Vor kurzem wurde ich gefragt, ob es nicht langweilig wird immer die gleichen Familienfotos zu machen. Und ich musste erstmal lachen 😄 weil einfach keine Familie ist wie die andere und es jedes Mal ein ganz anderes Erlebnis ist. Die Kinder werden größer, es kommen neue Familienmitglieder dazu, man hat sich Neues zu erzählen, das Leben und die Menschen verändern sich. And thankfully when I asked this family if they were open to trying somewhere new, they were in! I just LOVE families that are down for an adventure. Taking on this week full throttle! This is my last week of shooting before I start getting my life ready to add a 3rd human to the mix. In my opinion, there is nothing better than a raw authentic portrait. I want to remember my children exactly as they are in this moment in their lives—happy, sad, silly, tired, curious, frustrated. This just may be my own personal preference, but this is why photographs are invaluable to me. They give you the unique opportunity to freeze and revisit a second in time over and over again, replaying memories of when our kids were smaller. Does the nostalgia sometimes make me cry, yes. Will I ever take enough photos of my own kids, of course not. I'll always want more and for time to slow down so I can soak up all the precious moments. What if school portraits could be like this? Earlier this week I had some families in my local moms group over for a morning playdate and a quick pop up portrait session. You would never know just how much sugar, noise and general chaos was involved during these sessions - clearly we had a blast! In honour of family day, a sweet little post of one of my favourite families. These two became clients and then fast friends, years later I’ve not only documented their engagement, wedding and growing family, but they’ve hosted me at both their home out west and their cottage oasis. These are the types of clients I truly do this business for. The ones that feel like family from the first meeting. The ones that make me feel valued and special.
