Blank House, Point Reyes CA. Rode out Northbound along Highway 1 again today. Had it in mind to try make a solid fist of shooting the ride, but I only managed a handful of shots. This boarded up farmhouse was one of the few subjects I stopped for…so compelling was the road. Anyway, what can I say…I’m a sucker for dereliction, and this place had something of the southern gothic about it. Auf dem PCH oder auch Highway 1 genannt, geht es von Dana Point nach San Francisco. Wir legen unterwegs einige Stopps und zwei Übernachtungen ein. Die Straße verläuft die meiste Zeit über direkt an der Küste entlang. Oftmals ist es sehr abenteuerlich, den es geht hoch und runter und von einer in die nächste Kurve. On Sunday, April 28, the morning convoy at Rocky Creek will move from 7 a.m. to 4 a.m due to the Big Sur Marathon. This early morning convoy will allow vehicles to pass through from: 4 a.m. to 4:45 a.m. The evening convoy will still be at 5:00 p.m. as usual. Regular convoy times will be reinstated thereafter. All vehicles must travel north of Rio Road or South of Rocky Creek by 5 a.m. when the race closure goes into effect. Auf dem Hwy 1 Richtung Norden ... ... sollte man definitiv einmal am Hearst Castle stoppen. Besichtigungen werden im Rahmen verschiedener Führungen den ganzen Zag über angeboten. Man kann mehrere Führungen an einem Tag machen, was ich jedoch nicht empfehlen würde. Wir waren platt und übersättigt mit Eindrücken von unserer Tour. Jedoch absolut sehenswert. Kurzer geschichtlicher Abriss: Privatmann möchte sein eigenes Haus, Aussehen erstmal egal Hauptsache Aussicht. Günstiges Land gekauft, eine der ersten weiblichen Architekten im Land angestellt und los gings. Heraus kam dieses "kleine bescheidene Häuschen". Besuch empfing man nach Einladung. Persönlichkeiten aus Film, Politik, Presse und manchmal auch dem einfachen Leben haben sich hier getroffen. U.a.
