one of the most familiar places of interest in Macau. It stood where it is seen today before the opening of the port of Macau in the Ming Dynasty. It has a history of more than 500 years and is the oldest among the three major Buddhist temples in Macau. Formerly known as Mazu Pavilion, also known as Zhengjue Zen Forest, commonly known as Tianhou Temple. The whole temple consists of four main buildings: Mazu Hall (Main Hall), Stone Hall, Hongren Hall and Guanyin Pavilion. In the old days, Macau was still a fishing village. Many residents engaged in fishing and often went to the A-Ma Temple for blessing. The incense in the temple is prosperous, and there are four main traditional activities every year for faithful worship and blessings, including the upper head incense on the 30th night of the Lunar New Year, the opening of Guanyin library, the birthday of Mazu and the ascension of Mazu. Family-owned and full of charm, they’ve kept their original 60’s and 70’s vibes intact 🥟 The owner of this place was so nice! Counting down to my next trip by uploading unposted pictures from my past trip’s backlog! While waiting for Lord Stow’s OG store to open (we arrived at Coloane super early to beat the bakery crowd), we walked around the Coloane Town Square (more pics in next posts) and found a very charming mini chapel. Despite the mini size, it is quite steep in historical significance. It houses a relic of St Francis Xavier, and relics of various Japanese and Vietnamese martyrs. The surprised slavic-looking priests tried their best to inform me on the Sunday mass timing in English (correctly identified these never-seen-before visitors as curious tourists)

#红街市 Red market 2022.3.27 Shot on #Nikon camera 建于1936年的菜市场，是目前唯一被列入澳门文物名录的街市建筑。因其建筑外墙颇具特色，整体为红色，所以才被称为红街市。它保留和呈现着澳门的本土特色，露天街市、杂货铺、烧味、鱼鲜、瓜菜、肉类、饼店......处处体现着人间烟火。街市將在本月28日暂停營業，整治修葺工程约需两年，在搬迁前最后一日，不少档贩陆续清走档口物品和工具到临时街市，今天澳门市民和档贩都为经营逾80年的街市拍照留念。 The vegetable market, built in 1936, is currently the only street market building listed on the Macao Cultural Heritage List. Because of the distinctive exterior walls of the buildings, the whole is red, so it is called the Red Market. It retains and presents the local characteristics of Macau, with open-air markets, grocery stores, siu-mei, fish, vegetables, meat, cake shops...everywhere reflects the fireworks of the world. The market will be closed on the 28th of this month, renovation works will take about two years. On the last day before the relocation, many stall vendors have successively removed the goods and tools from the stalls to the temporary market.
