A collection of autumn scenery captured this weekend in regional NSW. I’ve been experimenting with vintage lenses lately. These were taken on a Helios 44M 58/2. Despite being older than I am, the lens functions immaculately (a testament to the build quality of its period). The lens is heavy in hand due to its all metal and glass construction, and features full manual controls. The process of composing a scene, dialling in the desired settings and taking a photograph is decidedly therapeutic. I’ve been cooped up at home more than usual due to some work-related commitments, so the missus drove us down to the countryside for a change of scenery. I took these pictures on a whim at random points of on this trip. Although my weekend was spent predominantly working, the process of capturing these beautiful scenes using this charming old lens was a lovely way to decompress. I have recently Pentax Super Takumar 28/3.5 and a Takumar 200/3.5 that I am looking forward to using on subsequent trips. If any of you are experienced with vintage glass, I would love to hear your experiences and any recommendations you may have (currently looking to add a Zeiss Flektogon 20/2.8 to the collection for some astro work). Peony Blooms Mom, your peonies are blooming. Yesterday I sat in my garden and took a few images of your 50+ year old peonies. I had tears in my eyes as I thought about how much you loved these flowers; and hopefully you are pleased that I've managed to keep these hardy flowers alive. Thankfully I had enough sense to have these peony plants moved before I sold your house; and I pray that someone will take care of these peonies when I leave this earth.
