Throughout the month of May, explore historic artful miniature replicas of full-grown trees including a 50 year old redwood that is only two feet tall. Filoliโs bonsai collection consists of large historic Bourn and Roth plants as well as smaller plants donated after the Roth era. Filoli contains a variety of beautiful irises around the Garden, but the particular showstoppers are along the Iris Border next to the Rose Garden. One of the original historic varieties at Filoli is the โPurissimaโ iris planted by Mrs. Roth to prepare for her daughterโs wedding in what we today call the white iris border. During AAPI month, Filoli celebrates the culture of native Pacific Islanders. Pasifika Planting Group has a plot in the Vegetable Garden, a space for Pasifika people living in the Bay Area to grow and heal through planting traditional foods and medicines on this land. They have been growing many beautiful crops indigenous to their homeland including taro, sฤซ plant, kava, and kumala sweet potato.
