Starting plants from seed this year definitely came with a learning curve. I learned a lot. Like peat pots don't work for me, peppers are hard to grow, where you get your seeds matters, potting up needs to be done sooner than later, and when your outlets that you've plugged in all your lights and heat lamps into tries to burn your house down so you have to shut everything down for days with all your plants in your dark 50*F basement while you wait for your brother in law to graciously come install new outlets it's totally ok to start over even if it means your plants are tiny come May. Anyway, if half of these 48 tomatoes, 24 kale, 60 basil, 10 jalapeños, 24 broccoli, 12 Shishito, 20 watermelon, and endless onions make it to harvest I'll be thrilled 🤷♀️🌱 #farmlife #growyourownfood #farm #garden #gardening #seedstarting #tomatoes

Four frosts over the last ten days and plenty of grey chilly days really haven’t helped but slowly things are moving on… in the poly bed all the Dahlias are now up and I’ve potted on the tiny tomatoes (sown 23/3) and moved out most of the cornflowers and cosmos. All the spuds are also up but some do have a little frost damage even though they’ve been fleeced, but nothing that should do any harm. The first lettuce - winter density, elephant garlic and shallots are progressing and I’ve had a third harvest of the rhubarb that’s romping away. The main strawberry bed is full of promise but the frosts have blackened some of the eyes and the wisteria has also suffered but it’s bursting with buds and is around 2 weeks ahead of last year. Meanwhile the boundary behind the fruit wall is growing rapidly now. I like the large fruit on the PL plant (far right) and the bushier tendency but very late to open more flowers. Far left is simply too big. Left center has some promise, it has multiflora trait of Red Raindrops with a bit larger fruit size, definitely the most compact of the Giant Drops F2s as well.
