When I was in high school I used to do this thing called “Free Food Friday” where I would buy 2 people any food they wanted, even if it meant my bank account going negative. And trust me, it was close. There’s a popular quote that says: “Money doesn’t change you, it just amplifies who you already are.” I’m not posting this to brag, but to inspire. Did you know that over 70% of Americans have less than $1,000 in their SAVINGS accounts? Almost every time I go out to eat I’ve found tipping $1,000 to be normal. I just rarely get a picture. Doing a constant act of service as a job is difficult and not the highest paying so generally most servers rely on tips to get by. God has blessed me with so much, and when I can I try my hardest to bless someone else. Whether that’s a tip, paying their rent, or just helping with bills. 3 years ago I graduated high school & was immediately locked in the house with next to nothing in my bank account. All I wondered was when the world would return to normal or if it ever would. Despite that, within that time, I decided to take my entrepreneurial journey more serious than I ever had — not realizing the work I was doing then was defining my new normal. I couldn’t tell you how many cities I’ve been to in the past 14 days. Maybe 14. Same day flights, back and forth. Work level at all time highs while management is still having to be leveled. There’s a code written in this somewhere. I wasn’t expecting God to work as fast as He has but I know it’s key to expect the unexpected with Him. This story still gives me chills…⤵️ In the story of Lazarus, a messenger told Jesus that Lazarus was sick, to which Jesus responded by saying, “Lazarus’ sickness will not end in death…” However, to everyone’s dismay, Lazarus ended up dying. He was dead for 1, 2, 3 days. But on the 4th day, Jesus brought him back to life. Although Lazarus DID die, the ending of the sickness DID NOT end in death — because he was brought back to life. Remember, Jesus said the sickness would not END in death, but He never said death would not OCCUR. Think about that. Now I will be honest, My life is far from where it was 1, 2, 3 years ago and yet, I have never felt more content with life than when I truly put in the effort to make God the center. For the past few years, He’s always been my biggest cheerleader and there when I needed Him, but this year I decided to promote Him to the Head Coach, the GM, the Owner, the Main Executive. I don’t want to make a decision without Him. Through the ups & downs of it all (and trust me — the downs were heavy), I’ve felt relentless peace & tremendous optimism. It’s important to remember that we can only control what we can control. For the past week I’ve been fasting from 12am to 6pm, here’s some things I learned about myself in the process 👇🏾 * Most of the times when we pray to God for an answer, we’re already along the right path, we just have to continuously push forward and practice faith * I’ve been working out with a trainer for the past month my biggest philosophy is if I can’t be consistent in the gym, (the place where it physically hurts) i can’t be consistent anywhere. * Similar to how you can be consistent in your faith even when it may seem inconvenient to you, going to the gym made me realize that I can keep going despite the physical pain because there’s a bigger goal in mind. I’ve tried to fast all the way to 6 before but would often let the pain of hunger overtake my patience in the persistence… * I haven’t been on social media and I’ve been the most consistent I’ve ever been in my life with my schedule and work + I’ve been reading much more — not just the Bible but other books as well that have blown my mind. I feel the best I’ve ever felt & I’m just continuing to focus on being a servant of Christ over everything and I believe the rest will follow. I really debated posting this because I didn’t want it to come off as “flexing” but something felt different this morning & I figured if it inspires just ONE person, that’s all I need. I’m only 21 and I’m honestly still so blessed by God to be in the position to do this to those who show the most compassion on the hardest days. I’ve been giving more than is comfortable with my stomach for some years now. Proper service doesn’t always have to be for the customer. And honestly, I’ve never worked a job, but I deal with customer service daily in my business & so I know — it’s not easy to be a servant. But I’m more than just a servant of people, I’m also a servant of Christ and the word says: “They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. I was randomly on my Snapchat today & saw this old photo from 2 years ago today. My freshman year of high school, I had made a basketball video of Steph Curry and unexpectedly it got over 400,000 views. (I used to make Steph Curry edit videos on @dailycurryfeed haha 😂) I always knew I wanted to take YouTube seriously with my actual face but struggled to find the consistency or confidence, but figured one day I would really take it seriously. Hence the clown emojis because I was disappointed I had traction and abandoned it. 🤦🏾♀️ But that traction wouldn’t have done anything because it wasn’t my niche. And I wasn’t @stephencurry30 😂 Fast forward to today, I’m literally witnessing myself changing lives and impacting people. OVER A MILLION IN A MONTH! It never feels real. This story still gives me chills…⤵️ In the story of Lazarus, a messenger told Jesus that Lazarus was sick, to which Jesus responded by saying, “Lazarus’ sickness will not end in death…” However, to everyone’s dismay, Lazarus ended up dying. He was dead for 1, 2, 3 days. But on the 4th day, Jesus brought him back to life. Although Lazarus DID die, the ending of the sickness DID NOT end in death — because he was brought back to life. Remember, Jesus said the sickness would not END in death, but He never said death would not OCCUR. Think about that. Now I will be honest, My life is far from where it was 1, 2, 3 years ago and yet, I have never felt more content with life than when I truly put in the effort to make God the center. For the past few years, He’s always been my biggest cheerleader and there when I needed Him, but this year I decided to promote Him to the Head Coach, the GM, the Owner, the Main Executive. I don’t want to make a decision without Him. Through the ups & downs of it all (and trust me — the downs were heavy), I’ve felt relentless peace & tremendous optimism. It’s important to remember that we can only control what we can control. People always hate when I expose another part of the industry, but I just believe it’s fair that you know the truth. It’s obvious that all businesses are created to generate a profit by solving a problem, but what about when businesses are created by top individuals in an industry to amplify a problem for the sake of “solving” it — all while defrauding their customers to generate a hefty profit? Turned 22 today and decided to spend it eating breakfast at Midnight as a perfect ode to Taylor Swift’s song “22”. 21 was a heck of a lesson filled year, but I’m beyond grateful for that entrance into my 20s. Preparation breeds proper expectation and I know God has His hand in all things.
