Casa Matilda and its sister Casa Maria sit on a lush plot of land in the exclusive Punta Pájaros neighborhood 30 minutes from Puerto Escondido. Maria and Matilda emerge on the edge of the Pacific Ocean of Oaxaca, stranded between sand and vegetation. They are located 30 minutes from Puerto Escondido and a few steps from the beach. The spaces in the houses are undefined throughout the day. Through the movement of the sliding wooden walls, the control of the confined space is almost entirely in the hands of the guests. Comment below! 👇 If you’ve read enough Dwell stories, you probably know that architects tend to obsess over daylight. “One of our most important things is to try to always have as much natural light as we can inside the house,” says Max Noguera of @max_a_arquitectos. So, when faced with siting a lakeside project with its back to the sun, Noguera had to think outside the box… or rather, think on top of it. Atop this 1,820-square-foot house, the architects installed a jewel-like skylight. Instead of placing the apex in the center of the square plan, Noguera skewed it to the northeast, where the sun would be most readily captured. “With that little move, we were able to bring natural light not just to the second-floor loft, but to the whole house,” says Noguera. For homeowners Daniela and Francisco and their three kids, this one-of-a-kind skylight offers plenty of charm at night, too. “In the night, it’s amazing—we can see the stars,” says Francisco. Adds Daniela: “We tuck them in and stay up looking at the moon. Wettbewerbsbeitrag Visitor Center - Unterirdisches Besucher*innenzentrum Oberes Belvedere, Wien In Zusammenarbeit mit hochform Architekten @hochform.architekten Grieger Harzer Dvorak Landschaftsarchitekten @griegerharzerdvorak Bollinger+Grohmann @bollingergrohmann Transsolar Energietechnik @transsolar_klimaengineering Dank der Ausnutzung des vorhandenen räumlichen Potenzials sowie der Sinnhaftigkeit der Zugänge wird der Kopfbau des Kavalierstrakts als Eingangspavillon geplant. Der Eingangsraum mit der vollen Raumhöhe erzeugt, trotz der beengten Verhältnisse des Bestands eine Großzügigkeit. Über die symmetrische Treppenanlage gelangen Besuchende ins Visitor Center wie auch ins angrenzende Café. Aufgrund der notwendigen Raumhöhen, ist es möglich zweigeschossige Bürobereiche zu integrieren. Dadurch können zusätzlich kurze und effiziente Abläufe gewährleistet werden. Die Wand des bestehenden Depots wird freigelegt, diese sowie die Manipulation werden hinter einer raumtrennenden Glaswand inszeniert und vergrößern den Bereich Information/Ticket und Sicherheitsschleuse nicht nur visuell, sondern geben Besuchenden auch einen Einblick in die Arbeit an und mit Kunstobjekten. Die Belichtung und Beleuchtung werden über drei unterschiedliche Lichtquellen gewährleistet. Zwei großzügig dimensionierte Lichthöfe versorgen die Bereiche Information/Ticket, MA*innen, Manipulation und Shop. Dabei sind diese skulptural geformt und verspiegelt und leiten so selbst an bewölkten Tagen viel Tageslicht, sowie Himmelsreflektionen bis tief ins Gebäude. Wettbewerbsbeitrag Visitor Center - Unterirdisches Besucher*innenzentrum Oberes Belvedere, Wien In Zusammenarbeit mit hochform Architekten @hochform.architekten Grieger Harzer Dvorak Landschaftsarchitekten @griegerharzerdvorak Bollinger+Grohmann @bollingergrohmann Transsolar Energietechnik @transsolar_klimaengineering Dank der Ausnutzung des vorhandenen räumlichen Potenzials sowie der Sinnhaftigkeit der Zugänge wird der Kopfbau des Kavalierstrakts als Eingangspavillon geplant. Der Eingangsraum mit der vollen Raumhöhe erzeugt, trotz der beengten Verhältnisse des Bestands eine Großzügigkeit. Über die symmetrische Treppenanlage gelangen Besuchende ins Visitor Center wie auch ins angrenzende Café. Aufgrund der notwendigen Raumhöhen, ist es möglich zweigeschossige Bürobereiche zu integrieren. Dadurch können zusätzlich kurze und effiziente Abläufe gewährleistet werden. Die Wand des bestehenden Depots wird freigelegt, diese sowie die Manipulation werden hinter einer raumtrennenden Glaswand inszeniert und vergrößern den Bereich Information/Ticket und Sicherheitsschleuse nicht nur visuell, sondern geben Besuchenden auch einen Einblick in die Arbeit an und mit Kunstobjekten. Die Belichtung und Beleuchtung werden über drei unterschiedliche Lichtquellen gewährleistet. Zwei großzügig dimensionierte Lichthöfe versorgen die Bereiche Information/Ticket, MA*innen, Manipulation und Shop. Dabei sind diese skulptural geformt und verspiegelt und leiten so selbst an bewölkten Tagen viel Tageslicht, sowie Himmelsreflektionen bis tief ins Gebäude. The overall concept is to utilize the images of planned cities, industrial complexes, and industrial cities from the perspective of Changwon city, and to unfold the space in an intuitive form using geometric patterns based on orthogonal grids. Furthermore, the planning and design of a mixed cultural facility were carried out on the SITE designated for the master plan. To enhance accessibility from the downtown area, a skywalk was drawn into the building, pulling fragmented MASSes together to plan for interconnecting each program.
