#Rio - In Foster - Midlands Rio is recovering slowly from his surgeries, his left eye is starting to open up a little bit now. We think it's gonna take a little more time than expected because of how many facial folds, how much they removed and the swelling. #Rosie - in foster - Midlands Hi all, just a little update all about me โบ๏ธ I've been to the doggie shop with foster nan, food everywhere, it was so exciting ๐ค Iโve been to the vet and have been given two weeks worth of anti inflammatory medication to see if this makes my knee feel better . The good news is the vet doesnโt think it will required surgery but I have to go back in 14 days to see if itโs settled down. #Diesel in foster - Midlands Our lovely old boy Diesel has had his vet check and we are shocked ๐ญ He has an untreated cruciate ligament rupture that is now too late to repair He has a grade 2 heart murmur that is age related He is completely blind and canโt be operated on because of his heart condition His teeth are smelly with plaque but again he canโt be put under GA He has chronic inflammation of the left ear so that requires treatment Heโs under weight and his hips are arthritic so we need to be mindful of him gaining too much weight Diesel now has a treatment plan and he is dealing with foster life remarkedly well. #Blue ๐ฅณ๐คฉ๐ฅณ We have some lovely news for you today, Blue has gone home ๐ก We were heartbroken for Blue when he came into foster, he was very skinny with a horrible skin infection he was fighting, he had been suffering from neglect for some time. Blueโs wonderful foster mum Kelly wasted no time getting him fit. It took a long time and commitment from his FM to heal Blue, and now he has flourished into a beautiful boy who loves life. Thank you Kelly, your commitment and effort to heal Blue has been amazing and we are very thankful to you for never giving up, you have made such a difference to his life and we will be forever grateful ๐ Yesterday, Blue was collected by Laura and Jon and his new life had begun. He was fabulous overnight, and he settled very well..... and its safe to say Laura & Jon are smitten. #Bruce Please welcome Bruce to our GBSR family! Bruce a 4 year old entire male. We were contacted early last week by someone who was concerned about Bruce and his condition. They had spoken his owner and helped them understand that Bruce needed more than they could give. Unfortunately Bruce's skin condition is going to be costly to treat in the 1st instance and might be ongoing so they reached out to us to see if we could help him. Bruce was collected by Cherie Williams and is now a Welsh foster boy. He has been to the vet this morning. He has terribly sore skin and folds from untreated allergies and diet that just didn't suit him at all, so we have started him on a strict diet, and treatment for his itchy, flaky skin so we should see an improvement over the next few weeks. He is settling slowly although a little unsure of his new foster fur brother, a Frenchie also called Bruce, but Cherie is keeping introductions slow. #Jackie Please welcome the very beautiful little Jackie to our GBSR family Jackie is a 5 year old entire female, who sadly found herself abandoned and alone. She was taken in by Cliffe Kennels who contacted us for help as they were finding it difficult to rehome her, and she wasn't coping well in kennels. Jackie was attacked by a Lurcher while she was in kennels which has left her with a nasty bite on her muzzle. She came into foster with antibiotics and she has her 1st vet check today with us. Jackie is in foster with Kate & Mark Stockman in the Midlands thank you so much for very excitedly coming to Jackie's rescue and collecting her so quickly. This little girl is settling in with her new foster brothers but is very cautious at the moment. She is an absolute sweetheart and has already gotten Mark wrapped firmly round her little paws. #Billy โ a new name for a new life ๐โค๏ธโ๐ฉน Last week we were alerted to a very skinny little Bulldog who was abandoned and had found his way into a holding kennels ๐ He has clearly been neglected and starved so we quickly organised a foster to take him and on Saturday, Wanda Kew collected him for us. This boy had no name, his microchip is not registered anywhere, he has no DOB, no family and clearly no love in his sad little life, this is just how insignificant he is / was to the person that has neglected him, just how do people live with themselves? ๐๐ญ On arrival at Wandaโs house in the South West, Billy was a little bit anxious but bowed down to play with resident EB Winnie, which was so sweet considering what he has endured, he clearly has a lovely soul. Wanda, let him mooch about at his own pace and bless his heart, he found a patch of sunshine to bath in, in the garden. He probably hasnโt seen the sunshine during his time in the kennels and it must have felt wonderful โค๏ธโ๐ฉน BUT all is not well with Billy and this morning he had the 1st appointment with our vet because his breathing isnโt just bad, its dreadful. He rattles and wheezes terribly ๐ He has a very poor body score and is extremely congested, so he has started a course of antibiotics today ๐ How long he has had this infection for, we just donโt know but he is a people pleaser and its unforgivable that someone has left this sweet boy in this condition. We are fundraising for Billy, he literally has nothing to his name and he will likely need further intervention for his chest infection and he will need to be neutered as well as getting him on a decent diet. #Pablo We have some truly lovely news to share with you - Pablo is home๐ฅณ๐คฉ๐ฅณ Mary and Tony Leavy collected their boy from Glossop yesterday and took him back to his new home in the South East. Pablo was such a good boy on his journey and he has taken being in his new home in his stride. He had a great 1st night and how better to celebrate your 1st day in your new home than with a birthday, yes Pablo turned 3 today so its a double celebration ๐. Mary, Tony and their daughter Toni, had a birthday cake all ready for Pablo to celebrate the arrival of their new 'birthday boy' ๐ฅณ๐๐ and he has been showered with gifts. But recently, the harmony between the girls and the resident Frenchie was becoming less and less harmonious so it was with broken hearts the family asked us to take Flo back ๐ Flo went straight into foster with Helen Diggins, and her family and fell for Flo straight away. We have another home announcement ๐ฅณ โ and the lucky fella is #Bear โ he is staying with Kirsty in Scotland ๐๐คฉ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Bear came into foster with Kirsty, Davey and their pack at the beginning of December 2023. And although Bear settled into the pack well, from day 1 he has displayed severe separation anxiety ๐ช Kirsty and Daveyโs lifestyle allows them to manage Bearโs anxiety really well and Bear is definitely โDavey's dogโ and is relaxed when he is in Davey's company ๐ฅฐ He is a complex little boy, and after discussions about how moving him will impact on his mental health, we all agreed it would be in his best interests to stay with Kirsty and Davey ๐๐ So please join us in sending huge congratulations to Kirsty and Davey. Happy 4th Birthday to #Muffin AKA Chocolate Log ๐๐๐ Muffin came to GBSR at 7 months old. Sadly she had lost the use of her back legs at around 16 weeks old after she contracted meningitis, and then she was over prescribed steroids for so long that her body became hugely bloated. Baby Muffin was huge and immobile ๐ญ But Helen Lerski stepped in to foster Muffin and she was determined to get this little puppy moving. It wasn't easy, and there were many tears shed as we discussed Muffins quality of life. Her body was so damaged by the drugs, she was on a rollercoaster of extreme ill health and disability and we were on it with her, BUT failure was never and option for Helen and she nursed this little puppy back to health.
