HEARTBREAKING POST 😭🥲 SIMBA SURGERY STOPPED I am chocking with tears as I write Simba’s very sad outcome of surgery. At 4.00pm today surgery commenced to remove the mass from Simba’s brain. Three hours in Dr Lui stopped surgery as the mass was too deep to remove and bleeding. I had to make the kindness call to put Simba to sleep whilst under anaesthesia. I had all hopes tomorrow he would be attempting to walk again and we prepared a kennel room for his discharge in coming days.. Dr Lui said Simba would have had the mass approximately 5 months. The discomfort would have been nausea, dizziness, unsteadiness and headaches. Simba had the best medical care firstly from Dr Elaine Concordia Happy Valley and neurosurgeon Dr Lui City U. Best of the best .. I thank them both for all they did to try to Save Simba. Sorry but I feel so emotional finding it hard to compose the words… Simba and his Mum Nola were family bonded and always together. Simba would be Mum’s protector and give warnings when pigs would approach on the slopes of the campus. I have video footage taken when we spent many days and nights trying to capture them. Simba and his beautiful Mum can now reunite in heavenly peace. They were both loved by some very caring HKUST residents, myself and rescue colleagues. HAPPY MONDAY POST “EARLY MOTHERS DAY” Two of our beautiful Mothers yesterday at our Adoption Day at The Hive had the gift of a home! We are all so exuberant for our darlings Sui Bo & Tina young Mummy of the 15 babies. It is usually hard to home dog Mummies and even more so, soon after giving birth. The icing on the cake was two of Tina’s babies also were adopted👏🏻👏🏻 We started the day feeling abit down, negative with the heavy rain but it turned into an awesome day. 😁🛞 Many people came to the event and some from even far away areas of Tai Po, Kowloon and Lamma Island. Our event was held inside The Hive Cafe with lounge comfort, coffee and delicious pineapple puffs!! Big Thankyou to Manager Salve & @thehivehongkong for such great hospitality. Our Adoption events cant happen without our fantastic volunteer support, lifting dogs in and out of cars, drivers, equipment setup and dog handlers and their effort coming out in the pouring rain is such dedication. BORDER WEEKLY VISIT It was wet 😖 The fishfarm dogs all were all very happy to receive warm cooked chicken and rice meal.. Dogs not on annual Proheart were were given monthy Triheart tabets for heartworm prevention. A local man had four new pups he was given from Yuen Long. He said he took them to save them from being killed. He kept one and we had 3 moved to a nearby fishfarm site under our care. Our volunteer will bring them to Village Vets Sai Kung for medical check and vaccinations this coming Saturday. Another fishfarm site had two new puppies. Same story they were given the pups by a friend. The site will now have 7 dogs!! The poor little pups have severe mange and we gave them Bravecto. We expect to see improvement by next weeks visit. They will be diaried to be taken for vaccinations. We were rejected taking a very sweet Sharpie boy called QQ to vet who had a swollen side of his mouth. We received followup pictures yesterday and the swelling had reduced. Must have been an insect bite reaction. Every week we encounter something 😉but for sure the best part of our visits is the happy welcome and love we receive from these beautiful loyal dogs. Support our Border mission by becoming a monthly donor. We provide to 9 sites, dry food, weekly cooked chicken meal, medical, bedding and dog houses. Our voluntary work is meaningful and helps the dogs to have a better life. UPDATE .. PAK POR (Female) Post 25/03/2024 URGENT.. URGENT.. URGENT "I have just received a frantic call to help this poor dog on the HK China Border." Pak Por has been hospitialised in Concordia Clinic Happy Valley since her rescue 25th March, 2024. Yesterday 15th April Dr Jane from Paws in Motion consulted Pak Por at Concordia Clinic. Dr. Jane demonstrated the rehabilitative procedures, how to use the yoga ball ( peanut shape ) & Assiss loop ( electromagnetic Pulse ) to our carer. Pak Por was not aggressive while examining and laser wave but little nervous. Dr Jane is not sure yet if Pak Por will manage to walk again after regaining some muscle strengthening for various reasons:- - Not sure if she can regain her muscle - diminishing of her muscle could be long before she’s being rescued - Pak Por has left knee joint arthritis - spot various spinal cord bridging which definitely causes pain The rehab equipment was purchased many thanks to the kind donors. Further rehab sessions by Dr Jane will be arranged. Pak Por’s wounds are healing well. The purchase of support equipment is necessary for her rehab and we post the Paws in Motion invoice $7,320 and appeal for donations🙏🏼 Furthermore a carer, someone very very dedicated is needed to foster Pak Por and to be shown things that can be done at home to take care of her upon discharge. She is more confident on her morning walks in the area. Lunch time she goes to the dog park to play. She is very cheerful with the other dogs. During the afternoon she sleeps or plays with her toys and she goes out again at 4.30 for long walk, after she has her dinner and then go to last walk at 9 pm. She loves the night walk.
