Back to same customer as earlier in week to put up this screen to take your eye away from oil tank . Customer is planning to grow something against it to soften the look . Working on a slope in both directions of the garden … we also trimmed back some overgrown shrubs and took a lot of dead wood out of some roses . More work still to be completed in the up and coming weeks , making it look lovely for spring . #gardeninginspiration #gardeninginsuffolk #gardeningonaslope

This Senecio scandens makes a dainty curtain over an arch in our garden with its small but plentiful flowers. Perfectly hardy here in Suffolk. #senecioscandens #climbingdaisy #asteraceae #climbingplants #octoberflowers #yellowflowers #gardeninginsuffolk #suffolkgarden

Hosta time! I always think that the best thing about hostas is their foliage but when they’re flowering en masse, providing a mini forest of flowers close-up, they really come into their own. And, of course, the bees love them! #mygarden #mygardentoday #hostas #hostasofinstagram #ericasgarden #gardeninginsuffolk #suffolkgardener

Lush growth on Cissus striata, it's obligingly hiding an ugly concrete wall, and seems perfectly hardy in our Ipswich garden. It will climb, spread or trail, and is evergreen. #cissusstriata #vitaceae #climbingplants #trailingplants #gardeninginsuffolk

How's your Thursday been? I've spent mine here, at The Cottage. It was a bit chilly today (I had to put a fleece on at one point 😖), but I had another wonderful day sorting an area of this lovely garden. It was the welcome break from my computer screen that I needed this week. Back to the drawing board tomorrow. 🙂 I also have a product delivery arriving..! . . . . . #AtTheCottage #countrycottage #countryliving #countrycottagestyle #countrysidegarden #suffolkgarden #suffolkgardens #gardeninginsuffolk #suffolkgardener #curvededges #curvedflowerbed #sweepingcurves #underthepeartree #pearblossom #cottagegarden

Hello! I haven’t showed my face on the grid since “the beginning” and since I have some new followers, I wanted to say “hi and welcome to Talking of Plants”. 👋 I'm Hannah, a former Lingerie Designer turned Illustrator and Gardener. I am the face and hands of absolutely everything Talking of Plants. I work from my tiny office from my home in the Suffolk village of Stradbroke. I am the ultimate crazy cat AND plant lady and am a proud parent to rescue mogs, @ceefaoatsandtoast; and my growing collection of succulent plant-babies. You’ll get to know that I love talking and I love plants, which prompted the name “Talking of Plants”. This brand new venture was born out of a love to combine my two biggest passions; illustration and plants. I design and illustrate all the Talking of Plants gifts and homeware and will be adding to my ranges all the time. Psst! There are lots of exciting things in the pipeline. Day to day I hang out here on the gram, and regularly post to my stories; where I share snippets of my design development and little bits of what I am up to in my garden. Please head to my website to view my gift range and read my plant blog (linked in profile). . . . . .

A group of very chilly volunteers met on Thursday to decorate a tree and add some new additions to the fairy tree. Then we had a warming cup of tea and some delicious eats given as a thank you from Michael and Frances Hampshire along with goodies brought by June and Sally. It was Merry Christmases all round as we will next meet in February. However, I will keep doing garden updates here.

🌷Name change! With the move to the new house - I've decided a new name is in order! . My little Riverside Veg name has seen me through the the start of my gardening journey in 2015. Since then I've had three different gardens, taken my RHS qualifications- and now I'm taking on my biggest challenge yet...garden number FOUR! . So in that vein I'm retiring Riverside Veg and will now be Joella's Garden...thanks for following along! 🤗🥰 . #new #changes #gardening #mygarden #newhome #instagarden #gardendesign #suffolk #gardeninginsuffolk #gardeninspo #gardenersofinstagram

Cissus striata doing a great job covering an unsightly wall. This makes an unusual evergreen trailing, climbing or ground cover plant, hardy in mild winters and gardens. #cissusstriata #vitaceae #trailingplants #groundcoverplants #gardeninginsuffolk

Mandevilla laxa (previously suaveolens) waking up and stretching in the morning sun, it's going to enjoy the hot day ahead! Its common name, Chilean Jasmine, is misleading - it's not in the Jasmine family (Oleaceae) but in the Apocynaceae. This climber needs a warm spot, especially when young. We had a ten year old plant at our previous nursery site which survived minus ten or lower. A beautiful plant! #climbingplants #scentedplants #scentedclimbers #mandevillalaxa #chileanjasmine #apocynaceae #gardeninginsuffolk

I've been trying to tidy the garden a bit - taking the lower branches off this Phillyrea angustifolia has let in the light, but revealed yet more jungle beyond to be tackled, when the rain stops. #phillyreaangustifolia #oleaceae #gardening #evergreenshrubs #jasminbox #tidyingthegarden #gardeninginsuffolk

Glorious berries on Cotoneaster 'Cornubia', these tend to be the last to be eaten by the birds in our garden. Last winter the Redwings and Fieldfares cleared them in a day. #cotoneastercornubia #rosaceae #berryingshrubs #berriesforbirds #autumninthegarden #redberries #autumncolour #gardeninginsuffolk

Tulbaghia violacea 'Pallida' caught my eye this evening. With so many colourful flowers about it's nice to have some pure white too. #tulbaghiaviolacea #tulbaghiaviolaceaalba #whiteflowers #eveninginthegarden #gardeninginsuffolk

Rather than sweep the steps, which requires two hands and a lot of hard work, I find it easier to wash the steps down. This frees up a hand so I can drink a glass of wine, and create a temporary water feature and at the same time. #gardening #multitasking #gardeninginsuffolk
