Meine ~ Rezension ~ zu Wenn Sie Wüsste Autorin: Freida McFadden Verlag: Heyne Verlag, Penguin Random House Meinung: Ich habe von diesem Buch nur gutes gehört und wollte es, nach Veröffentlichung von Band 2, auch endlich lesen. Dieses Buch war der Hit! Die Geschichte war super spannend und war perfekt für ein lesewochenende. Ich habe es verschlungen. Die Charaktere waren super ausgearbeitet und ich war oft mehr als sprachlos über das, was ich da gelesen habe. Ich glaube, ich war selten so wütend und gleichzeitig verwirrt wie in der ersten Hälfte dieses Buches. Die zweite Hälfte? Mit dieser Wendung habe ich definitiv nicht gerechnet, absolut nicht! Und auch dieses Ende habe ich überhaupt nicht kommen sehen. Ich meine, hallo?! Wie bitte?! Was allerdings ein wenig Abzug gebracht hat – ich fand das Ende irgendwie zu flott – alles ging zack, zack – man hätte es noch weiter beleuchten können wie und was Millie mit welchen Absichten jetzt so und so getan hat. The Teacher by Freida McFadden. Fiction This was an easy read, which is the first thing that I want from a book. It was fast moving, which I also like, and there was a nice twist at the end, which is always a winner for me. However, I felt much of the plot in the later half of the book was unrealistic, which grated. The climax of the story was disappointing and the twist at the end didn't actually add up, which was also frustrating. Yellowface war meine Lektüre in der letzten Woche und ich war gebannt und fasziniert von der Vielschichtigkeit des Themas, davon was es mit mir macht und wie die Autorin ihre Story konstruiert hat. Es war durchgängig spannend. Ich war konstant hin und her gerissen zwischen Bewunderung, Mitleid und Aggressionen mit und gegen die Protagonistin June. Die Autorin hat ein wirklich packendes Buch geschrieben, sehr am Puls der Zeit. Wir erhalten Eindrücke vom Verlagswesen, wie viel Power Social Media wirklich hat und wer am Ende die Oberhand gewinnt. Welche Resilienzfaktoren schützen können und wann man droht, sich zu verlieren. Ich fands klasse. I enjoyed the captor/captive storyline that we jump into quite quickly within the book but I would have like to see a bit more character/story background going on. I feel like we got a lot of action about things but not a whole lot of information about those parts (so I basically wanted a longer book 😂). Dean is a great and protective MC but I will say in the spicy scenes that went out the window so ensure you like your world dark. An MMC who can't feel pain made for an intriguing plot point though and the ramifications that had both good and bad and I feel perhaps things got wrapped up a bit too neatly at the end. West Heart Kill by Dann McDorman 😍😐😐😐😐 The synopsis for this book filled me with so much hope and I was truly looking forward to reading it. However within the first handful of pages I had a horrible feeling that it wasn’t going to be for me and unfortunately I was correct. The book is a strange mixture of first, second and third perspective and an even stranger mix of murder mystery story and what felt like a text book on the history of murder mystery writing. The found the constant switch between the two very jarring and made me lose engagement. I wish that the characters had made up for what I felt like I was lacking in plot and atmosphere, but they didn’t do much to please me either. I didn’t feel any connection to any of them and not only did I not particularly care about the victims, but I wasn’t really bothered about who the murderer was either. If you’ve read this far, it’s no secret that this book was just not it for me. I feel like the author had what could have been a cool idea, but tried too hard to make it clever and therefore sucked all of the joy out of reading it. Not every book can be for everyone, but a book can be something to someone and I hope that someone out there has enjoyed reading this.

Elizabeth Winkler - Shakespeare Was a Woman and Other Heresies: How Doubting the Bard Became the Biggest Taboo in Literature (2023) [Non-fiction] ★★★★☆ The suggestion that somebody else might be behind Shakespeare‘s works is considered by Shakespeare scholars as a conspiracy theory, but…why? At the risk of being banished from all Anglophone literary spaces, I must admit that I’ve always felt a little…apathetic towards Shakespeare. I studied him at school of course, and I’ve seen several of his plays, but I’ve never felt compelled to declare him the playwright of all playwrights. In fact, I’ve always felt a little suspicious of the unquestioning hero-worship of Shakespeare that seems to be so prevalent. So this book had me intrigued, and behind the sensational title, it’s actually a terribly interesting read. Winkler delves into the cult of Shakespeare, where it comes from and why people, scholars especially, are so entrenched in it, which was interesting in itself, and sets up the rest of the book well. It also articulated some of my own bewilderment around the British (well, English mostly) obsession with “the Bard.” Winkler summarises some of the more prominent theories around Shakespeare’s identity, the proposed evidence and the gaps and it’s all quite fascinating. She shares her thoughts but isn’t championing any particular theory, it’s more of an exploration of options. Indeed, none of the theories feel watertight - there’s too much missing evidence all-round, but I did finish the book pretty convinced that the guy we think of as Shakespeare is highly unlikely to have written such excellent plays. Frankly, based on the extremely limited available hard evidence about his life, it makes no sense at all. A fascinating, fairly entertaining exploration of some theories around Shakespeare’s identity and why questioning his identity is such a taboo - a strong interest in Shakespeare isn’t even necessary, just some general curiosity. Borrowed from #TaupoLibrary I have to ask: Shakespeare, bee’s knees or…wasp’s elbows? (Alternatively, what would you consider the opposite of bee’s knees?) 🦈
What you are looking for is in the library made me realise how much I love Japanese literature. If you are looking for something similar to “before the coffee gets cold” and the midnight library” then this is your book. Less emotional than the previous two but still with the same pattern (each chapter had a different story based on the character’s visit in the library). It’s a book about books , restart buttons and second chances at life. The only issue for me was that the stories were not emotionally satisfying and strong enough to catch me through few pages. But I can definitely see this book becoming a tv series or a book series with the same pattern. I was waiting either for a climax which never happened or for a fantastic-metaphysical explanation of librarian’s role. That is why I rated it with 3.5 stars out of five. Have you read it? Καλησπέρα. Κάθε κεφάλαιο περιλάμβανε μια διαφορετική ιστορία ανθρώπου που πήγαινε για διαφορετικό λόγο στη βιβλιοθήκη όπου η βιβλιοθηκάριος πρότεινε ένα πολύ στοχευμένο βιβλίο για τη ζωή τους το οποίο άλλαξε κάπως τη ζωή τους. Περίμενα μία κορύφωση στο τέλος, ίσως να μάθουμε περισσότερα για την βιβλιοθηκάριο, ίσως να υπήρχε όντως κάτι μεταφυσικό; Καμία ιστορία δεν απογειώθηκε συναισθηματικά. Θεωρώ ότι αυτό το βιβλίο είχε όλες τις προοπτικές αλλά στην εκτέλεση του δεν κατάφερε να μεταδωσει πολλά συναισθήματα. Recenzja: Pierwszy raz spotykam się z książką, w której po jednej stronie mamy romans współczesny, a z drugiej romans kostiumowy i już samo to zachęciło mnie do przeczytania. Trochę się bałam, że romans kostiumowy może mi się nie spodobać, ale cała fabuła została tak świetnie poprowadzona, że ja nie mogłam się od tego oderwać. Ten klimat, bohaterowie i cała akcja była po prostu genialna! Jeśli chodzi o romans współczesny -uwielbiam go i zdecydowanie Keith skradł moje serce, jest tak świetną postacią, że nie da się go nie lubić. Muszę wspomnieć również o tym, że główna bohaterka tego romansu jest autorką "Mascarade" ale tej wersji kostiumowej, co było mega ciekawe, gdyż mogliśmy zaobserwować, jak tworzy ona fabułę do książki. Uważam, że pomysł na książkę był świetny, a potencjał został w pełni wykorzystany. Ja świetnie się bawiłam podczas czytania i miło spędziłam czas z bohaterami. Jeśli szukacie książki, która dostarczy wam masy wrażeń i wciągnie od pierwszej strony, nie pozwalając się oderwać, ta książka będzie idealna!
✨ 𝐑𝐞𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 ✨ Fighting hard for me ⚛️ Worum geht’s? Sophie steckt mitten in ihrem Physik Studium und wohnt in der chaotischsten WG in ganz Pensacola. Auch in der WG lebt Cole, ihr bester Freund, in welchen sie sich verliebt hat. Nach ihrem eigenen 12 Punkte Plan, welche dafür sorgt, dass sie ihre Gefühle für Cole verlor, soll nun alles wieder so wie früher werde. Cole und Sophie = best Friends Forever. Tja, nur blöd, dass auf einmal Cole ihr gesteht, dass er in sie verliebt ist. 👩🏻🔬 Der letzte Band der Reihe und für mich leider der schwächste. Die WG rund um Cole und Sophie lernten wir schon im zweiten Band kennen und alle zusammen sind einfach super zusammen. Wenn ich die beide in der WG begleiten durfte fühlte es sich richtig cozy und einfach wie zuhause an. Dennoch passiert im Buch nicht wirklich was spannendes. Die Story der beiden plätschert so vor sich hin, was natürlich nicht wirklich schlecht ist, aber in den beiden vorherigen Büchern gab es immer einen Climax, eine Wendung.. irgendwas spannendes eben. Das war hier einfach nicht. 🤷🏻♀️ Das fand ich persönlich ziemlich schade, denn es hätte der Story echt gut getan, da sonst nichts spannendes passiert. Cole und Sophie spiegeln das typische Friends to Lovers Trope wieder, welches ich eigentlich recht gerne mag. Die Backstory von Sophie, welche eigentlich der Grund gegen die Beziehung aufbauen/sein sollte, fand ich echt irgendwie schwach, da es oft erwähnt wurde aber am Ende nicht zu 100% aufgeklärt wurde. 🥲 Schadeeee! Ich habe die Story dennoch gerne gelesen. Die war locker und unterhaltsam. Wenn ich alle Bänder vergleichen müsste, ist der erste Band ganz klar auf dem ersten Platz, danach der zweite Band, da ich die Backstory echt gut fand. Band drei war mit Abstand der schwächste Band.. ☹️ Fighting hard for me bekommt 2,5 / 5 ⭐️

Not only were Lyla and Caleb perfect, but all supporting characters were on point as well 🌸 The banter between them got me giggling on more than one occasion. Sono arrivato a fine lettura sfinito e barcollante, distrutto emotivamente con la consapevolezza di essermi lasciato alle spalle pezzi di me che adesso ho paura di perdere per davvero nella vita vera. Diritti intoccabili, di cui noi occidentali andiamo orgogliosi e di cui non temiamo la benché minima minaccia, in questa storia vengono lentamente oppressi, schiacciati con un dito poi due poi con l’Intera mano ed infine soffocati con i posti di blocco della polizia. Dove ragazzini poco più che adolescenti vengono torturati e poi uccisi come Regeni. Lynch, con questa storia distopica, mostra (con una penna disturbante che mi ha ricordato parecchio Saramago) uno Stato Irlandese lentamente oscurato dalle forze del partito nazionalista che è al potere. Lo fa con uno stile originale ed ipnotico: la disgregazione lenta ma costante della società, la consapevolezza del mutamento, la rassegnazione ad una vita quotidiana che non è più la stessa viene vissuta e spiegata al lettore attraverso la vita e le riflessioni dei protagonisti. Lynch è bravissimo nel raccontare la spirale autoritaria sempre dalla prospettiva soggettiva dei suoi personaggi. Sappiamo cosa sta succedendo dalle loro conversazioni, da ciò che leggono e ascoltano su giornali e telegiornali e, soprattutto, da ciò che sperimentano sulla propria pelle. Questo libro mi ha fatto capire quanto sia stato purtroppo troppo “facile” ribaltare un sistema e quanto sia stato ancora più facile avanzare con la dittatura. E quanto sia impossibile poi stravolgere i piani e riconquistare la libertà. Tutto inizia quando Larry Stack, un insegnante e leader del sindacato dei docenti, viene arrestato e detenuto senza spiegazioni dopo aver preso parte a una protesta. Sarà la moglie, Eilish, a raccontare il dramma di crescere 4 figli da sola contro un sistema che non vuole dare risposte ma solo far tacere. È crudo, impegnativo, disturbante e mi ha destabilizzato parecchio ma nonostante tutto questo libro deve vincere ogni premio esistente, indimenticabile. Alla prossima!📚

💜 L O V E R E D E S I G N E D 💜 Such an odd reading experience for me with this one, I couldn’t get into it at all, tried a few times but always got distracted, eventually forced myself to get through it and started to enjoy maybe half way through but even then it fell short for me. The way they went from constantly bickering to an exclusive couple was so confusing I feel like I missed a few chapters. I’m also finding that I like enemies to lovers less and less, I just find it so cringe and desperate, like grown adults bickering like children doesn’t do it for me. In hindsight I remember thinking the same about Sloane and Lucian in the first 2 Knockemout books, but they brought it back round in book 3! Gyere Vendel, nézzük milyen vicces dolgok történtek a többiekkel 🙈 Ez a kis könyv abszolút gyerekeknek szól, őket szólítja meg egy-egy oldalban elmesélve szituációkat, állattartási tanácsokat, tudnivalókat vicces, szerethető formában. A szülők is élveznék szerintem amúgy, mert tényleg nagyon jópofa módon, cuki illusztrációkkal ragadja meg a kisállattartás témáját. Egy szuper közös program lehet ezt olvasgatni, nézegetni. Szó esik benne arról, hogy milyen felelősséggel jár az állattartás, hogy hogyan történik egy névválasztás, vagy az, hogy miért is jó mentett kutyát örökbefogadni (ez a kis fekete Maci kutya története például) 🥰 Van benne kakaiazonosító táblázat is (🤔), vagy a teendő, amikor az állatod az ágy végében áll és bámul, vagy épp bekattan. In dem zweiten Teil geht es um die junge Lehramtsstudentin Zelal. Man kennt sie bereits aus dem Vorgänger und ich war schon sehr gespannt auf ihre Geschichte. Zelal bekommt von ihren Eltern keinerlei Unterstützung und kämpft sich mit Aushilfsjobs und als studentische Hilfskraft durch bis sie eines Tages ihren sehr charmanten und attraktiven Postdoc Levi Jakab kennenlernt und es zwischen ihnen gewaltig knistert. Nun ist ein Verhältnis zwischen Studenten und Dozenten nicht ausdrücklich verboten wird aber natürlich nicht gerne gesehen und hat immer so einen bitteren Beigeschmack. Doch wie lange können sie sich gegen ihre Gefühle wehren… Mir hat auch der zweite Teil der Reihe sehr sehr gut gefallen. Wir haben hier eine wunderschöne Slow Burn Romance um eine “verbotene“ Liebe, die mich mit der kompletten Wucht der Emotionen getroffen hat. Dabei ist die Geschichte eigentlich so simpel aufgebaut und von der Grundidee eigentlich nichts Außergewöhnliches, aber wie es Rabia Doğan schafft das Ganze so ehrlich und authentisch rüberzubringen ist sehr bemerkenswert. Sie verknüpft sehr ernste Themen mit der Lovestory und besonders gut gefällt mir, dass sie ihrer Protagonistin…⬇️

Ha sido un verdadero placer colaborar con vosotros.❤️ Los Andes. 1972. Accidente aéreo. 45 pasajeros. Lucha. Supervivencia. Nieve. Amistad.16 supervivientes. Esta historia ha sido una de las más impactantes y duras que he leído en mi vida. Seguramente, todos conozcáis la historia, pero la verdad, es que después de leer este libro, puedes conocer más en profundidad lo que realmente llegaron a pasar durante aquellos 72 días, incluso, puedes transportarte a la frialdad de los Andes leyendo sus páginas. Sacaron una fuerza sobrehumana para sobrevivir en esas condiciones, y a pesar de que muchas veces perdieron la esperanza, continuaron con tesón y optimismo hacia adelante. Esperaron ser rescatados, y aunque en algún momento pensaron en que jamás los encontrarían, en vez de hundirse y dejarse morir, formaron la llamada sociedad de la nieve. Se ayudaban y animaban entre ellos, se cuidaban y juntos, seguían hacia adelante en la peor situación que un ser humano puede llegar a vivir. Eso les unió de la forma más bonita que se pueda hacer en esa situación, y demostraron que la unión fue la única manera de sobrevivir. A pesar de las dificultades, y con la ayuda de todos, consiguieron sobrevivir 16 de los 45, aunque seguramente una parte de ellos murió allí, pues jamás volverán a ser los mismos.
