Proč bych Sicílii s půlročním dítětem nedoporučila? ❌ Holky a bambini po tejdnu odletěly. Vystřídal je Viktor a obě babičky. Těšila jsem se na režim "noste mi ho jenom na kojení", nezávislost nabytou s půjčením auta a prvoplánovej turismus. Savoca, Noto, Syrakusy, Katánie, Etna, Acireale. Och, ach, vyfoť mě, prodluž parkování. I když se nám východ ostrova líbil, pro náš současnej styl cestování se neosvědčil. Jak to? 1) Vzdálenosti mezi památkama nemluví ve prospěch settingu "jedna základna, hvězdicovitý výlety". OK, 75 minut tam, zpátky o něco víc kvůli večerní zácpě... a najednou v autě strávíš tři hodiny za den. I když to Vincent ve vajíčku zvládal skvěle, střídat ubytka po dvou nocích - nebo jet na menší kus pevniny - by dávalo větší smysl 🫠 2) Sicilané poctivě dodržujou siestu. Než se pět osob naskládá do káry a dotáhne se do kýženýho cíle, krámy zavíraj. Kšefty se do provozu vrací až s večerníma zprávama, což si vyčekáte jako bezdětný, ale s bábem tou dobou už potřebujete valit domů, že. Oranžovej krasohled nám sice vždycky někde namíchali, ale města jsme poznáváli poněkud v ospalym vibu 🥱 3) Chodníky, výtahy, rampy... nulla. Ale čekat od jihu Itálie bezbariérovou inkluzivitu by bylo naivní. Jen nás překvapovalo, jak málo pomoci nám Íčka nabízeli. Na sviště se pitvoří každej číša, ale ohnutej hřbet k předním kolečkům na schodech udělá větší službu 🫵 Neříkám, že Sicílie sucks, to vůbec. Palermo a západní pobřeží zůstává na wishlistu. After not going on an airplane with the kids since 2019, first time flying long distance with a 4, 7, 9 year old is so hard!! I had bought the cheapest flight that I could find, hence we had to travel over 24hrs! It was BRUTAL. The kids did not do well on the plane flying at night because of several reasons. 1) They are so much bigger now, so sleeping was very difficulty. They curled up and slept on Daddy’s legs, one on each side of him, it was NOT fun. (see picture) 2) Their brains were so excited about the whole flying experience that even though their bodies were screaming to them that they were tired, their minds were not cooperating. They were very dysregulated from overexhaustion. We experienced several major meltdowns on the planes that included full out screaming and limbs flailing everywhere. 😩 So that was on our way to Canada, we were SOOOOO HAPPY when we finally arrived! On our way back to Hong Kong, we actually got on the flight at 6:30am in the morning! Which means we had to get to the airport at about 3:30-4:00am 🥴 We anticipated meltdowns every step of the way from Canada back to HK, but it turned out way better for several reasons: 1️⃣We prepped SO much snacks and charged up all devices and downloaded a LOT of cartoons. They REALLY helped! 2️⃣We flew in the daytime so we did not have to force the children to sleep, they can stay up and watch as much TV as they like while us parents can watch as much TV as we want! #winwin 😆😆 3️⃣Just being mentally prepared to deal with meltdowns helped us. In conclusion, in the future, I would buy daytime flights so we don’t have to deal with trying to make the children sleep when they don’t want to! The other thing I learned from a friend is, we could get #sunflowerlanyard ahead of time for the kids to wear! The lanyards inform the staff members that the wearer of the lanyard has hidden disabilities and may need more time and assistance at the airport. Which would be so helpful! For us, meltdowns takes 30 min - 3 hours to resolve, knowing that the right people know what we might need helps put our minds at ease.

Sociální experiment, protože dvě z nás si na letišti teprve potřásly prackama na seznámení. Bootcamp transformující respektující rodičky v nezničitelný, Proseccem promazaný stroje. Copa ňákej Survivor. Pro mě taky další emancipační krok v cestování s #vondrafulbaby. Chrochtala jsem blahem, že je denně v kontaktu s dalšíma loupežníkama (a přežil bez ztráty oka). Cenila soudržnost skupiny v boji se schodištěma, při vaření, u večerního tlachán. Osahala si víc svoje sebevědomí a limity, který při budoucích tripech bez Viktora potřebuju znát. Negativa? Vzhledem k požadavkům “dům se čtyřma ložnicema” a “dostupný vlakem z Katánie” jsme bydlely v dost autentický prdeli s názvem Carruba (polkněte C pro karibskej vibe). Tři kiláky na pláž nezní dramaticky, dokud máte ležáka v korbě jako já. S malýma chodcema a italskou absencí chodníků už to drhne. Těšení na otce a pohodlí domova nás hitlo pátej den. Flying with a baby ✈️😍 Here are some things that helped us make our flying experience a bit easier with our very active baby.😄 Invest in a good compact travel stroller: The one that we use is @cybex_global coya. It lie flats down so he can take naps anywhere and it also folds very well so you can put it in the overhead cabin. However getting a Yoyo might be better option as many airline staffs are educated on that. Been able to put the stroller in the overhead storage will makes things so much easier. Pick a night flight or try to schedule it during their nap times. Give it plenty of time in the airport as things might take time. Let them roam around/play just before the flight. Change the diaper just before you board and have a pack seperate for diaper changes. Pack extra clothes for baby and you in case if things get messy. Do not feed them big meals just before take off and landing as there will be turbulance and there’s a chance they might throw up. Make a pack of their favourite books or toys. You can take baby food and milk without a problem through security but still things like diaper creams or baby moisturing creams still need to meet the required liquid restriction limits. Pack baby snacks to keep them busy. ✨Airports and plane rides with little ones don’t have to be stressful! A few pro tips to share as Stef and Noah are on the road this weekend: ✨Wear Crocs or other slides to make the TSA experience easier. Slide them off, slide them on, and you are on your way! Also, per TSA “Children 12 and under can leave their shoes, light jackets and headwear on during screening.” ✨Bring snacks and a refillable water bottle. The water bottle must be empty when you go through security, but you can fill it after. Unopened snacks are fine so tuck a few in your travel bag and enjoy while you wait or even on the plane. Stef likes to grab a coffee at the airport coffee shop right before boarding to enjoy during the flight. ✨Crayola Color Wonder is perfect for a long plane ride. Noah brought markers and finger paints this time (stampers). He had a great time creating art while enjoying the clouds and sunny skies. ✨Neck pillows make plane naps better. Buy one before you get to the airport! We made it! Yay! 🤍 So, it's Damian's first flight. After a short 'Mudik Lebaran' road trip (Jakarta-Madiun-Jogja-Solo-Jakarta), we continued our journey by plane. Morning flight from Jakarta with a transit in Singapore to Hong Kong. Our baby first flight experience was amazing. I really loved the cabin crew's hospitality. They were so nice and sweet, helping us a lot during our flight. I also tried to sleep with Damian during the flight because we left very early in the morning. Here are a few of my favorite activities for flying with kids! I have 2 girls, 4&6, and we’ve been traveling with similar activities for years! ✈️ Reusable Activity Cards - loads of games to play and reuse with a dry erase marker! Tip: split the cards into packs of 10-15 cards, hole punch the corner and tie a ribbon! Store the marker in a fun sock which can also be used as an eraser! ✈️ Activity Books - old fashioned pencil and paper books are also great for coloring and fun! ✈️ Sticker Books - these keep my kids quiet for hours! We use them for take-off and landing because they’re their favorite activity. I also bring extras in my suitcase for meals out! ✈️ Yoto Player - screen free alternative for stories & music! Our mini Yoto comes on every trip! ✈️ Figurines - great for some quieter play! ✈️ iPad - I’m not against tablet time but we rarely use it outside of travel so it’s a treat for our kiddos. We wait until after takeoff to pull it out and offer a movie or a game option. Then it goes away. On longer flights they have more time on it. What are your travel favorites? Travel snacks I have found when flying it’s all about the snacks! Last year I got these boxes from Amazon and they work perfectly for snacks. You can change the dividers which helps to find in a range of food. In one of the photos you can see the food I brought. The empty container I put a satsuma in. Flights Pt2 - This is specifically about @billundairport . We'd had such a smooth journey via @stn_airport but our travel through @billundairport was a bit more challenging. Billund Airport 1. At Billund airport you will need to check your pram before going through security. This panicked me as A was currently fast asleep in it and we had 5 pieces of hand luggage to try and carry without the help of the pram. I don't think I'd seen anyone else mention this so I just wasn't prepared. They do have strollers available after you get through security but the one we picked was super squeaky and hard to steer. 2. Even though we could check in our pram at the gate in Stansted and hand it over at the plane, it then wasn't available to pick up till baggage claim in Billund so make sure you have a carrier! 3. Bus transfers from Billund airport to the major attractions is super easy. You can pay by cash or the airport had ticket machine for card payments. You can also buy your return bus tickets from the Service Centre @lalandia . The 43 bus stops at Legoland, Lalandia, Legoland Hotels and Lego House so you are covered wherever your first stop is! I'm really looking forward to getting another flight under our belts and give me a shout if I've not covered everything!
Flights Pt1 - I can't lie, the prospect of our first flight with the kids was giving me the biggest anxiety pre holiday. I decided to just try and relax and in the end it really wasn't that bad. I even lucked out on the return journey with 2 sleepers! We flew @stn_airport to @billundairport via @ryanair booking directly on Ryanairs website. Some tips below: Stansted/general 1. Book much more in advance than we did. Airport parking was very expensive by this point but always pre book! If you can be flexible, it will enable you to cherry-pick the cheapest flights. You will be charged £8 for a seat choice, even more if spaces are limited. Infant seats are £25 each way no matter what, which was actually more than our tickets! You can also check in a child item for free, including a car seat, pram or travel cot for each infant or child ticket. 2. Try and pick flights that suit your families routine. I'll be the first to admit we throw routine and timings out the window on holiday, but we knew a late night flight would not work for us. We physically can't carry all the luggage and 3 (potentially sleeping) kids! We booked the first flight out, so they slept in the car and had breakfast on the plane. Our flight back was 4.30pm and meant the youngest 2 could nap and we still had time to grab dinner before driving home. Factor into account the potential for delays. We landed 40mins late back to the UK and the taxied for ages to then have to get a bus back to the terminal. Passport control was really busy too and it took us 45mins of queuing. 3. We decided to keep it cheap and just do hand luggage. Although space wise, we had enough for our trip, it was hard juggling 5 different pieces of luggage. I definitely think we will just pay to check 1 larger piece in, but hubby disagrees saying it was fine 🤷♀️ 4. We don't generally use tablets out and about but I regret not taking one as there is just so much waiting around! Check out Pt2 for our experience @billundairport

Flying with disabled kids. Our experience today was by no means special. We dread flying with her and there is always something. We try to learn, but it seems there are endless possibilities for f* up’s. 2022 - we waited 2h at the gate (alone) because her special needs push chair was send to baggage claim. - we learned to take the less supportive, but foldable one and fight the “this can go in the plane”fight 2023- walker got damaged - bought the hockey bag 2024 - outbound -the glass shard - and guess what- she once again got offered a glass today (imagine us repeating plastic please 10x) - so much for internal investigations. Inbound - see below All long haul - we try to upgrade to premium economy as early boarding is at the mercy of the agents at the gate Disability signs on everything We buy lounge access to give us space and time All the above comes with additional cost, but mostly we avoid flying all together. What got me today is how much people don’t care! The agent was annoyed with us from the start, she did a super eye roll, when we pointed out that the stroller is actually a wheel chair. She stormed off without a word to get a supervisor for the hockey bag. And the explanation in detail is here: - if a bag contains just a mobility aid it can be almost any weight - if there is anything else in it isn’t a mobility aid anymore - Air Canada has a special mobility aid programme that gets them safely in the plane, but not necessarily out. So if damaged when unloading or not ready at the gate it is not their problem. (This is precisely why we have the bag) - I am human and have two hands, so suitcases, carry ons, medical equipment, wheelchair , walker are a bit much to begin with, let alone if we have to divide everything up - everybody is always really sorry, but the rules are the rules - yet rules are fluid (we travelled with this exact set up 3x times until we today encountered the woman who didn’t believe in disability. What can you take in your hand luggage if you are flying with a baby? There is so much confusion over what you can and can’t take onboard in hand luggage. The 100ml rule is still very strictly followed across the world when carrying liquids, but does this rule apply when you are travelling with your little one? The answer is no. This advice comes straight from the government website. When travelling with a baby you’re allowed to take enough baby food, baby milk and sterilised water for the journey. There is no legal limit to how much you can take however check with your airport before you travel. You can carry breast milk in hand luggage even if you’re not travelling with a baby. You cannot carry frozen breast milk in hand luggage. Individual containers of breast milk must hold no more than 2,000ml. Each container will need to be screened at the security point. Family of 9 takes on Nevada… our school here in WI doesn’t have a spring break - but a few days off around Easter. For a gift for Christmas I sent the kids ( and Seth) on a scavenger hunt around the house and each place had a puzzle piece and clue for this surprise. And my husband wasn’t even mad I bought 9 plane tickets without telling him:)! We spent 5 days visiting Seth’s Aunt and Uncle In Las Vegas. We went to Valley of Fire, the Silverton Aquarium, shopping, Container Park, walked briefly down Fremont street ( didn’t remember how not kid- friendly it can be 😬) , the boys golfed at Dessert Willow and The Legacy and we spent our last day in a cabana at Mandalay Bay. It went way too quickly but was very enjoyable in Aunti Kim’s and Uncle Marks company! There is plenty of stuff to do around Vegas and each trip is fun to try something new. Sometimes I just gaze at him in complete awe; he’s the epitome of a selfless and loving father. During a 12-hour flight with our overtired two-year-old, I observed this man cuddle and cradle our youngest with nothing but pure love and patience for a solid 12 hours. With my ever-growing belly accommodating our littlest love on the way, carrying Lyla or having her sleep on me for long periods is a difficult task. I watched him wrap his arms around her tightly, reassuring her with every unsettled movement she made, manoeuvring himself into the most uncomfortable positions for hours on end just so she could sleep well or doing everything possible to make her comfy and happy when she was awake. Seeing this, I’ve come to realise that my favourite parts of our recent trip have been finding beauty in the hardest moments. Our kids are truly blessed with an amazing father, and sometimes you’re reminded of this in the most unexpected ways. Choose the Right Flight Time If your child naps easily, try to schedule a flight within 30 minutes of the start of naptime so that you don’t have an overtired child. Lastly, avoid 5 a.m. departure times with kids at all cost! 2. Opt for a Backpack Carry-On 3. Gate Check Your Stroller As an added bonus, strollers could potentially get you access to a shorter security line - that happened to us on a recent trip. 4. Bring a Reusable Water Bottlet Although you can’t bring liquids into the airport, once you get through security, you’ll be able to fill up your reusable water bottle. This saves you from buying a $7 water, and it especially comes in handy during takeoff if your child has ear discomfort from the pressure changing. Sucking on a straw or something similar will help alleviate that pressure. 5. Pack Bulky Items with the Car Seat If you have bulky items, like diapers or swim toys, pack them in the same bag as your complimentary checked car seat to save on space. 6. Download Entertainment in Advance Apps like Amazon Prime and Disney+ allow you to download content for offline viewing. 7.
