Check out this custom made Mancala Board designed and built by OCC Student Alex ( @alex_morper ). Alex sourced the Hard Maple stock and hinges, used @adskfusion to model the parts and program the CNC toolpaths, utilized our @inventables X-Carve CNC to mill out the two halves of the board, and then used our @glowforge pro laser cutter to engrave a nice finishing touch on the top of the Mancala Board. I posted what I was making on instagram every day for several months and you know what happened? I got so burnt out I couldn't even open my personal instagram account for months. Let alone my LOOK account. I couldn't even touch my glowforge or clay supplies for months. Just goes to show that instagram is not my passion. Creating without pressure is my passion. I also learned I don't like production work. I don't like making dozens of the same piece of jewelry. What I really love is trying new techniques, trying new charms and materials, finding gorgeous chains and colors. I like creating color palettes. I like designing files to try printing on my glowforge. So moving forward I'm going to change things up a bit. I'm not going to post on instagram all the time, first and foremost. I'm not going to record myself doing everything. I'll dip in when creativity hits and stay as long or as little as I like. I'll still have physical jewelry items for sale, but I'm only going to make a few of them, and once they're gone, they're gone. But what I really want to do is create design files. Patterns, vectors, laser cutting files, display files, even things unrelated to jewelry like laser cut art and plant propagation stations.
