A “crazy hair don’t care” moment after getting off the plane ✈️ Early drive to LAX, direct flight, waiting to be picked up in the wonderful heat and humidity. Traveling with this little one is a piece of cake! It’s been 9 months since her last flight, but to her it was NBD😉 She’s a pro! Now to spend a few days with her birth family ♥️ We love them so much and are so grateful to get to have this special relationship with them💕 **also, first flight since my back surgery and all went way better than I had hoped! So very happy and thankful about that! 🙌🏽 Praise the LORD! 🤍
We would do just about anything to avoid standing in a long line with a gaggle of children. Especially children that we are about to strap in a seat for many hours. These apps are our summer lifesavers. -The TSA App (MyTSA) lists the airport wait times, so you know what you're in for. -They also have access to "Can I bring it?" where you can search for items you have questions about. -They have a chat function if you have more questions. -And my favorite for my forgetful self is your KTN number, front and center and easy to see. -The Customs and Border Patrol - Mobile Passport Control App (CBP MPC) - This app was recommended to us when we registered for our passports. -Only my husband has Global Entry and the rest of us suckers get to schlep through customs. -This makes it way easier and most airports will have a separate line for those who have the app that is rumored to move at double speed. -Just fill out your info on the app ahead of time, until you get the QR code, and bring your app and the passport through security. Remember, the bed feature of the BedBox requires a full seat, so make sure each child has their own. Safety first! 👩👧👦 It's important to have an adult occupying the aisle seat in case of any emergencies. Pro tip: If you find yourself seated between two aisles without a window seat, no worries! Just place the two BedBoxes in the middle seats, and have the accompanying adults sit in the aisle seats. This way, the aisle seat is available for adults accompanying young children. Flying solo with 2 kids… I have officially survived my first solo trip with a 7month old & a 3 year old! It was certainly a juggle with 2 (including needing an air hostess to look after one child whilst I took the other to the toilet - and then switching - 4 times each child may I add!!) But, here are some things which helped make the travels a little easier: - Snacks: all the snacks for a teething baby & a fussy eater, however Emirates provide Ella’s Kitchen pouches for little ones & a fab kids meal for Bodhi - Seat selection: window seat for Bodhi so no getting up & wandering off! Plus bassinet seat for Blake meaning more leg room & a place for her to sleep - Toys: lots of new cheap toys revealed 1 at a time if Bodhi started to get bored. Alllll the playdoh which he’s obsessed with. Also new sticker books worked a treat! - Jet Kids: controversial with Emirates but my thoughts were that it’s great even just to store all his toys in & for him to sit on in the airport, we did however get to use it on the flight on the way out which was a bonus! - Babyzen Yoyo Connect: sooo handy when flying solo to allow me to push both kids at once & hang all bags on! Taken on the flight in the cabin so easy when landing too - Comfort: both kids had their usual comforts to help keep them settled - dummies, Jelly cat bunnies, her LTD swaddle. Flight times: always a tricky one - the night flight back they both slept the majority of the flight after a busy week in the UK, so great IF they will sleep but can be a nightmare if they don’t. Day flight there felt very long & all the toys were needed! Either way - when you don’t have anyone with you, in some ways it’s easier to be head down, in mum mode & boss through it. First family trick or treat (plane-to-plane, of course) at Sanford Airport (KSFM) today! 🎃 👨👩👧👧 🛩 . This trip also had the distinction of being our first flight with the entire family! Both girls did great, and Dakita slept most of the time 👍 It was awesome to have a full plane!! . Huge thanks to Dan at @pilotscovecafe and @southernmaineaviation for hosting this event for all the public!! There was a steady stream of ghosts, goblins, a fluffy airplane, and a couple Rosie the Riveters all afternoon! . As it turned out we arrived just as the event started, so our plane wasn't "participating", but that turned out to be a good thing... as Piper wore down before the end of the event, so we left a little early. Had we been "in the ring", it would have been tougher to leave. It all worked out just the way it was supposed to! We donated our candy to one pilot and his significant other, so they benefitted 👍 . It was a pleasure to meet a few fellow pilots and IGers as well, particularly Chris of @pilot.werx his family, and his gorgeous turbine Beaver! .
