And a final congratulations to our Under 18s Emerging Artist winner for Seeing the Soul 2024, with her incredible work entitled Kindred Spirits - Ellenie Faith Kirkman! So much talent in such a young person, just wait until you hear what Ellenie has to say: "This oil painting tries to capture the feeling of close connection between human and horse. I love the term ‘kindred spirits’ and I love meeting fellow kindred spirits whether they are humans or horses." Ellenie Faith is a seventeen year old artist creating on Kabi Kabi country. She has been creating all her life, but started committing to art two years ago. She studies oil painting, graphite and charcoal. Horses have always been a main focus in her art. Her two rescue mares are huge inspirations for her artwork. This year she had her first ever art exhibition and aims to become a full time artist in the future. Ellenie Faith contributed the oil painting Kindred Spirits as well as the charcoal drawing Greeting towards the prize exhibition. You can find Ellenie on Instagram @elleniefaith_art - so impressed by her talent! As always, you can still find all the art for this year's exhibition available for viewing and purchase at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre, open daily until 12th May. A massive congratulations to our Highly Commended Winner for Seeing the Soul 2024 - Jasmine Veronique for her work Innocent Harmony. We absolutely love sharing the meaning behind the work so we thought we'd take this opportunity to share with you all: "In my painting I wanted to capture a moment of pure innocence and unspoken understanding between a young girl and her white foal. This oil painting weaves a visual narrative of peace, safety, and the beauty that can exist between humans and animals. The subjects are nestled in an idyllic setting, where the gentle interplay of warm greens, pinks, and browns creates a backdrop that feels both comforting and ethereal. . . (continued online)" Jasmine Veronique is an emerging fine artist based in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. She draws inspiration from the raw, imperfect beauty and meaning of nature, a fascination that is deeply mirrored in her artwork. Jasmine has garnered notable recognition as a finalist in the Caloundra Regional Gallery Local Contemporary Art Prize 2024, both a finalist and the People’s Choice Award Winner in the 40 Under 40 Exhibition and Art Prize 2024, and a two-time finalist in the Lethbridge Gallery 20000 Small Scale Art Awards. Her work has been featured in Art Edit Magazine’s Summer Edition 2023 and a two-page feature in the Autumn Edition 2024. Marking a significant milestone in her career, this year Jasmine is participating for the first time in the Affordable Art Fair in Brisbane, represented by Stevens Street Gallery. She has also actively participated in various group exhibitions throughout the years. Additionally, Jasmine holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Animation from the Queensland College of Art, graduating in 2007. You can find Jasmine on Instagram @jasmineveroniqueartist - in love! A special congratulations to our Runner-Up prize winner for Seeing the Soul 2024, Ellie Sutton and her gorgeous work entitled Little Bird. One of the best things about art is hearing the backstory and inspiration behind the work. We wanted to share Ellie's so you can fall in love with her work just like we have: "Little Bird aims to capture the profound and heartwarming bond between a young girl and a tiny bird, transcending the barriers of species to showcase the beauty of an unspoken connection. This art piece delves into the magical realm where innocence and nature converge, presenting a tale of friendship that is both tender and profound. At the heart of the artwork is the little bird, a symbol of untamed freedom and delicate vulnerability. The feathered creature’s plumage rendered with a softness that echoes the tenderness of the girl's touch. The bird's eyes reflect trust and serenity, illustrating the implicit understanding between the two beings." Ellie Sutton is an emerging Australian artist raised in the picturesque southern highlands and now residing in the Blue Mountains, NSW. Even as a newcomer to the art world, she is already making her mark, having been selected as overall winner and abstract category winner in the 2023 Bluethumb art prize. She has also been selected finalist in multiple prestigious art prizes and hung in exhibitions Australia wide. Central to Ellie’s artistic vision is a deep reverence for the spiritual realm. Through her art, she seeks to transcend the limitations of the material world, inviting viewers to delve into the ethereal and connect with something greater than themselves. You can find Ellie on Instagram @ellie_sutton_artist - worth a follow! As always, you can still find all the art for this year's exhibition available for viewing and purchase at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre, open daily until 12th May. Don't forget to enter the raffle to win some incredible prizes too!

Congratulations to our Major Prize Winner for Seeing the Soul 2024 - Jo Hawkins! With her incredible work entitled Unconditional. We want to take a moment to spotlight our winners and their stunning works, so we thought we would share a little bit more info about Jo's work: "What love is more unconditional than a person and their dog? I wanted to convey that sense of love between human and animal with this painting. Most of my art is commissioned animal and people portraits from photos using acrylic paint and sometimes watercolour, pencils or digital art. An interesting subject always helps make the process easier. I use Photoshop and Procreate to enhance the photo when required and paint from this as reference. I find that no matter who or what I am painting, I am inspired by each subject’s unique beauty. Being self taught, every day is a new adventure for developing my skills and style." Jo Hawkins only recently began her artistic adventure after a full time career as a graphic designer. Self taught apart from the occasional art class or workshop, she sees inspiration in the beauty of animal and humans and sometimes in nature, which she likes to bring to life using predominantly acrylic paint. Jo’s work is mainly commissioned pieces which have gone to private collections in Australia, the USA and the Middle East. She has only just began putting work into public galleries. Jo has been featured in “I Am” Magazine, participated with 2 sketchbooks in “The Sketchbook Project” which is part of the the Brooklyn, New York, Library of Art. Her sketchbooks are in the lending library and digital library. She has also participated in group collections/exhibitions in the local Sunshine Coast area. You can find Jo on Instagram @catajojo - so impressed by her talent! As always, you can still find all the art for this year's exhibition available for viewing and purchase at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre, open daily until 12th May. Don't forget to enter the raffle to win some incredible prizes too!

My interest is painting people, and this subject especially, as it included a horse, and I love horses. The lines and subtle minimalist colour choice portrayed in this scene, make for a pleasing quiet piece, which would look good in any space." Gorgeous. Artist profile JULIA WHEELER has entered an acrylic piece on canvas entitled Unspoken Connection. She says "Seeing the soul - that deep, all-encompassing feeling of mutual unspoken connection between kindred spirits. No purer emotion to heal the heart and soul. This painting is, to me, how that love feels - skin on fur, eyes closed, inhaling the safety and comfort of a pure soul. The green of the background signifies the nurturing and regrowth of nature, the renewal of energies and the healing of emotions. The blue of her jacket signifies inner peace, serenity and spiritual development. White - the beautiful horse - the purity of an animal’s soul. This is why the work at Hoofbeats is so very important - healing connections are forged and lives are enriched with love and hope." Beautiful. so am part of the @seeing.the.soul exhibition again this year, in the Cooroy Butter Factory. It is to support and raise funds and awareness for the Hoofbeats Sanctuary is a mental health charity on the Sunshine Coast. Equine therapy programs are a key part of their work. The theme was human-animal connection. I have donated this artwork, so 100% of the sale goes to the sanctuary, it is available to purchase right now on their web site. Its called Waterboy-In memory of Sunny. He was a painting I did awhile back and this sketch is based on it. This grand old horse was a light in his owners life, one that can never be extinguished. If you are local to the Sunny Coast the exhibition is from 13th April to 13 May. The fantastic event was a major fundraising initiative to support and promote the Sanctuary’s work by celebrating and showcasing equine art. The inaugural event was held at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre on the 31 March with over 200 people in attendance. Thank you to the photographer Cooper Brady and graphic designer Heidi Jenkins from The Creative Frog for taking some amazing photos of the night. #mentalhealth #seeingthesoul #hoofbeatssanctuary #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthsupport

Horses for courses ~ since the opening of @hoofbeats.sanctuary @seeing.the.soul exhibition at @butterfactoryartscentre I’m witnessing horses in everything and really loving my horse shaped lenses… I will share a few more of the amazing artist entries over subsequent posts. Better still head to Cooroy to enjoy the exhibition which closes at the end of this month. You can also support the @hoofbeats.sanctuary charity which focusses on mental health for women and children with complex trauma through equine programs by heading to the online silent auction to bid via @seeing.the.soul bio link. For now, this is what lit up in the mountain on my morning walk. Can you see the horse shape emerging from the weeds and brown leaves surrounded by greenery? I think there might even be a bottlebrush unicorn 🦄 horn #equinetherapy #hoofbeatssanctuary #seeingthesoul

Happy Wednesday 🌅 I’m so excited to be a part of this beautiful Exhibition. This Exhibition is a must for all you equine lovers💞 🐎& lovers of all things Art 🌸 Seeing the Soul: Hoofbeats Sanctuary Art Prize and Exhibition is a major fundraising initiative to support and promote the Sanctuary’s work by celebrating and showcasing equine art. In 2023, the inaugural event will be held at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre from 31 March to 30 April 2023. With 42 local and interstate artists submitting 75 incredible artworks this will be an absolutely amazing exhibition! We have been overwhelmed at the generosity of our artists. Hoofbeats Sanctuary is a trauma-healing centre that brings people, animals and nature together to improve the emotional well-being of some of the most vulnerable members of our community – women and children living with mental health challenges resulting from complex trauma. I have donated my work “The Paddock with the Apple Tree” and all proceeds of the purchase of my pieces will go to Hoofbeats Sanctuary ❤️ So if you are on the Sunshine Coast & love love love horses.. The Cooroy Butter Factory Art Centre is the place to be 🐎🌸🙌 So looking forward to opening night ..Friday 31st March🌅 #hoofbeatssanctuary #seeingthesoul #cooroybutterfactoryartscentre #recycledart #equine #mentalhealthawareness #horse #horselovers #freeyoursoul #bekind
